The Sacred Heart Cathedral, properly the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and also known as the Stone House by locals, is a Gothic Revival Roman Catholic cathedral in Guangzhou, China. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Guangzhou. The cathedral is located at 56 Yide Road (in Chinese: 一德路56号), on the north bank of the Pearl River at the heart of the old town. It is one of the few cathedrals in the world to be entirely built of granite, including all the walls, pillars, and the twin towers.

A Unique, Serine, 130 year old Catholic Church. This Church is an unexpected, but very welcoming place to visit. After 25 years, it was finally completed in 1888 [the last three digits are very important to many Chinese (in China and abroad)]. The twin spires of the building is very unusual in Guangzhou... and is made entirely of granite. It is located in the heart of the old city and near the river. Perhaps most interesting of all is the "refreshing, calm, ambience", the mass is in English. It can be readily accessed by the subway. It is also very highly rated (by travellers). I hope that this Review has been helpful.

It was a pity that I was here on Monday. The church was closed. So you should be pay attention to its opening schedule when you want to get inside and visit the amazing church. It is still served to people nowadays. It is all right and I will be back next time.

Located almost in the middle of many wholesale centers - toys, dried food, stationery, paper products etc.. Stand a magnificent and grand cathedral with many local shops near by. I brought my family and many friends there before and they love it. Highly recommended for first timer in Guangzhou.

One of the largest cathedrals I have seen in China. It is a magnificent piece of architecture, but is nothing compared to cathedrals in Europe.

Very well maintained church with long history. This kind of church is rare in Guangzhou. Nice stone built church. It is free and open to public. It is worth a visit with easy access to the metro line. There were lots of visitors when we were there Just before Christmas.

One of the few Chatolic cathedral in Guangzhou. For my European eyes it is not special, but if we count that it is located there... By the way it is the biggest gothic cathedral in South-East Asia!

Grand, beautiful, and it welcomes everybody in. The Guangzhou Sacred Heart Cathedral is a wonderful rest stop after a whole lot of touring in the city.

A huge cathedral, probably the biggest in Guangzhou. It is located in between small alleyways that sell very cheap local snacks and fruits. Do take note that like many tourist sites, this cathedral is closed on Monday.

visited the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Guangzhou recently and was really impressed by its beauty and grandeur. The cathedral is made entirely of granite, which gives it a unique and striking appearance. The interior is just as impressive, with a soaring nave and beautiful stained glass windows. The cathedral is a popular tourist destination, and it can get crowded during peak hours. However, it's still worth a visit, even if you're just taking a quick look from the outside. The cathedral is a reminder of the rich history and culture of Guangzhou, and it's a truly special place to experience.

Located at Yide Road near the Haizhu Square in the city center, this beautiful over 130-year-old Roman Catholic cathedral is a holy and peaceful site in the bustling and busy urban area. From our hotel at Qiaoguang road, we walked here within 15mins of leisurely paced walk. The cathedral was nice, aka the Notre Dame of Guangzhou (similarly to that in Ho Chi Minh City) with the same architectural style. Unfortunately, on the day of our visit, the Cathedral was closed to the public for some private events and so we could not stand outside to take photos and read the intro from the information plagues. And along the section of the cathedral was small square with 2 rows of shophouses and cafes and right next was a long stretch of shophouses selling dried foods, toys and stationery which was very crowded, noisy and full of vibes but within the cathedral area, it was quiet and peaceful, what a contrast, all within 100-120m of distance!
