Where
do
we
start?
We
spent
3
days
at
Saldo
Mar
using
it
as
a
base
to
visit
Bubaque
and
the
nearby
island
of
Carnhabaque.
As
soon
as
we
entered
the
gate
of
this
small
and
intimate
place
we
were
blown
away
by
the
attention
to
detail.
The
sculptured
furniture,
seashell
sinks,
a
surround
sound
system
playing
classical
tunes
in
the
morning,
a
small
path
leading
down
to
the
beach,
and
a
magical
view
on
the
nearby
island
of
the
archipelago
all
come
together
to
create
the
impression
of
small
safe
heaven.
A
peaceful
place
where
you
can
switch
off,
forget
about
the
outside
world
and
focus
on
the
tasty
food
cooked
by
the
master-mind
behind
this
unpretentious
B&B-
Melchior.
Melchior,
is
generous,
funny
and
kind.
Add
to
this
list
the
fact
that
heโs
an
excellent
chef
and
youโve
got
quite
the
recipe
for
a
good
stay.
Heโs
also
conscious
of
his
environmental
footprint
which
is
why
there
is
no
use
of
plastic
bottles,
and
all
energy
is
produced
thanks
to
solar
panels.
When
youโre
staying
at
Saldo
Marโs
there
is
a
feeling
that
youโve
been
invited
into
his
home.
It
feels
personal,
and
so
the
interactions
between
travelers
and
the
host
mirrors
exactly
this.
Hands
down
one
of
the
best
places
we
have
been
to
in
west
Africa
so
far.
