very nice steaks and wine. Nice ambience. Great service.

A friend of mine recommended going to Franz - Der Wirt while our stay at the Genusshotel Gmachl next door. It was worth going. The quality and service was outstanding. The price is surprisinly cheap for what you get. Mouthwatering steaks, traditonal austrian cuisine and burgers....so there is something for every taste. You can even get beer which is brewed next door, just a few steps away from the restaurant. We will be back for sure!

The best - we had 1 entree, 3 main dishes, 1 dessert and 4 drinks and paid 72 euros. I found it good value for money - the place is nice, lively and social. If you are going in a group or to have quick easy chats, its ideal To improve - the place is very loud, social, but loud. So if you are expecting for a quiet night or have conversations, maybe not the best place - i ordered a wiener schwein schnitzel and the portion was quite small. The schnitzel was laid on top of all the chips, felt like it was done with zero love/professionalism - it was a bit packed when we went there, so our waiter took his time to take our order. Be prepared to be patient.

The food is made with cheap wholesale ingredients, the taste is inferior - total waste of money! Caution, one of many cases where the owner wants to get as much profit out of the restaurant as possible. I cannot recommend the food at all.

The beef was a little dry, but the dish overall was very flavorful. Staff was quick and friendly. An overall very good, and pleasant place for lunch.

Creative menu, modern design and a lively setting make Franz - der Wirt a pleasant change from the typical Wirthaus. Food and service was top, desserts were only mediocre but didn't detract from the overall experience. We'll be back.

Authentic old-style furniture, excellent beer selection and a few cocktails as well. Burgers are one of the best I have had in Salzburg so far. Menu is fairly expensive, but the food is very good.
