My first time in Germany and I am shocked this is called a 4 star hotel. They are not prepared at all for international guests...I do not expect people to speak perfect English, but the staff was rude even to German speaking guests (perhaps because they were Arab and Turkish?). Even more odd FULL payment was required up front which is generally not a standard practice...then they kicked us out of the rooms after we had decided to stay another night and had paid... Rooms had an awful smell, were not cleaned, and guests were LITERALLY forced to buy their own toilet paper after they refused to provide more! Not to mention wifi is advertised but doesn't work. I do not recommend anyone that is not German to stay here! In the US this would be a $40/night motel at best...not 4 stars at 120 euro a night. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Good hotel. Nice breakfast. But wifi dhcp is not working properly. You have to setup network manually. Also on mobile

Service in the restaurant is lovely, but unfortunately the food is a strange mix of flavours that don't always work together.

quiet, clean, friendly without being intrusive. Safe parking, good breakfast.

Outstanding cleanliness, very friendly staff and uncomplicated check in/out. The price was reasonable for a single room without breakfast booked on the very same day. What I did not like was the outdated toilet ( but perfectly functioning ) and the old carpet with apparent spots.

We had an excellent stay at Zum Schwanen and can only recommend it. Nice clean rooms and good food in the restaurant.

I had a horrible night in this place. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Bed was completely broken. From outside and also inside there was noise all night long. Asked the night service to do something about it (2am) and they told it’s my own problem.

Nice hotel. The only drawback is the waiter who is not present all the time: if you arrive early, you will have to call him by phone.

My stay was great. Good room, service, rates and location (spend a few days doing meetings in Cologne and region). Surely will consider for future trips.

Our stay at "Zum Schwanen" was amazing! The huge free parking just a few steps away on Schwanenplatz was a great convenience. The staff was incredibly helpful, and Christian went above and beyond, accommodating our special requests and providing extra storage for our equipment. Super nice guy and great chef!
