Brunnen
is
same
as
fountain
in
English.
Fasnacht
is
a
fried
doughnut
of
German
origin
and
served
during
days
of
CARNIVAL
which
is
on
Shrove
Tuesday,
the
day
before
Lent
begins.
In
Mainz
you
can
find
a
unique
and
large
fountain
depicting
the
festive
characters
of
Carnival.
This
is
nice
to
see!
In
addition,
I
visited
the
small
Mainzer
Fastnacht
museum
dedicated
to
the
history.
While
interesting,
I
would
not
go
out
of
my
way
to
visit.
It
took
a
little
time
to
locate
and
is
not
too
far
from
the
fountain.
The
Tourist
Service
Center
shows
it
on
their
map.
Cost
is
minimal
and
you
can
see
everything
in
about
10
minutes.
The
"fools"
hats
and
large
paper
mache
heads
are
part
of
the
tradition.
A
floor
map
shows
the
parade
route
which
is
approximately
7
km
in
length.
Glad
I
learned
more
about
the
history
...
my
rating
reflects
the
fact
that
it
is
not
a
major
attraction.
