    I am very frustrated and feel totally and fraudulently ripped off by Avis budget Munich airport. Avoid this company at all costs. I collected our pre booked car and was given a Citroen c3 firstly I told the girl this was not the equivalent size to what I had booked and she told me it was. I had a family of five and luggage and after having another conversation with her I accepted I may be wrong...... I wasn’t it was smaller than the “equivalent” model I had booked and we had to cram into it. Secondly and now the fraud bit, there was a charge of euro 70 on my contract and she told me that this was Incase I returned the car empty I told her I wanted to return full and she said then I wouldn’t be charged the euro 70. Guess what I was charged it against my card and the car was full when I returned it. Here I have a contract now with the charge for fuel on it and feel she lied to me..... twice. I will never use this company again and would suggest you don’t either. I am also a FF with Avis and can’t get anywhere with the complaint..

    It's 2017 others have full automatic car sharing and rental, but Budget has this and 2 counter open during peak holiday season. First time and never again. Congratulations to the management. That's Customer relation how it should be. Not even prepared for waiting areas. Total Loser. It's true.

    Be warned! Very clean car, but from startup it had no washer fluid in and no Adblue fluid, so warning lights came on straight away. Also, we have been charged an extra €1000 for “damages” after returning the car. This is totally unjust and I believe completely fraudulent. The car was in our possession the whole time and no extra damage was incurred whilst with us. The pictures provided of the damage were dark and showed a dirty smudge of motorway grime and an almost imperceptible compression to a panel that we had not spotted when we picked up (due to being in a poorly lit garage). The arbitrary quote for €1000 is totally unjustified. Various emails of complaint have been sent but I have had no reply. I will encourage all my business colleagues not to use Budget in future.

    The very pleasant lady in the front desk tried to up-sale us about every little thing that is car related. Eventually we end up with a very high price, much higher then we booked online. We cancelled the rservation that secound and rented a car from another place.

    This is a scam company. Avoid at all costs. They try to put all kinds of previous damage to the car to be paid by you, even if you didn’t damage the car. Like a third world unlicensed renter. These scams are their main source of revenue. Stay away. Customer service is no use.

    Made a rental via Expedia. At the desk, they pressured me to take an insurance while i did have on. At the end, she dropped adn tried to sell me others options. After the return, i found that they charges me 46 $ more with out any notice even any reasons !!! the car was full.. no scratch nothing to charge me up !!!!!!! Last experience with BUDGET !!!

    Scam company - after completion of rental, they charged 1000 EUR for tiny scratches that were already there when we picked up the car, exactly what happened with Neal below. No response after emailing to clear up mess. I am disputing charge on credit card and contacting Budget USA HQ to warn them about what this branch is doing in their name.

    Beware! The wait is rather long. I had a bad experience there that I had not expected from a major rental company (usually, only sleazy backyard rental companies do this): They sprung a totally useless "premium roadside assistance" service on me for a 56€ charge. The service was never explained and added even though I had explicitly stated that I wanted only the pre-booked and prepaid services. My fault for not triple checking after a 12 hour flight, but still annoying. I can rule out a language issue as I speak German natively. Lately I found that Budget employees seem to be under significant pressure to upsell (they tried the same in Long Beach with scare tactics), so I will stay away from Budget. Never had the same experience with Thrifty or Payless - I have had over 10 car rentals this year.

    I have been trying to call to the given numbers for 2 days, but only automatic messages asking to call during the office hours. Well, if they give the opening hours on their sites, I guess that is what they should be then. No matter what time You call , nobody answers.

    Took over 30 mins in queue to be seen and this wasn’t really a peak time on Wednesday morning. Then another 10 min queue at the car park area to get my child seat. Then found the car hadn’t been fully fuelled as it was meant to be so had to go again to see them. Then at the end got billed for a full tank of fuel after I had explicitly shown the guy who checked the car that I had documentation showing the tank wasn’t full at the start, and that I had fuelled it to the same amount I started with, which what I was originally advised to do. The guy was rude and dismissive at the end when I asked him whether there were any additional charges or damages recorded - “what do you think I do here?”. He told me there weren’t. I couldn’t understand the receipt he gave me in German but later realised they did charge for a full tank of fuel. Worst car rental I’ve ever done, in supposedly “efficient” Germany. Have had much better experiences in France, Spain and Italy. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

    The vehicle I received had existing damage on one side of the front bumper but the agent recorded it on the wrong side on the rental agreement. I discovered this later after returning the vehicle and receiving notification that Budget intended to charge me ~500 euros for the damage. I can't say whether this was intentional or accidental but given the common themes in the other reviews for this location, it's suspicious. Attempts to get this resolved were met with the below boilerplate and subsequently ignored. 500 euros is not an "inconvenience" and "unsatisfactory" is an understatement to say the least. My recommendation is to avoid this location and Budget/Avis in general. "You indicated in your response the incorrect damage assessment was unsatisfactory. Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience you have experienced. Sincerely, Franziska Mihajlovic"

    Waited about 2 hrs in the queue for our car which was longer than the flight actually was from the UK and also longer that the car journey afterwards to Garmish .!! Be prepared for this... Take a copy of War and Peace to read. The lady at the desk was very pleasant however, but they needed at least double the staff to cope efficiently with the people in line. There were 4 desks open out of a possible 8. The car is great though ...We plan to drop it off at Frankfurt.... let's see if they are any better there.. Update... dropped the car off and all was easy.. good and quick system.. we handed it back in pristine condition and full tank of diesel... back in the UK now and have received the invoice for the car and it is 34€ more than the original paperwork said. We don't know why. Contacted budget via email as couldn't get to talk to anybody on the phone... we are still waiting for a reply and it's been 3 weeks now.... Latest update.... eventually gave up waiting for Budget customer services to get back to us via email, did manage to speak to someone via phone today. She was very helpful to be fair. She told us that we had been charged around56€ for filling the car up with fuel after we dropped it off even though she could see on the system that we had given the car back with a full tank ! She says that we should get a full refund of that money which was charged incorrectly. I can't help but think that unless we had bothered to chase this up we would not be getting anything back. It smacks of a scam against those who may not check the bills carefully or be bothered to try and find out why they have been overcharged. Good Luck.

    Reserved a Mercedes C class or equivalent car. I was told they had no stock in that class so could upgrade to 9 seater or Skoda estate for free. Yes these cars may have been in a higher class due to their size, but were not what I wanted. Very disappointed from what I expected to be a reputable company.

    Omg, It took one and half hours to get the car which was not what we paid for: much smaller inside and way much smaller, less space for bags, than ordered. Have hired auto all over the world and have to say this was the worst experience ever. Sorry, but we'll not hire from Budget ever again and will suggest everyone else to avoid it too!!

    The rented car's tires were in such bad shape that it was a risk to your family or your trip. The tires were already at the end of their useful life and shook as soon as you reached 100 km/h. We picked up the car on Friday after 18:00 and as soon as we noticed the problems we tried to call the Budget customer service number (of course it closed at 18:00 and opens on Monday). I called the emergency number that I can find in the contract, but the same applies, closed until Monday. We arrived at the hotel and I asked the front desk if he could help, and he called all the numbers he could find but there was no answer. He also stated that things cannot be like this.

    6/1/2023 Friendly counter agent. Quick Budget rental process at the Munich Airport. BEWARE!!! NO HELP & NO REPLACEMENT CAR IF YOU BREAK DOWN. YOU WILL GET STRANDED!!! WE WERE CHARGED $598.07 FOR ONLY 2 RENTAL DAYS!!! WE NEEDED THE CAR FOR 12 DAYS. THE TOTAL COST WAS SUPPOSED TO BE 834.69€. THERE WAS ZERO DAMAGE TO THEIR CAR, ONLY 2 TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. EXPECT HOURS ON THE PHONE, LONG DISTANCE CHARGES, HEADACHES, DELAYS, & NO RESPONSE TO EMAILS. YOU'LL GET HUNG UP ON, DISCONNECTED IF YOU DON'T SPEAK GERMAN, & WISH YOU HAD RENTED FROM SOMEONE ELSE! Some help was in English. 6/2 the front tire exploded & the rear tire was damaged due to road construction debris on the Autobahn. The tire store couldn't get new tires for 5 days. We couldn't wait that long for the car to be fixed. Breakdown Helpline was UNABLE TO REPLACE THE CAR AFTER 2 DAYS. THEY STILL SAID, "We are working on it. We will get back to you." They didn't get back to us, even after we said we MUST have a new car by 6/4. 6/4 we were desperate for a new car. If Budget could replace the car, we would travel 2 hours to the Frankfurt Airport. There were no local rental cars for us. Their Helpline said they would contact the Frankfurt Airport Budget (not sure how hard they tried to email & call them), but they couldn't reach them. They said they'd keep trying, but had no idea if FRA would have a car for us. We were desperate to get to our next hotel. WE HAD TO HAVE A RENTAL CAR BY 3pm on 6/4. We needed to drive 6 hours south! My brother drove us 2 hours to the Frankfurt Airport to get a new car. The FRA Budget counter was NOT helpful. The agent knew nothing about us needing a new car. She said she could NOT replace the car. She wanted us to take all our luggage & ride a tram/shuttle to ANOTHER AIRPORT TERMINAL TO ASK THE OTHER BUDGET COUNTER FOR A NEW CAR. No one at the helpline said there were 2 different Budget counters! She had cars, but she had no paperwork or info on us to prove we needed a new car. WE WERE SO SO SO DONE DEALING WITH BUDGET! WE WERE RUNNING LATE LEAVING FOR GARMISCH. WE NEEDED TO DRIVE 6 HOURS SOUTH TO OUR NEXT DESTINATION AND COULDN'T WAIT ANY LONGER FOR ANOTHER CAR! We called the Breakdown Hotline & told them to cancel the Budget rental. The Budget counter agent couldn't even cancel the reservation for us! SO MANY MANY HOURS OF OUR VACATION WASTED ON THE PHONE WITH BUDGET! SO MANY HOURS AFTER OUR VACATION WASTED ON THE PHONE AND EMAILS WITH BUDGET! We went to Enterprise Car Rental next door and used their WONDERFUL HELPFUL AGENTS to finish our 12 day vacation. They saved our Germany vacation from being ruined. We paid for towing ourselves. The Breakdown Helpline said we would be reimbursed. We have NOT been reimbursed. "Send your receipts to this email address..." 18 days later still no reply to my emails with towing receipts. I have sent multiple emails to the EVERY different email address the Breakdown Helpline and Budget Customer said to send it to. I've spent hours on the phone on multiple long distance calls. 6/20 I'm STILL trying to resolve the issue. I need to get refunded for towing. I should only be charged for 2 rental days. I was supposed to have the car for 12 days and be charged 834.69€. We only drove the car 2 days. My credit card was charged $598.07 on 6/4. No invoice was sent to explain the bill. Why did 2 days cost so much? Was I billed for the tires? If so, I need the invoice to file the claim through the damage insurance I purchased. Budget Customer Service today says we should get refunded. The German agent was helpful. Several budget agents have been very helpful, but this is taking forever! He said he will correct the send anew invoice, and I will be refunded in 36 hours. DON'T RENT FROM BUDGET IF YOU DON'T WANT A HUGE HEADACHE AND A DIFFICULT VACATION! THE WORST PART WAS NOT HAVING A REPLACEMENT CAR WHEN WE NEEDED IT. I DON'T KNOW HOW WE WOULD'VE GOTTEN A NEW CAR IF WE WEREN'T STAYING WITH FAMILY! WE WOULD'VE BEEN STRANDED!!!

    Thank you Mrs. Eszter, in fact she is the best person I met during my visit to Amsterdam, Paris and Munich, she is supposed to be honored with the best customer service employee … she helped us a lot and provided me with the best solutions to my problem, she provided me and my wife with water and a chair and bid us farewell with chocolate … Budget and Avis are lucky to have an employee like her

    The car type we booked wasn't aviable, and we had no choice but to upgrade with an additional fee. Adding to that, there was an airport fee we wasn't aware of.
