Despite of some comments and the web information, the Tower is closed. It's a shame because the surroundings are beautiful and the view is breathtaking. Recommend to go to see the view.

Nice views of guarda. The castle itself is just a tiny tower and was closed with no timetable on the door.

Elevation 1,085, ft. Great history. Walk the streets and enhance your knowledge of the history, plaques will provide that information. A place not to miss.

A spot on top of the city and hills. Calm with interesting items to see around.

The tower is always closed. Still, this is the highest place in the highest city of Portugal. Definitely worth checking it out for the amazing view over the city and Serra da Estrela.

Parked here in the dark, windy and dramatic. When we woke we walked around the castle which is surprisingly interesting.

There's not actually a castle nor an interpretative centre, it is actually a tower.

There's only a tower. That's it. At least it is well conserved.

This is beautiful, a great experience even when we can’t go to the roof because of the snow. Love it.

Great view from the top of your legs can take the climb. Nearby is the se da Guarda which is also worth a visit. There is an elevator on the side but it was not open on the day I was there.

The tower is permanent closed. The views of the highest point in the city are lovely.
