I
grind
my
own
beans
daily
for
manual
espresso.
I
was
looking
for
freshly
roasted
beans
for
optimum
results.
The
roaster
(employee)
was
unable
to
tell
me
when
the
beans
had
been
roasted.
There's
no
'roast
date'
on
the
bags!
Generally,
this
is
the
advantage
of
local
roasters
over
other
brands.
Tell
me
the
date,
allow
me
to
let
it
off-gas
the
appropriate
number
of
days,
package
it
in
a
C02
releasing
bag,
and
give
me
consistency.
I
didn't
get
any
of
these
choices.
I
tried
three
varieties,
and
each
resulted
in
a
poor
end-product
I
would
normally
attribute
to
older,
stale
roasted
beans.
At
$17-$19/pound
and
with
these
results,
I
cannot
justify
the
drive
and
the
cost
for
negligible
results.
Two
stars,
instead
of
one,
due
to
their
decaf
bean
having
a
relatively
good
taste
profile,
despite
the
above.
UPDATE:
Despite
above,
I've
visited
again
and
clearly
asked
for
freshly
roasted
beans.
I
received
a
bag
that
was
still
warm!
I
waited
4-5
days
before
using,
and
they
were
much
better
than
prior
roasts.
I
really
wish
they
stamped
roasted
date
(OR
expiry
date
1
year
after
roasting)
and
let
the
customer
decide.
