Sarod Ghar is closed now after COVID . We had visited the place with great excitement as my son is into classical music but the information online is not updated to reflect it as closed. The caretaker is very rude and totally spoiled the excitement. So save your time and dump this place from your visit list in Gwalior!

The museum was closed. After knocking on the door the caretaker came out and informed us that it was closed for the last two years and did not permit us to enter. From outside it looked grand. The museum is located in a crowded street.

The thing it is mostly famous for is that this was the home of the world renowned Sarod player Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. Now turned to a museum of music. The big let down about this place is the bad traffic at its location. Otherwise the collection of various musical instruments is definitely worth checking out. Sarod Ghar itself is quite beautiful too. It perfectly fits into the list of "places to go" in the historic city of Gwalior.

(Translated by Google) Sarod Ghar, a museum of music heritage, is a unique institution dedicated to promoting Indian classical music heritage and culture. Established in the name of Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan Sahab, the museum was once housed in the family's ancestral home in Gwalior. The house has a colorful history in which four generations of Sarod have been born. The project was inspired when Ustad Amjad Ali Khan visited the birthplace of Beethoven in Germany, realizing that no museum or monument has been built in the memory of our own great musicians, artists and writers, where fans and connoisseurs alike. Can get information from Life and times of the artist and tribute to him. The museum has a collection of old and contemporary instruments that belong to great and illustrious musicians of the past. It also has an impressive collection of photographs and documents. It is planned to compile a database on classical music in the form of books, articles, audio and audio-visual recordings to make it available to musicians and music lovers. Because of the renovations work the centre was closed. It is heard that the centre may open for visitors at the end of February 2020. So we are really unfortunate and unable to visit this memorable place.

Just a portion of mosque dedicated to preserve history of growth & development of sarod as a musical instrument. Maestro Amjad Ali Khan and his late father's contributions highlighted. More like a dull monument
