5+2🌟 I've eaten steaks, prime rib, and lobster all over the United States. Compared to other steakhouses, you get good value for your dollar. It's a local entity it's been there for a good while. I've never had a rude or unknowledgeable server. 👍One of the best servers we've had anywhere is Eric! He is worth every penny of a 30 or 40% tip. Eric made sure that our glasses were full, we had enough butter and inquired about our satisfaction several times.👍 If you haven't had the Brandy alexander, get one, you won't be disappointed! I am Native American my wife is African-American, we go there for steak and lobster a couple of times a month. The ribeye is fantastic, the prime rib is delicious, I love the the end piece, the selection of wine and drink is top-notch. You know a steakhouse that serves seafood also has a good grill master when you don't need to drench your entrée with steak sauce or butter. The flavor of the steak and the flavor of the seafood tells the story. We will continue to go back every couple of weeks as a treat to ourselves, we wouldn't do it if it was terrible or unpalatable cuisine, there are too many other places to spend our money. I will say this, you will spend about half of what you would at the Hob Nob up the road in Wisconsin, and the food is better! 😲👍 Hint, when you order the lobster tail, tell them to put it on the grill for a few minutes to give it a little sear on top, it just enhances the flavor tremendously. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Also the salad bar isn't active anymore until the covid outbreak is over and done with🥺

For a Tuesday dinner time this place hardly had people in it. We came here for a date night and were greeted very kindly. We were walked to our table where Jackie did a great job of serving us. We decided to go with some cheese curds to start. They were actually good and crispy- served with a side of ranch. Wife and I both got a salad that was decent. We are it with a small loaf of bread and butter. For the main entree we decided to try the ribeye steak and NY strip steak. Both of these steaks were 14oz and cooked to a perfect medium doneness. Steaks were juicy and tasty. Only added a bit of salt for my taste but boy was it a delicious experience. Added a baked potato and some veggies as the sides. Now that we got a chance to try their steaks I'm for sure coming back to try some of their other cuts soon. We left very full and satisfied.

I chose this place based on menu pricing and the reviews online. To my surprise the price that shows online is no longer valid, the steak I wanted was supposed to be $38 instead it was $54. So be aware, server said those prices were pre covid. My suggestion: update your prices! I was craving a juicy steak asked for it medium well, took a while to get drinks and soup, then, disappointment as my $54 steak was very dry and not yummy at all, however, I told the server and she took it back and got me another one, manager came over and Apologized and gave us a glass of wine on the house, my 2nd steak was 😋 delicious. Overall, the restaurant,'s decor is old and I thought the service was a bit slow but the charcoal flavor on the steak was great and the lobster bisque soup was pretty good. Would I come back again? 🤔 not sure...

We just enjoyed an incredible meal at the Backyard Pit. We started off with the Ahi Tuna appetizer, and that was incredible. Grilling it over charcoal added an incredible flavor that I had never had (and we have ahi tuna appetizer alot). We then followed that with the prime rib 12 oz and 24 oz cuts. My wife got the lobster bisque and I got the clam chowder. Both soups were excellent and portions were larger than we expected. And the prime rib, oh my...so, so soft and flavorful. Cooked to perfection. We finished it off with the Italian lemon cake.

The food & service were outstanding!!! Many food & drink options to choose from. I had the the twin lobster tails & my fiancee the grilled chicken & grilled shrimp. All were fantastic!! Our server Abby was awesome!!! Highly recommend.

Our Sailor wanted a steak...and boy did she get one...said it was the best ever and our wonderful servers led by Karen were wonderfully amazing! They even expressed and demonstrated concern for us returning our Sailor on time to base. 10001 choices around but she can't wait to go back. Thank you for the great ending to a great day!

Hidden gem behind a Mobile station!! We've lived in this area for over 20 years and never knew it existed!! Came here with my parent's for my birthday... DELICIOUS steaks and sides! We got there early...5ish, on a Thursday (they open at 4pm), and by 6pm they were packed! Great bar, food and lots of TVs, and I'll be coming back with my friends! Only cons: Very pricey and no free cake or pie for your birthday! :(

All in all the food was good not great. Our bill for the night surprised us. Will definitely be back but not with the same selections. If you want your steak grill seared this is the place though and you will appreciate the results.

Biggest and best cut of prime rib I've ever had! Reasonably priced. Great atmosphere! Our cook and server were wonderful, and food was remarkable.. Will absolutely be back again! Cheers!

Haven’t been to this restaurant in years. Ordered the Ribeye and New York strip medium well. It was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Nice atmosphere. One downfall was that we were a party of two that got seated in the back with large groups of people and kids in the back when the main dining area had open tables.

We went to Backyard. It was very good! But waitress had a bad attitude. She was happier to see us leave than when we got seated. And very sub-par service. Even when we left, my husband’s finished plate was still sitting in front of him. Earlier, my friend had to move our dishes to the table next to us because she didn’t care to remove them. That’s ok, it was noted when we left tip. 15%. Which was more than she deserved.

Had a great dinner here recently. The Italian Beef Egg Rolls were a unique appetizer that were really tasty. Steaks cooked to perfection with a nice char on them from the grill. Only minor issue would be with the temperature of the mashed potatoes, but they were still tasty. Would recommend.

I really enjoyed the food and the ambience. The outside gives you casual vibes and the inside gave classy. Candlelit dinner with tablecloths. Steak was cooked to perfection and the drinks were strong. Shoutout to the bartender. Lol

My husband and I walked in 5 minutes after the kitchen closed on Thursday night. Instead of sending us away like a typical restaurant would the manager and bartender heartily agreed to seat us and serve us - all with such good spirit. Arthur, our bartender/server delivered our drinks quickly and the manager made sure our food arrived in a flash. The quality of the drinks and food were not comprised at all. Both took such good care of us and were so pleasant and friendly to us. It has been a long time since we left a restaurant where we felt that customers do come first. Big Thanks go out to the staff! Danny was my server for the party of 13 He was very nice and he took care of my Party. I was having an Anniversary of 1 yr. For having a successful Kidney Transplant. My Party enjoyed themselves My family have been coming to this Restaurant since 2000. Backyard will always be a special place for me and my family.

Backyard steak pit is really great for date night or a night out with the family. It has a great ambiance and I loved their seasonal decor. The service was really great and our waitress was wonderful! The food was pretty good, but the steak could have used more flavor. It was missing something and I found myself needing to add salt which I almost never do to a steak. It was cooked perfectly though (medium well). The mashed potatoes were really great and dessert was amazing(Lovin Oven anyone?!). It was a huge piece of Red Velvet. Definitely a 4 out of 5 for us. I would return but would get something different.

Really enjoy eating here every time I'm in the area. They have great steaks and burgers!

We celebrated our anniversary with Prime Rib cooked to perfection. Each time we have dine here we are always pleased. Great local restaurant. Our waitress Jackie was courteous and attentive. All making our day memorable.

One of the best restaurants in Gurnee. I love the old school salad bar (hopefully they can open it back after covid), the soup is always good and the centerpiece 8' x 4' charcoal grill that they grill everything to order on is awesome. Always good food, at reasonable prices. I go for the steak but do not miss the grilled shrimp, I've never had better!!
