A beautiful and historic gate. It is one of the 5 gates of Hansi. It leads up to the Asigarh Fort. Do visit and also try Hansi’s famous Peda while you’re there.
The Barsi Gate of Hansi was built by Sultan Alauddin Khilji in 1303 AD. A Persian inscription above the gate details its construction. Later, in 1522 AD.Barsi Gate, Hansi, is a historic heritage site. It is said that Hansi was originally located within four gates: Barsi Gate, Delhi Gate, Umra Gate, and Gosai Gate. Currently, only Barsi Gate remains as a heritage site.
It is one of the five gate that surrounded the walled city of Hansi (only this gate is remaining rest 4(Hisar, Gosain, Delhi and Umra) were demolished). It was constracted by Alaud-din-Khilji in 14th century and later repaired by Ibrahim Lodhi in 16th century. The height of gate is around 30 m.
The historical background of this place holds many interesting facts. Being one of the biggest fort (ruins) in Haryana, the Hansi fort can be a big crowd puller for the tourists. Archeological Survey of India are doing their best to save what is left and restore its rich heritage. Recommended to visit with family and kids.
Loved visiting this historic place in the middle of the city. There used to be five gates of the city and this is the only remaining one. I wish the place was cleaner and maintained. The gates are locked and you are not allowed to go up stairs.
