Located
c
15
miles
from
the
city
centre, Noi Bai Airport
in
Hanoi
is
one
of
the
two
busiest
airports
in
Vietnam.
There
are
two
terminals,
and
the
bus
services
to
the
city
centre
are
available
regularly
from
~6
am
to
~10
pm
which
costs
~VND
40,000.
Taxis
to
the
city
centre
will
cost
~
VND
350,000.
The
airport
has
flights
to
almost
all
the
other
airports
in
the
country,
and
also
to
many
other
international
destinations.
The
airport
area
is
not
very
big.
When
I
landed
(
and
departed
from
)
here,
both
at
midnight,
the
duty-free
shop
and
all
the
restaurants
were
closed.
However,
sim
shops
and
money
exchange
shops
were
open.
Needless
to
say,
at
the
airport
both
of
these
are
going
to
be
more
expensive
than
elsewhere
in
the
city.
At
the
airport,
SIM
plans
start
at
VND
325,000
(
in
the
city
one
could
get
at
half
this
price
),
and
the
exchange
commission
is
~5.5%
(
in
the
city
it's
ideally
3%
).
There
is
a
business
lounge
too.
The
immigration
process
didn't
take
much
time.
Given
that
the
airport
sleeps
for
only
2.5hrs
every
day
(
in
the
sense,
no
take-off
or
landing
in
that
period,
~3am
to
~5:30am)
(
this
context
may
be
applicable
to
only
Terminal
2
which
I
have
experienced
),
meaning
that
it's
operational
for
a
large
part
of
the
day
(
and
night
),
consideration
must
be
given
to
keeping
at
least
some
restaurants/other
shops
operational
in
the
premises
in
the
midnight
since
there
is
a
customer
footfall.
Similarly,
given
the
above,
bus
timings
(
connectivity
to
the
city-centre)
should
be
extended.
