It's located at guskara , purba_burdwan district. It's approximate 500 years old. It's famous for theri durga puja, kali puja and jagodhatri puja. Family members are very good and they maintain their palace very well.💌

Visited this place on Astami'23, on the way to Bolpur. I have travelled this path several times but never visited this grand palace before. The thakurdalan as well as the courtyard was grand in scale. The whole courtyard was covered with a Saminana & the ambience was majestic! Definitely worth a visit during Durga Puja!

"Chongdar Bari" in english translation Chongder's House. This is one of the best historical place in the district of Burdwan. Some people says that is is the maternal uncels house of Chand Roy One of the BARO VUIYAN (বারো ভুইঁয়া) The Badsha of Mughal empire has given this title CHONGDER to them. They were the VAKTA of Shiva. Maharshi Debendranath tegor requested them to give the entire land of the part of guskar for establishing his Ashram (PRESENTLY SHANTINIKATAN) here. But as because the Tagor was from the Bramva society, the then Chongder jamindar was refused to donate the land. Here people can see the oldest Durgapuja

It is one of the oldest Raj Bari in Burdwan Dostrict. Looks very royal from Inside. The erstwhile raja, the Chongdar family is very down to earth and serves the society with their social service activities.

It's an old bid zamindar house. I specially visit this place in Durga and Kali puja. Because that's the good time for visit this place.

Nice behaviour of local people and recent genaration of zamindar. Beautiful ambiance of thakur dalan. You can find lots of jhar bati of that time which actually working in this days also.

The heritage site of Guskara history is home to the Chongas. Heart of Guskara - These Chongas own houses but are no longer aristocracy. These walls bear witness to a very old history. Starting from people's living, food, clothes, nobility, the use of people with other people, slaves, laborers, workers, everything has been lost in time. Only the history of these four walls has survived. Even though there are successors of these buildings, they are not able to take care of them. . One way or another, most of them have been sent abroad today. All that exists is the temple of the kuldevata of these families. Their care, maintenance, daily worship is still going on.

One thing I would like to add that here in thakur bari you can have mutton but onion and garlic is not allowed So whatever mutton is prepared during boli is made without onion and garlic and it tastes delicious.

I think It is always closed, opens during Durga Puja, Durga Puja is celebrated here with great festive mood and Rajbongshi type...the best time to visit here is during Durga Puja.if you have interest to old monument, old architecture...then it is great to visit
