Great Vietnamese food. Kitty showed us how to eat the dishes like the Vietnamese pancake and bun Cha. The chicken spring rolls they recommended were one of the best as well. Definitely recommend as a good place to try a couple of good Vietnamese dishes with a hospitable host

Simple and unassuming restaurant in the Old Quarter with very good service and good food. I was served by Kitty and she was very nice and friendly. She explained the food well, taught me how to wrap and prepare the food. She even gave me tips on the places nearby that I can check out.

This restaurant was excellent on all accounts. Our server Finn was attentive, sweet and helpful. We are travelling from Australia so he even showed us how to eat the food properly. The pork belly with quail egg was beautifully tender and succulent with a lovely broth. The pork belly pancake was light, fresh and filling. The traditional fried pork was also flavourful. The five spice beef stir fry was soft, chewy and full of flavour. Our drinks were also excellent; I’d personally recommend the coconut coffee. Overall, a must-try restaurant in Hanoi with great service and refined flavours.

Here for their fried fish. Been eating beef and pork for the past few days. Fresh fish and greens. Miss Thanh attended to me. Friendly lady, speaks good English. She even showed me how to wrap my food with rice paper. I thought i just eat direct from the plates. Definitely taste better and feels more like authentic Hanoi food when u wrap with rice paper. Disposable gloves available upon request. Helps in handling the food by hand. Overall, pleasant experience and I enjoyed my lunch.

An medium size restaurant, right at the old quarter but it's so cozy, warm welcome and greatest Vietnamese foods ever made us happy and feel like home. Thank you so much the young man owner and his staffs give us the best service when we are to Hanoi. We will come back more and more time and highly recommend to our friends. Top hospitality for dining in Hanoi that you can't miss it.

I rate a 4 rather than the 5 star it has received mainly for the food. The tastes are good, but not excellent. If you’re struggling for choice definitely give it a go as it is reliable, good service, location, and variety. But the food itself is above average not excellent.

Noah was extremely helpful. Being a vegetarian person, I ordered a vegetable pho and king oyster sauce mushroom with rice. Both of them were extremely flavourful and tasty. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to try authentic Vietnamese food. The portion sizes are big too.

Don’t trust the reviews on here. Customers are asked to give 5 stars reviews and praise the servers. Our server came prepared with a QR code so it could directly take us to their google page to leave a positive review. The food itself was average, it was okay; however the prices were astronomical. You can definitely eat somewhere nicer for those prices. That place is only filled with tourists. No locals dine in there. I would have given it 4 stars but the whole pressure of leaving a 5 star ruined the experience at the end.

Definitely get the vietnamese pancake, the beef rolls with betel leaves, and fried fish as they are amazing on their own but go great with the vegetables and rice paper. Mango salad was nice and refreshing. Spring Rolls with shrimp had very small shrimp 😔. Morning Glory was not as garlicky and spicy as I would like. Overall, I really enjoyed this dinner experience and the great service from the staff is something to note!

I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious without being pretentious. Our server, Tung, provided spot on recommendations in terms of variety and portion for 9 people, ensuring we were well taken care of. The standout dish for me was the Vietnamese pancake. A delightful culinary adventure overall!

The food is super delicious. Its high quality, looks very clean and safe to eat. Restaurant have many places inside so you don't have to sit in the street. Wifi included :) staff is super friendly and help you with recommending dishes, in our case he also guides us through the first time for us experience of rolling the rice paper dishes. Must eat in Hanoi, you will not be disappointed at all. Plus it's traditional kitchen!

Clearly the best place to eat in Hanoi! Tried Buncha for the first time and totally loved it! Simply also vietnamese pancakes are delicious. Most of our meals here have been great! Special mention to the young serves during the evening hours and Thanh during the noon who made our meal special by extra ordinary hospitality and service

Special shout out to Noah who took time to explain / recommend some of their signature dishes to us and even showed us how to wrap a rice paper roll (the Vietnamese way)! Will definitely recommend this place to whoever that is keen to try some local delicacy 🇨🇳❤️

We found this restaurant near our stay and we tried. I would say the best restaurant in the entire Hanoi 😍 I tried Hanoi traditional fried pork and Nem Ran Hong Hoai. Both were outstanding. A fun part of having Hanoi traditional fried pork was our waiter Noah who taught us how to make a roll with the ingredients. He was amazing with his skill and it was really fun! Also tried Coconut coffee. It was too good! I would recommend going to Hong Hoai's when visiting Hanoi. 😍

Amazing restaurant! We came and did the egg coffee making class! And it was awesome, highly recommend coming here and we also got some free spring rolls too! It was only £10 each or 290,000dong roughly. The staff were really friendly and super informative with making the egg coffee

This unassuming eatery tucked between other shops along the street, was the first meal when i arrived in Hanoi. And this place didnt disappoint! Stir fried pork was fragrant and paired v well with the veges wrapped in rice paper and rice noodles. Hit this place up if u are peckish or want to feast! Its worth it. Also service was great with Finn being v friendly and attentive!

Overall, we had a good experience at Hong Hoai restaurant in Hanoi. We saw the high reviews online and decided to give it a try. The food was delicious. The pork wrapped in betel leaf was very tasty and flavorful. The service was also very friendly and attentive. Our server even showed us how to wrap the food to eat, which was a fun experience. However, there were a few things that could be improved. The carrot juice with ginger was very watery and had little taste. Additionally, we were not impressed with the fact that the restaurant asked us to scan a code and write a review at the end of our meal. It felt like a pushy way to get more reviews, and it took away from our overall dining experience.

Easy 5 stars. Food actually looks like it does on menu. Modestly priced eats. Friendly staff. Good quality food. This visit had the tomato soup and croutons. Lovely tomato flavour. Thick without being lumpy. Warmed up a cold winters day.

Had come here for a cooking class where Katie taught us how to make an egg coffee. She was very kind, patient and an expert teacher. Answered all my questions related to coffee making. Turned out to be one of the best egg coffees in Hanoi! Best part was that we could customise the coffee as per our taste. Surely recommend to take up the cooking classes here.

One of the stuff showed us how to eat it and another one, her name was Hao, recommended us many nice places, food and what we should try in Vietnam. So all in all food is tasty, stuff is nice and atmosphere is also good. You really should visit it

A homely cafe serving authentic Vietnamese food at reasonable prices. Kitty the manager is extremely hospitable and happy to share with us about the different dishes. Two thumbs up for both service and food. You have to try the Vietnamese pancake cha ca (fish) and mango salad. Can give it a miss on the fresh spring roll and pho bo. There are better ones out there.

We were actually recommended this restaurant by some staff at another restaurant and wow, what a recommendation! This is a super restaurant and their cooking class is simply unbeatable. Good market tour, explanations, stories and knowledge all served with an excellent sense of humour. We were there for over 4 hours, ate an enormous amount of delicious food and still had more to take home in a doggy bag - all cooked by us! They have an excellent menu to choose from and their fresh juices and coconut coffee is to die for. Go there!

Reached around 6.15pm on a Friday evening. Ordered the bun cha, cha ca, chicken pancake, pork with betel leaves, and the caramelized pork. The food was pretty good and we were very satisfied. After 3 weeks in Vietnam and also a bit tired of the same seasonings and food I was having lately, Hong Hoai’s was a very good surprise. I ate vegetable spring roll and caramelized belly pork, both very delicious. The server was also super friendly and nice.

Ordered Bun Cha and it's one of the best choices of food I made in Hanoi! I love the unique experience of wrapping my own Bun Cha in the paper rice sheet! Get creative with the way you wrap the lettuce, mint, cilantro and grilled pork meat. Either way, you'll get a yummy bite-size roll filled with flavours!

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Staff Noah helped us to find a seat when we needed a ground floor seat for 4 and it was crowded. Another staff even explained how to eat the dish when we looked a bit confused.

Delicious food. We came here for vegan food and ordered the Veg spring rolls, the tofu vegetable curry and the tofu and Eggplant. The tofu and eggplant tasted quite fishy, which we didn’t love however it was a nice dish. The spring rolls and the vegetable tofu curry were absolutely amazing and delicious! Especially with the tasty sticky rice!

Superb!!! Everything from the freshest delicious ingredients, the flavors and the service were outstanding. It was our favorite meal in 10 days in Vietnam, and it had some stiff competition! Outstanding, and highly recommended.

  • 4/5 Calin A. 5 years ago on Google
A little over rated in terms of food, but the service was on point. The meal was enjoyable but not worth any hype, there are better places to get authentic flavour for sure. They have a really nice seating area and a top floor window overlooking the main street below which is nice. Go for the service, prices are high so order a small amount of food.

Had a banh xeo pancake here. Was crispy and tasty; the lady there showed us the correct way to eat them with rice paper (I've been eating them the wrong way it!). They also do cooking classes here but unfortunately we didn't have time to try them. The venue is clean and the service is friendly, definitely worth a visit.

Met here with a few friends and had a great time. We were served by Noah, who was absolutely fantastic. He had a great sense of humor and made us all feel at home. He demonstrated how to roll our own beef rolls and described all the best items on the menu. We also asked him a few questions about the Vietnamese language and he happily gave us a short lesson on how the Vietnamese alphabet works. He really made this evening great. The food was pretty good too. Pho was acceptable but not the best I've had. The spring rolls were really good.

We came here to do an egg coffee making class, it was definitely a fun morning and would 100% recommend doing it. Thanh was so welcoming and made the experience fun & enjoyable. Our coffee art wasn’t as good as Thanh’s but our own egg coffee was tasty. We also got some vegetarian spring rolls at the end of the class as well.

Hong Hoai is a small, quiet restaurant in the Old Quarter. Although it only has a few tables inside and out, the food is delicious and the staff are incredibly welcoming. My partner has the Vietnamese curry and I tried the Vietnamese pancake which our waiter Noah took the time to show us how to build and eat correctly. He was very attentive and friendly, offering us recommendations of other things to do whilst in Hanoi. I would highly recommend coming here. I will be back again myself!

Thank you, Hong Hoai restaurant!

A delicious, simple and affordable meal. We enjoyed our first meal in Hanoi here and we have to say, this restaurant kicked off our love for traditional vietnamese food here. The beef rolled with wild betel leaf was surprisingly filling as Noah showed us how to make a traditional roll. We also had the beef noodles and grilled pork set and loved the flavours. The coconut coffee is served iced and is a great way to beat the weather here. Of course, dont miss their egg coffee which is indulgent and a great way to end off your meal. Thank you to Noah for being so kind to us and explaining the meals well.
