This area once again is super lit at night. The amount of energy this place during night is quite high. What I love about this place is that everyone is enjoying here & living in the moment. This place has not ♿️ accessible parking but entrance is ♿️ accessible.

Great place to come for a walk in the morning 🌅 or the evening 🌆! Locals come and do Dance Groups, take photos with traditional clothing and flowers. Truly feels like a community park.

I have very fond memories of this lake. Whether it is early in the morning or late in the afternoon or any time in between this is just a beautiful place to walk around. It is located in the heart of Hanoi, surrounded by lush greenery and is home to the famous red bridge, Huc Bridge, which leads to the Ngoc Son Temple situated on a small island in the lake. I can understand why it is incredibly popular.

Seriously you must visit Hoan Kiem Lake in the late fall season and the beginning of winter!!! 🍂❄️ I have just been there for 6 days in a row and the landscape was absolutely insane!!! Located in the center of Vietnam’s Capital, there is a lot of activies around the lake such as walking, music concert, cafes, offices... and I love enjoying the magical, harmonious and peaceful, poetic scenery of the lake! And the people of Hanoi too! They are so lovely and enthusiasm whenever I asked them for pictures and some helps for directions! 🌟 Wow!!! How can you find such a beautiful lake and humans right inside the city?! 😍 Everytimes I was walking on the lake’s park, I just felt the autumn vibes of it, the weather, the people, the trees, flowers, walking paths,... such an amazing experience only when you are in Hanoi. Must visit it again!!! Yuppp my promise ❤️

A must visit place in Hanoi especially during autumn where you can feel cool breeze when you walk along the lake. The view is simply amazing where you can see all walks of life having a relaxing time walking, chatting and exploring. I love the night view where the colorful lights lit the buildings and bridge and create a beautiful reflection on the lake. On the other side of the lake, you can find local sellers selling many exotic items for you to explore. I definitely enjoyed my walk around the lake.

Nice lake with ruins of temple pagoda in the centre. There were plenty of people visiting here with food stalls and fresh juice vendors lining the sides. Ample seating to relax and people watch while here.

Really lovely way to spend an hour in Hanoi, walking around the lake and then visiting the temple. Lots of great photo opportunities, as well as being a nice restful place to sit. Looks beautiful at night.

Simply a stunning lake, that encompasses all the parts of hanoi, the old and the french quarter are very popular with tourists, recommend walking the circumference of the lake at least twice, in the the day and at night, both complexly different experience's, all a good way to get away from the general chaos.

It’s a pretty lake whether you want to take a stroll or photo op. You’ll see lots of ladies wearing áo dài to take pictures so don’t be surprised. You could also rent one and have a photo shoot too! It comes to life at night with more food vendors/stalls.

Day time and night time is very different so you can come around sunset to see the two sides of its beauty. It’s good for after meal walking as there are plenty of space for walking and seats for resting.

If you want to be in the midst of many things happening in one place, this is a good place to come down to and check out. This place has a frenetic and bustling vibe, especially at night. There are so many activities along and around the lake. You can walk around it within 25-30 mins. You’ll see women’s groups dancing early in the morning and throughout the day; couples dancing, and all to latin music. I joined in on a couple of occasions. There’s food stalls, cotton candy, flowers, balloons, people sitting on benches watching the world go by, so many people walking around taking photos galore, you can visit the Ngoc Son Temple over the red bridge and gaze at the monument on the island in the middle of the lake.

A great historical and spritual place to visit in Hanoi. Having a pagoda and a royal museum inside, this place is a must visit in Hanoi Old Quarter. The lake is big and the water is green 😁 which is so lovely to see. You'll fall in love ❤️🇻🇳

Loeb hanging out at this lake … has such a beautiful vibe .. full of hustle and bustle of the foreigners and locals!! Lots of fruit vendors, ice cream shops open late, local teens handing out casually on a daily basis the daily businesses all rely on the walk traffic!! On the weekend the entire road around this lake is closed and only foot traffic where is gets even busier!! Love ❤️ Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Check my bought follow Fauzia com

There are many things to see and do in the area. I suggest taking a stroll around the lake and enjoying the attractions of the traditional side of Vietnam. If you have the opportunity, I also recommend visiting the temple across the bridge, as it is affordable and provides a wealth of information.

A beautiful and serene lake in the heart of a bustling city, a complete juxtaposition to the liveliness at all times of day. Street vendors selling all sorts of fruits and snacks alongside the lake, coffee shops line the streets, and tourists and locals alike ambling along for a stroll.

Hoàn Kiếm Lake (meaning "Lake of the Returned Sword" or "Lake of the Restored Sword"), also known as Sword Lake or Tả Vọng Lake, is a fresh water lake, measuring some 12 ha in the historical center of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. According to the legend, after defeating the Ming China, Emperor Lê Lợi was boating on the lake when a Golden Turtle God (Kim Qui) surfaced and asked for his magic sword, Heaven's Will. Lợi concluded that Kim Qui had come to reclaim the sword that its master, a local God, the Dragon King (Long Vương) had given Lợi sometime earlier to defeat Ming China. Later, the Emperor gave the sword back to the turtle after he finished fighting off the Chinese.

Hoan Kiem Lake is the famous tourist attraction. The aesthetic thing I noticed that, in weekends, these area will be restricted for vehicles and all peoples including tourists can walk freely through this roads. The roads are filled with lots of food counters, shopping kiosks and entertainment. The native peoples of Hanoi conducted an event like a festival in weekends, lots of dances and songs. A true paradise!! For me, Its a must visit place!

An absolute beauty during the evening sunsets. Very picturesque, with a red bridge lighted up and the reflection dancing in the lake waters. Come with your loved one, and write poems or just a love letter.

Beautiful spot for a walk early in the morning or in the evenings - particularly on the weekend when the surrounding streets close to traffic. The surrounding gardens are immaculate and it's a really lovely place for a bit of peace.

Fake tourist site. You can go there, take a walk and seat beside lake. But no activity as such. Many better options available in Vietnam. Instead go shopping in markets.

Go after dark. The bridge is lit up nicely tho there was a segment of lights out when we were there. Pay the admission proce a d walk over the bridge to the little island. Fun quick activity. At night the arr surrounding it closes for a night market.

Hoan Kiem Lake is the freshwater lake with around 12 hectares size. This lake is one of the landmark in Hanoi and a must visit place in Hanoi. Actually, nothing is too special about the lake. Just a Chinese temple in the middle of the lake. But, around the lake, there are numerous attractions from historical sites to hotels, food and beverages as well as shopping. As it is an iconic lake of Hanoi, tourists must visit here as the sign that you have been to Hanoi. At the lake side, you can sit and rest. Locals also organize gathering, picnic, event, etc. As it is within walking distance from Old Quarter, you may walk from your hotel at Old Quarter to this lake.

Located right in the center of Hanoi, it is truly a gem. Should come in weekdays instead of at the weekend to enjoy its tranquility and unique beauty. Particularly, it is the most beautifully attractive in autumn.

Hoàn Kiếm Lake. This is a popular lake inside the Old Quarter of Hanoi City. Basically, this lake is a part of the drainage system in Hanoi City as its main function. Located in the city center near a shopping center, restaurant, bars, offices, and another business center, make this lake is becoming one of the tourist areas. For local people, they build a temple on the small island in the lake with a wooden bridge to go there. So they come to this place to give respect to God. For your note, there would be a crowd along with the festival or a ritual of the religion. At night tourists and local people take a walk surrounding this lake to see the beauty of the lake by the reflection of the light on the surface of the water.

Love this lake, very peaceful, this is my first stop to sit and find the address I need. Next to crowded Old Quarter but it is great spot. I walk every morning for exercise and sometime at night for relaxing. It has the magic!

Liked being here.....It gives you good views during sun rise and sun set.... Located in the centre of the city you'll find lot of street vendors and cafes around this place. You'll find people sitting here till late. Some people come here to fishing some for their work outs. I think it's a good place to spend your time here.

This lake is an amazing place to check out on the weekend. They close off the roads and people are out and about enjoying music, food and scenery. Sit and have a coffee during the day and eat, drink through the night. There are often performances and various music going on.

It's a nice place to stroll by in the evenings. Expect a lot of tourists, local crowd and vendors.. If you're lucky, you'll find a seat. If you truly want to view it in its glory, visit by night to experience the beauty of the lake when the red bridge is lit up

It’s very beautiful but very busy at all times. People exercise here and chill and go visit the monument on the water as well. There’s lots of coffee shops and restaurants surrounding the area too

Nice place to have a walk in the morning or evening. It’s a tourist spot so many people but I love the vibe. It is chill and there are cheap food stalls and some shows like water dance, lights shows, and local musicians. It can be very crowded and noisy but still a must visit if you are staying nearby. It is very safe too.

Beneath the full moon's radiant gleam, Around Hoàn Kiếm Lake, a wondrous sight, I wander amidst the city's vibrant dream, A tapestry of moments, pure delight. People strolling, hand in hand, In the city's heartbeat, they find their pace, Kids' laughter echoing, a joyous band, Their innocence, a precious embrace. Aerobic dance, a graceful sway, Beneath the moon, they move in grace, Beside the lake, where dreamers lay, The city night, a magical embrace. As moonbeams dance on waves so bright, In this urban symphony, hearts ignite, Hoàn Kiếm Lake's allure, a beacon of light, A timeless memory, ever so right.

The place is pretty close to where I stayed. Clean and well maintained, with benches that you can seat on to get relaxed as you view the serene Hoan Kiem lake with that iconic red bridge - stunning :)

Beautiful place, really busy. Did not go to the museum due to the lines. Water is gross, but it's a nice place. I suggest you come early or later if you want to go over the bridge. Lots of people around. Lively gardens and starues and monuments and close to lots of shops to be able to go shopping. Saw a turtle 🐢 I'm not sure if it was alive or dead, though. Due to state of the water in the lake.

Nice lake adjacent to Old Quarter, perfect for a stroll along the shores. Not too large so can easily walk around it in ~30 minutes, and nice to view from nearby coffee houses and restaurants. While there visit the temple in the lake, vey nice. They close the street around the lake in summer on weekends and people come out for fun.

It's a good place to walk, chill and know a little more about the history of Hanoi. I grew up there in a small shop nearby and I always like the lake area. At weekend, the streets around will turn into walking street and there will be mostly no vehicle enter. There are many activities. People exercise, walk, talk, dance and take nice pictures there.

I loved this place although it is very busy over the weekend. It’s a good place to chill and relax but too crowded sometimes. This is a great area to visit early in the morning or evening as sitting by the lake side. It’s a quite nice to having a coffee at a nearby café.

It's remarkable how vibrant the esplanade is round Hoàn Kiếm Lake in the center of Hanoi. No matter what the hour you'll see people strolling, talking with friends, or spending time with family. It doesn't take much time to walk around the lake so treat yourself to a walk there at least once a day if you're staying nearby, or at make at least one visit if you're only visiting for the day.

  • 5/5 Terry S. 1 year ago on Google
Someone taught me how to take photos at this place. Having a coffee at the nearby cafe on a Saturday morning is a nice experience, enjoying the drink and scenery.

  • 4/5 Rommel Naoe M. 1 year ago on Google
Since our hotel is only a few minutes away from the lake, we always walk here when we explore the whole old town of Hanoi. From Friday night til Sunday night, the streets are closed for motorists which makes it easier and fun to walk around the lake. A lot of stores, restaurants can be send around the lake. You would also see a red bridge and pagoda in the lake which is lit up at night. Amazing to see. Also you could hear music and aunties dancing and exercising in the late afternoon 🤭 Could have been awesome if we were able to walk in the afternoon if it wasn’t humid 🙈 This place is a must see when you are in Hanoi!
