If you like architectural beauty, if you like calmness, if have 15-20 minutes time you may visit. These are tomb of Mohammad Ghaus and Tansen. Nicely maintained garden gives nice look to tomb overall. Situated in tight crowded spot but once you enter main gate its not crowded at all. Footfall is limited. No entry fees.

The place has tomb of Tansen and Md. Gaus. It is surrounded by garden and built during Mughal era. Recently a lot of restoration has been done to bring back the old beauty of this place. Famous Tansen samaroh happens every year at this place where musicians across India comes here to present. The wait time is none and Thursday will be bit crowded. These days I have observed that guards are not allowing people to stay inside and sit in the garden. So please check before going.

Visited it on a weekday on a November morning. It is a "maqbara" of Muhammad Ghaus (or Ghawth), the sufi teacher of Tansen and Tansen himself with multiple others. The building is old and charming but the localites use it as a jogging park / gym. The surroundings are also unkept. Effort of few is keeping this place from falling. There's history in every corner of Gwalior city, still we don't respect it, unlike many European destinations which are relatively new historically and yet thrive on the tourism! How to visit: Take a cab/auto during early hours, post 1000h, you'll be stuck in traffic. Sunrise is beautiful!

Tansen was one of India's best musicians and an excellent vocalist in Akbar's courts during the medieval period. He was also one of the Mughal court's nine pearls. Tansen's music was said to have the power to generate magic, cause rain, and even captivate animals. Mohammad Ghaus, who taught him Hindustani classical music, was his teacher. Tansen's mausoleum, also known as the Tansen Memorial, is an obvious pick among the various Gwalior tourist attractions. Tansen was a Gwalior Gharana pioneer in Hindustani Classical music during the reign of the Mughals. He supported the Dhrupad style and the Gwalior Gharana style of music. He was buried beside his teacher, and the burial place is a work of art in its own right. The main building is on the tomb of Mohammed Ghaus, while Tansen's tomb lay without much fanfare. Personally, I thought much more could have been done for tourist attractions. It is believed that Tansen used to chew Tamarind leaves to sharpen his voice and thus a Tamarind tree is planted beside his tomb. An annual music festival is held nationally in November and December in the Tansen Memorial Complex.

Removing one star from this absolutely 5 star place simply because of ASIs apathy. The original gate and ancillary gate are both hidden from plain sight. Plaques or guiding signage are either defaced or hidden. Original gate or main entry is shut apparently because of illegal parking on campus which the city adminstration is unable to regulate. Ancillary gate can only be found with help of locals. It's difficult to locate on map. Parking is available on site but cannot be accessed due to narrow approach lane. Ticketing is not necessary and monument is open from sunrise to sunset.

Well maintained placed inside a crowded marked. Better visit in the morning before 8 AM. Do not take your personal vehicle, no parking space. After 10 AM you have to go through heavy bumper to bumper mixed traffic.

The main central dome is actually a cemetery of Muhammad Ghaus, Tansen's is in right of it. The place is so nice and quite with trees and birds all around. Although the security and maintenance is not good enough.

Very calm place near by old Gwalior city. No parking area for visitors, no tickets, surrounding area captured by ??? Only few people are interested to see this Makbara, as I experienced. A must visit place in Gwalior to experience the old Karigari on rocks. More sign boards or detail's should be there for tourists.

No tickets required to visit this place. Frankly, I did find it overwhelming. I expected a lot however, was kinda upset after the visit. Can be a miss if you are on a tight schedule.

Really liked the experience at the Maqbara. However the parking is an issue. I would recommend that one should either have a driver or get a cab to reach here.
