Amazing food, large portions, great prices and excellent friendly service. This meatball sandwich was huge. And the macaroni dishes are to die for.

Takeout from the Broken Gavel did not disappoint! We got the 'Castros Choice' pulled pork sandwich and two orders of Mac n' Cheese, and they were all phenomenal. Food was hot, ready on time, and staff were super nice.

Their food is great, you just can't decide to eat there or order out spur of the moment. My family moved away from the area, so we're not local anymore, but we were visiting and wanted to order. The website said that they are dine in by reservation only, and take out. So, I tried calling to ask what the wait time was like. The guy said they only take takeout orders at specific times, and wouldn't be taking the next one for almost two hours. I said that makes it complicated to order, and he said that they're not a takeout restaurant. I felt that was pretty rude. Especially since the website specifically says that they do take out, and makes it sound like an alternative option, since dine in is reservation only.

The food was delicious, affordable, and the portions very generous. The Broken Gavel has a cozy and comfortable vibe, but you must make a reservation in advance to get a table and it's a popular place so call in advance. Looking forward to our next visit!

I will give the rating of 2 as the food was excellent once again, however, we had reservations for 6:30 with friends on a Saturday night. They were certainly not swamped with customers. We felt rushed from the time we got there at 6:25 and at 8:05pm the waitress told us we had to leave as they needed the table. Our food did come out until 20-25 minute after we ordered but we had already been there a half hour or so before we ordered. What if we had ordered appetizers and then also decided that we wanted coffee or dessert after dinner? We would have had to eat dessert in the parking lot. Definitely not enough time to order apps, entrées, dessert and coffee. We all looked at each other in awe as there was plenty of room at the bar for people to wait and some side tables empty to the right as you walked in the front door. The table behind us was also leaving at the same time and there was nobody at the front door to come in. I did not get to finish my last glass of wine either. Very disappointed as we were not told there was a time limit. It was a waste of an hours drive there to be kicked out of our table without finishing our drinks or conversation with friends. It is unlikely that our friends will make reservations again at this restaurant. Very disappointed when some restaurants are hurting for patrons to keep their doors open.

I have visited this very popular place a few times. I recommend getting reservations as it is generally quite busy. The food is sort of an upscale pub style with something for everyone, and some great unique takes on dishes. I haven't had a bad meal here and highly recommend it.

Food is amazing and staff are friendly and professional. I always get the small Caesar salad and the Cheesiest Mac and Cheese every time I go and I highly recommend it. I also had their dessert special of the Chocolate Truffle cake and it was really good!

My 12 year old daughter and I were so looking forward to our night out. I knew I was taking a chance without a reservation but did not know what time we would arrive. The waiter offered us a spot at the bar which we gladly took but he not so politely advised they were a ‘reservation only’ establishment. There were 4 empty tables at the time which remained empty during the hour we were there as well as 3 other tables that cleared during that time. We also heard him refuse another table dessert because they had been late for their reservation, even though at that point the restaurant was less then half full.

Ate there a week ago…beautiful patio which is simple but feels homely. The food was so fresh and the servings are huge. The staff is very friendly.

Great service. Menu is delightful with lots of options to choose from. The mile high burgers are unique in name and flavor!

First time at this pub. We didn't realize we needed a reservation but they accommodated us as they had an extra table So for the future make a reservation before arriving. The server was very nice and gave us a small table and took our drink order quickly. The menu was very good and the prices were fair. We placed our order and the food was on the Table within 15mins which was very impressive. I have to say I was very surprised by the size of the meals. Both were a good size and both were very well cooked and a pleasures to eat. I barely finished the Thurman burger meal and the misses couldn't finish the penne it was huge and she loved it. She took the leftover home for lunch the next day. We decided to have another round of beers and the server brought them quickly. We didn't have to wait for the bill to long and we paid and said our goodbyes. Overall we were very pleased with the service and the food. We will be coming back again... But this time we will make sure to make reservations.. 👍

You get exactly one and a half hours to eat your dinner before the waitress comes to get your tab paid. I had a very chewy beaf sandwich with a Caesar salad with a hint of Parmesan. Don’t waste your money.

Everything we ordered was amazing. I’m not a Mac and cheese kinda guy but I ordered the lobster and crab Mac and cheese and it was to die for. Large portions. We had a lot of left overs.

We just love this place. The food is so good must try the maritime Mac and cheese. Melts in your mouth and the right amount of lobster and crab… to die for. The service is on point as well! Job well Done.
