Stayed
at
Ritz
Abama
with
children
ages
7
and
9.
The
resort
is
nice,
although
the
villas
seem
more
upscale
than
the
hotel
itself.
Room
-
very
nice,
contemporary,
new
decor,
lovely
water
view.
Location:
middle
of
nowhere,
which
is
kind
of
nice
to
be
honest
-
away
from
the
riff
raff
of
old
hotels
and
apartment
buildings
and
throngs
of
tourists
that
are
so
prevalent
on
the
island.
Beach:
definitely
a
highlight!
Sandy,
sheltered
from
the
waves,
spots
for
jumping
in,
little
pools
for
exploring,
plenty
large
to
swim
good
laps.
Kids
amenities
-
this
is
a
good
resort
if
your
kids
are
happy
at
the
pool
or
beach
and
not
much
else.
Main
pool
is
decent
but
water
temp
is
on
the
cool
side;
my
request
to
increase
the
water
temp
was
denied.
The
pool
itself
needs
some
maintenance;
looks
lovely
from
a
distance
but
you
see
the
wear
and
tear
close
up.
Should
be
flawless
at
the
Ritz.
Would
also
be
nice
to
have
a
hot
tub
as
there’s
plenty
of
space
for
one
(or
multiple).
There
is
a
paid
kids
club
but
the
activities
offered
(Halloween
crafts,
board
games)
aren’t
that
compelling
to
bigger
kids
and
my
kids
weren’t
interested.
Would
have
been
nice
if
there
were
an
outdoor
chess
game,
or
pool
table,
or
ping
pong,
or
water
slide,
or
table
football,
or
video
game
room,
or
mini
golf,
or
an
outdoor
movie…
something
for
bigger
kids
to
do
other
than
play
in
the
water.
There
is
a
cute
playground
but
it’s
really
geared
toward
5
and
under.
I
would
have
loved
to
have
played
golf
with
my
kids
but
Abama
requires
golf
handicaps
which
they
don’t
have.
So,
if
your
kids
can’t
spend
a
week
at
the
pool/beach
and
nothing
else,
you
might
want
to
look
elsewhere.
(Siam
water
park
is
a
20-min
drive
and
worth
a
Visit).
Food
-
breakfast
was
fine
but
nothing
great.
Plenty
of
selection
but
nothing
memorable
nor
upscale.
Have
had
much
better
and
more
creative
breakfasts
at
4-star
hotels.
Loud
cafeteria-style
breakfast
room
with
tons
of
other
guests
walking
back
and
forth
to
the
buffet.
Made
me
feel
like
I
was
on
a
cruise
ship.
Verona:
Good
food
and
good
service,
but
kids
menu
featured
a
brownie
which
was
both
dry
and
rock
hard
(I
needed
two
hands
to
force
a
fork
into
it)
and
loaded
with
walnuts
(most
kids
abhor
nuts,
mine
included).
Odd
thing
in
my
opinion
to
include
on
a
kids
menu,
especially
without
disclosing
it’s
got
nuts.
Also
disappointing
that
even
flat
water
was
a
surcharge
considering
the
copious
amounts
of
complimentary
plastic
bottled
water
in
the
room.
(And
why
not
use
aluminum
or
glass?).
Ambience
at
Verona
also
could
be
improved.
The
place
is
loud,
crowded
and
uses
strong
glaring
lights
-
again,
felt
like
a
cruise
ship
and
didn’t
feel
very
Ritz.
(Even
some
candles
or
table
lights
would
have
improved
the
ambience).
Beach
club
service
was
exceptionally
slow.
40-mins
wait
for
a
kids
burger
at
3PM.
