Whilst walking around the shopping area we ended up here. This was a beautifully landscaped park with lots of greenery and monuments inside and outside the park. It is larger than Seminario park. It is free to visit and open to the public. There are seats so you can sit in the park. The shopping district is not to far from here as well as there are lots of restaurants around the area.

Great place to relax on my way to Malecón del Salado from Malecón 2000. Sit under the mango trees and listen to the birds. I have really enjoyed relaxing in this park away from the noises if the street and protected from the hot sun.

(Translated by Google) Important tourist place in the city that commemorates the feat of the Independence of Guayaquil on October 9, 1820. The monument "Column to the Próceres del 9 de Octubre" was inaugurated on October 9, 1920, when commemorating the centenary of Independence , hence the name of the park. The column is flanked in its 4 cardinal points by the statues of Olmedo, Antepara, Villamil and Febres Cordero.
