Did the 2 mile REI River Trail. The trail is great. You can find it on All Trails to follow the trail loops. Lucky for us it had not rained in a while so the trails were dry and well marked. But I can see how they would be muddy and covered with rains and if the river would flow over. So keep that in mind. There is a lot of parking, bathrooms, play area for kids and ample picnic areas. There were a few fire pit areas that would be nice to use. Stopped to enjoy each overlook we came to. Those were a nice touch. Planning on returning in the season to do the longer 5 mile trail (4.9 miles). I recommend you check this out. We went on a Sunday around 11am and there weren’t many people there so it was really relaxing and nice. Our only sad part was all of the trash. The river overflows and deposits all of the trash (mostly plastic) all over the landscape. It was so sad and makes me want to being a trash bag with us the next time to pick up what we can reach.

On the south end of the park, where the archery range is, there is a path in the tree line for the frisbee golf course.Out of curiosity I took this path over a hill and stumbled on a section of the park that I thought was just a frisbee golf course but found another if not more scenic area of the park.

Trails are very well kept and the look out areas are beautiful. A mix of dirt, gravel, and paved paths though out, and along the river there are TONS of beautiful wild flowers! A beautiful walk in the spring.

This is a nice park for families to enjoy. The playground is designed for older children 5 and up. There are several picnic spots with tables available. The trails were not paved where we started and not accessible for people in wheelchairs. This park is pretty big, so there could be other parts that are paved. There are fire pits available to use as well. The path to the bridge consists of mulch and is pretty easy-except for the steep hill at the start of the trail. Springtime is great for seeing all of the wildflowers!

Hike to the swinging bridge! Loved the hills and hiking right next to the water, and they cleared an area (of invasive honeysuckle) so you can actually see and get near the river. The whole park is Dog friendly. The swinging bridge is a good destination for a reasonable walk, but you can continue for a longer walk. There is camping here! The river is beautiful, but then I like being around water! Walking sticks are nice if you have them, and I was the only one wearing ice cleats, but they sure were handy for going up and down the few hills with snow and ice on the ground. Or you could walk the other way for less of an incline. It's well worth a 20-30 minute drive if you want to hike here for a change.

Beautifully kept. Amazing archery range with 3d course in the woods and target bags. There is a nice pond to fish near the range. Only negative thing to say is that they put disc golf course right next to archery. Both archers and disc golfers feel it's not a she combination

Very nice park for metro area. The disc golf course is it good beginner course. The park also offers archery range, a playground for the kids, hiking and biking trails , and catch and release fishing ponds. All in all not a bad place to spend the day with the family

This park is built along the west bank of Scioto River, with access to the river, woods and prairie. I especially like the suspense bridge that connects the north part of the park to the south, the watch tower where you can see Columbus downtown, and several overlook decks. The park is bordered by a highway and some major roads so could be a little noisy, but overall, a great place for you and your pets 🐶 to enjoy the outdoors.

Great place to walk in the woods and get the feeling of being in the woods in the middle of no where, and still be able to get home in 15 minutes. The park is also huge so even when the parking lots are packed you won’t have people on top of you.

I really enjoyed it here. Great park with a good amount of trails. Mostly shaded, but some sunny patches too. Also some open green spaces to play frisbee or soccer. Dog friendly and my Labrador mix had a good time sniffing around on his walk here.

2 days ago I pulled into this park because I had hit a pot hole and got a flat tire. It was just me and my 7 yr old daughter in the rain. The dark haired female park ranger working Saturday around 12:30 stopped and offered to try and help us in any way she could. I told her I had it under control but she stopped back 2 more times to make sure we got back on the road. Thank you so much!

LOVE this park! It’s my go to. The trails are great and it has nice open fields, a playground, and a fire pit for get togethers. It has so much more, something for everyone!

Had a great time walking around this park. lots of parking, clean and clear trails, fields to play sports in, long walks available. We walked about 5 mi round trip and there was plenty more walking that we didn't get to. lots of river views and places to get close to the water. dog friendly! bathrooms on site. Both paved and unpaved trails (only unpaved trough the woods). The unpaved trails were mostly smooth and flat with few roots growing in them so it was an easy walk. Off the trails we walked through the woods a bit and found a few child sized forts I the woods! BE CAREFUL if it has just rained as the mud gets extremely slippery by the riverbanks, I fell in 😂

We did the REI trail portion of the park. It's a couple roads before the main entrance of the park. Gravel road that goes back to the parking lot, which is also all gravel. No restroom at this location. Very neat trail that goes along the river. Trail is well marked. Lots of lush foliage and some flowers. There were quite a few birds, such as herons and ducks, and we even saw a snake.

Several paths around the park. Beautiful river and super playground. Nice place for a stroll in the forest, and even with designated camping areas around the park.

This park is a good sized place for any family. It's a hidden gem if you live near it. Easy stream access, camping zone, even archery and fishing. There's a lot to do and plenty to see.

Pretty fun course, but it can be unforgiving. A few holes close to very deep water, and some very thick rough can eat discs. Some of the terrain could prove difficult to some. I wouldn't bring beginners here unless you decide to skip a few of the more treacherous holes. As a more intermediate player, I enjoy this course very much.

This is my favorite park in central Ohio, love walking the trails, photographing wildlife and taking my daughter to play.

  • 5/5 Benjamin O. 8 months ago on Google
Tent camping areas available, trails are well maintained and scenery is beautiful. Scioto river suffers from running through a major metropolitan area and does not exude confidence in its cleanliness. Trails do offer excellent views of the river and iffy access depending on water level.

This is an amazing metro park. Great landscape design, paths for all activity level. The bridge and stone path over the creek is amazing and all trails I have been on are dog friendly. New favorite!

The parks that are part of the Columbus Metro Park system continue to be amazing places to take your kids for outdoor activities. Scioto Grove along the river is awesome. Easy hiking trails throughout the park but the signage could improve a little bit. Thought I was on the REI river trail but in reality I was just making my own trail. I ended up climbing up the side of the hill to find the true trail. Noticed three other families get confused and took the wrong path while trying to get to the Rope Bridge. The rope triangle playground is fun for all our ages. My daughter climbed up six or seven times and would have climbed it more if we didn’t have to leave. The playground is even strong enough for a grown adult to climb up. Despite the minor issues with the trail signage this park doesn’t disappoint and lives up to the high level of quality that Columbus Metro Parks produces.

The trails are lovely and not crowded. Not super challenging but a very nice experience and the backpacking, archery and canoeing are a nice added bonus. We will be back to do a quick overnight backpacking adventure.

Very nice park! Very quiet too! I kayak several times a week and the Scioto River runs along the park. They have a nice launch park both at the park and downriver at Hibbs Rd. Just wish they would keep the Hibbs Rd launch open during the winter!

Another Columbus Metropark. They are all impressive. My idea of what public parks should be. Green space, activities, naturalists, rangers, etc. Always impressed.

Always a good time here. The hikes are good and the playground is good for kids. The shelters are modern and would be great for hosting a party. I haven’t camped overnight but the sites are great and spread out.

One of the most well kept city parks I have seen. Big bonus points for having a dedicated drone area, far away enough from people to safely take off and land. Got great sunset shots!!!

  • 5/5 David E. 2 years ago on Google
This park started out small and has grown to be a very nice park, nice walking trails and pretty scenery. The Tokes memorial here is beautiful ( may she rest in peace ). They have a fishing pond, nice camping sites, playground is nice, Frisby golf course, archery range, picnic tables with grills some sheltered, very clean also. Just be sure to take a trash bag to clean up after yourself and dogs so we can continue to enjoy the clean park
