That
between-Christmas-and-New-Year
period
means
that
the
relatively
few
places
open
for
lunch
on
a
Tuesday
get
hammered
with
Customer
bookings
and
walk-ins.
This,
combined
with
some
unskilled
staff
and
staff
who
would
rather
be
elsewhere
meant
our
visit
to
Padbury's
was
disappointing.
We
let
a
staff
member
know
we
were
there
waiting
at
the
door
on
arrival.
That
staff
member
then
started
serving
another
Customer
who
came
in
later,
ignoring
us.
After
getting
pointed
to
a
table
we
had
to
get
our
own
menus
and
then
had
to
go
to
the
serving
counter
to
ask
if
it
was
table
service
(which
it
was)
because
no
staff
came
near
us.
We
got
our
own
napkins.
We
had
to
ask
for
water
twice.
Our
drinks
came
20
minutes
after
ordering
them.
The
first
meal
arrived
about
5
to
10
minutes
before
the
others.
No
cutlery
was
offered
-
we
had
to
ask.
The
hot
meal
I
ordered
came
out
cool.
One
meal
came
out
incorrect.
The
meals
were
tasty
in
spite
of
the
above.
Customers
with
prams
couldn't
get
in
or
out
of
the
main
door
without
bending
down
to
floor
level
to
undo
the
bolt
on
the
other
door.
One
Customer
with
a
pram
asked
a
staff
member
if
it
was
OK
to
unbolt
the
door.
That
staff
member
said
it
was
OK
but
stood
1m
away
at
the
computer
and
didn't
offer
to
assist
-
a
small
gesture
that
wouldn't
have
taken
long
and
been
an
example
of
good
Customer
service.
The
interior
of
the
restored
heritage
building
was
nicely
decorated,
the
air-conditioning
was
very
welcome
on
a
stinking
hot
day
and
when
we
mentioned
the
cold
meal
a
discount
was
offered,
so
thumbs
up
for
that.
I
understand
that
hosting
a
full
house
during
the
Christmas
break
can
put
pressure
on
a
cafe,
but
I
won't
be
going
back
to
Padbury's
in
a
hurry
