I've had numerous sub par experiences with hurricane harbor over the past five years, but Sat June 3rd 2023 takes the cake for the worst. 2/3rds of the attractions were closed. Mat slides closed. Tube slides in the back of park by kids area closed. Kids slides closed. Lazy river also closed. Drop slides closed. Family raft slides both closed. Their new water coaster they advertise like crazy for, closed halfway through the day. What little that was open, had such a long queue, because everything else was closed, it wasn't even viable. By that I mean 60+ mins to get a raft and go down a slide. So anyone purchasing a day pass here basically got the equivalent of access to their neighborhood pool, since it was the only thing useable. Which also meant the pool was overcrowded. Amazing that such a large increase in season pass fees and they can't even come remotely close to staffing the park the first hot weather weekend day after memorial day weekend. Food lines were crazy long. We waited 19minutes for burgers being 2nd in line before the lunch rush, which means 30+ mins easy to get food during lunchtime. (yes, I time my meals at six flags from time ordered at register on my receipt, because it's become the family standing joke after multiple previous 50+ minute waits for food.). I highly recommend to avoid this park until they get it together, or at least go in with the lowest possible expectations. Pics of a few of the many closed attractions.

Last day at Hurricane Harbor was great 👍 not too hot or that much too people…. The ladies showers were nasty 🤮🤢 and dirty, also the stairs to some the water slides seemed like if they haven’t been cleaned all season long.

The staff was very professional and polite, but unfortunately it didn’t make up for everything else the park was lacking. 9 out of 17 rides were closed due “lifeguard shortages” the park wasn’t very upkept as far as curb appeal. The park seemed a little aged and what’s presented online on the six flag site is a bit misleading with some of the rides. Also it cost $15 for ONE slice of pizza! Overall I wouldn’t go back. My kids that are 6 and 12 enjoyed themselves but they also enjoy playing in puddles lol. Save your money 😞

On the disappointing side - all the body slides were closed, and the one tower of four tube slides were operated very slowly, only one rider at a time down all four. I really like the water coaster since you can ride it solo, but there are only like 5 rafts and you have to stand in line for a long time for one, then walk up a TON of stairs since SF didn't feel the need to include a lift hill. Wave pool waves are pretty small, compared to others, and even the kid's splash tower was closed except for the bottom level. Attractions-wise, and operations-wise, it's disappointing.

This slide and upper part of the kid zone is closed today. It would be really helpful if they mentioned closed attractions on their website. Everything seems run down and dirty, despite all they pairs of workers armed with brooms and dustpans walking around in pairs and talking to one another. It's a water park, and it will be fun, but I'm not overly impressed.

Absolutely horrible experience. Every lounge chair was taken except the “reserved section”. There was a huge line just to get a tube only to wait in line to go down one of the water slides. Bypassed that. The water slide that has tubes that drop you down the slide was shut down. Finally found a chair to set our things in and we went to the lazy river- closed due to not having enough staff. The wave pool and other pools were so crowded that you couldn’t even turn around. Grabbed put things and headed to the entrance to request a refund only to be repetitively told that there are no refunds or rain checks (scripted). Got no where with Michael (aka supervisor) and went to Guest relations. Waited in turn style line in blasting heat for 30 minutes only to be told (scripted again) that there are no exceptions to the no refund/rain check policy even though the lazy river was closed as well as the other slides. Yaz was supposedly the supervisor in Guest relations and was very rude and condescending. The water park was filthy and swarming with people.

Comparing last year to this year: last year was there was a staffing issue. I know many summer positions are covered with young people coming from out of the country and Covid caused visa issues. Due to this, rides and the lazy river were closed all season. All ready this year, it’s a big change. They seem to be fully staffed or very close to it. Lazy river is open. A few of the slides were closed but it could be due to maintenance after being used more last year. Prices are high like always and they close randomly, assuming for weather. I always check before we come. Overall, it’s always fun when we come and I feel they are doing their best given the circumstances of the past few years.

Took over $100 for admission, then I couldn't sit down because I only had a platinum season pass and not a diamond elite season pass that allows you to purchase the right to sit in one of their many empty chairs. Would be less of a problem without needing to carry towels and all for many kids. Many guests trying to camp in one tiny section of free seating. This is not hyperbole or sarcasm, it is how this park works, even when all these reserved extra charge seats are empty. Biggest issue, as others have said, majority of the rides are closed with zero notice. For our visit, they closed the entire park at 2pm due to rain. They originally offered no compensation. Since posting this review and contacting their support team directly they have offered a pass for another day, but I have not accepted, as none of the kids involved want to return, plus it has gotten too cold for a waterpark at this point. We live about half an hour away and will never visit them again. Six flags definitely, but not Hurricane Harbor. What a SCAM. They should be ashamed of the way they leech from people. Anyone you see giving more than a 1 star review shouldn't be trusted.

More than half the slides are closed & they’re operating the open tube rides SUPER inefficiently. Not worth it all. Don’t waste your money! They have no excuse, the tickets/passes should be discounted for every slide/ride that isn’t operating for false advertising. Also they closed the entrance so you can’t go through from six flags.. this place just keeps going down hill. They can and need to do better.

Only went here because we got a good deal on a general Six Flags pass and it was a beautiful 80 degree Sunday. We would never pay the whopping 50.00 one day entry fee because you can't do much. Only 9 of about 30 slides were actually open and the lines were crazy. Most stuff that was open was for 48" and up only....so the 15 slides toward the back of the park, and in the kiddy pirate area that our slightly smaller 7 year old could have ridden were all closed. The app said more stuff was open than in reality. Lazy river was also closed. We tried to get a chair by the wave pool but there is only a small area of chairs not in the premium section that you have to pay extra for, so we had to just leave our stuff on the wet ground in order to enjoy that area. Didn't bother with getting food, but it is probably worse than airport prices and takes forever I have heard. What a let down... We hope they get it together because it could really be a fantastic water park if they had enough staff to have everything open in the middle of summer.

A fun place to visit especially in conjunction with six flags, it's too bad they aren't attached anymore. The park offers numerous water attractions from slides and a lazy river to even a water coaster. Great for a half day when you are getting a few roller coasters rides in the morning and want to cool off and check out some other benefits for season pass holders.

There’s a lazy river, a wave pool, dipping pool and multiple slides. Get there early to get s seat on the weekends as it can get crowded. The cabanas in my opinion are over priced and are mostly empty, I believe if they were more affordable they would be fully rented. Very close to both Chicago and Milwaukee about a 45 min drive.

The kids had a blast! The water was perfect temp for my baby to have a great time in the small child area. We went on a week day so there was plenty of seating no need for reservations. We also jumped on all the slides pretty quick with very small lines. Bring shoes to walk from area to area there's lots of things on the ground to step on.

Boy, did this place go downhill. Not worth the price for admission, plus the $35 for parking. Most of the rides were closed down, which were the ones we of course wanted to go on. The lines weren’t even that long, but there were still long waits, mainly for the ones were the tubes were brought up on the conveyor belt, I swear there must’ve been 2 or 3 of those tubes for both of the lines, which prolonged the wait, even with there being not that many people. The staff and lifeguards weren’t friendly or welcoming, they were like robots. Save your money, go to the Dells, their rides are ten times more fun and you’d most likely be saving your money.

Not worth the price of admission. Half the rides were closed. There were three tubes for two three person rides to share causing a huge wait time despite the park not being that busy. You are only supposed to go around lazy river once as a ride, but life guard not enforcing, agin causing huge wait time. Food areas serve only one type of food making you walk around the entire park if family members want different things. Food service person did not know how to use the voucher we received from GA, wasting time as we waited for a manager. Customer service person, though friendly, provided wrong information wasting more of our time. Women’s bathroom was gross and smelled of urine. Save a little more money to stay a day or two at Wisconsin Dells. Much better run and more enjoyable.

I really enjoy this water park. There are many attractions suitable for all ages & accommodate all personalities whether you want to relax in a pool, lazy river, wave pool, or go on slides which allow for all ages. Multiple slides can still accommodate younger children w/ an adult or a sibling friend who meets the height requirement. I’d also personally like to thank an employee named Will, who I believe is a manager. When closing he ensured my 2 little girls were not sent down after they were in line prior to close. He went out of his way to make sure they were able to go on the slide they were in line for & when they got sent down he made sure they went right back up & got to experience the slide they were in line for. It’s rare to find employees who care & are willing to take that extra few minutes to pay attention & make sure my kids got what they came for. THANK YOU WILL!!! 🙏

I should have read the reviews. More than half of the slides not running due to staff shortages (so they say, not buying it). They need new management as that’s a management problem . Wasn’t too crowded but because no slides open, long wait for slides. Should get half my money back!

A horrible experience from start to finish for my daughter's 10th birthday. They had to temporarily close the pools/rides about 20 minutes after we got there due to thunder, which is obviously not their fault. They then reopened for about half an hour before completely shutting down the park and making everyone leave, without offering any refunds or alternate date tickets. We were there for less than 2 hours total, spent $200+ and only got 20 minutes of water time. Cash grabbing jerks who ruin kids' birthdays.

Horrible experience ever. 3 times out of four we visited this summer, more than half of the “attractions”/slides were closed! They charge a fortune, you drive 45minutes and only here you’re notified the rides are closed. Last time we tried to call the day before the guy had no clue and absolutely useless and wasn’t even able to contact the local facility. We came here and again only 4 rides were open. There is no customer service and no care obviously why would they when you get less staff and charge the same! As a minimum they could have put a note on the website but again why would you if $$$….

All body slides closed, the stairs for all of the tube slides were disgusting and covered in some kind of black sludge. The water coaster ride broke down four times while we were in line for it and the wave pool was randomly closed for over a half hour. The lines were so long for everything (even the lazy River, I’ve never had to wait in a line for a Lazy river at any other Waterpark) and I get it, it was a very very busy weekend… but with so many things closed and so many people, the wait times were unbearable.

Awesome place to take the kids lunch, dinner and a snack woo hoo Just went to hurricane harbor at six flags great 🇺🇸 Monday August 1st, 2022 and was suprised to see how little six flags values the people who support them and continued paying for memberships during covid (while not going during the covid pandemic). Well they valued us so much that they took away our seating area and moved us considerably back over by the smoking section with only about 35-40 seats. No consideration for the handicapped having to walk just that much further and can't watch our belongings while in the wave pool but now all the seating all the way around the wave pool is for the rich who can afford to pay an extra $35.00 per person, per seat to sit up front. I get one check a month, (disability), no other income, no husband or boyfriend and now am pushed to the back by Six Flags Great America! Very disappointing especially when I asked for corporates phone number...which nobody knew. Very sad and disappointing to say the least! It's all about the money 💰 now. They don't care about the loyalty we offered them during the hard times of covid. SHAME ON THEM!!!!

Hurricane Harbor visit for the first time. Everyday hours during summer were 11-5 and the line moved pretty quick at open time to enter. Park was spread out nicely and food options were everywhere. A few of the rides were down for the day which was a bummer but plenty to do overall. Only gripe was the lines at some of the rides. Numerous tube rides had a wait time of 30-45 min which is no different than the six flags roller coasters but longer than expected overall. Being that the season pass isn’t expensive, I’m sure we’ll revisit again next summer.

This used to be a great place but my past experience was horrible. Many attractions were closed on the say I and my son went. Also, in the wave pool and the wading pool, I ended up having someone's hair wrapped around my fingers. They staff once kept this part of Great America clean, but now it's rather dirty.

There needs to be some kind of limited capacity for attendance. In the morning, when it first opened, everything had a reasonable wait time. Not even an hour later, the lines to go on anything were 1hr+ wait time. Pools, food lines, and even the lazy river had ridiculous lines. We spent the majority of our day waiting. I stood in a line for a slide at 11am and didn't get onto it until 2pm. It got to a point where none of us were having fun anymore and we left early. Literally packed like sardines everywhere you went. It might've just been a busy day, but I don't think I'll return here for a while. Also, the overall cleanliness of the park isn't great. Pools were a little cloudy and had lots of hair in them which grossed me out.

The kids loved it of course, plenty of areas for kids to play in of all ages. There were many slides and larger rides that were not operational at this time. The food was expensive, to be expected, and the wait for food and rides were long. My kids enjoyed it but they said Great Wolf lodge was better...its next door.

Fright Fest is a hauntingly thrilling event that transforms this park into a realm of darkness, screams, and spine-tingling chills. The park is transformed into a nightmarish dreamscape with eerie lighting, fog machines, and sinister music. The scares aren't limited to the haunted houses; lurking monsters and ghouls roam the park, keeping you on edge even as you stroll between attractions. The haunted houses pass is about 30$ which allows you entry to 6 of those. One of the haunted houses wasnt available cause it had rained and was shutdown tp avoid any mishaps from happening. I can't wait to return next year to see what new horrors await at Fright Fest. It's an experience that will haunt my nightmares in the best possible way.
