I am sad to say that this place has gone downhill. The last time we went, the new owner and her husband were the only staff in the entire place. The owner is very friendly and took our order, then went to kitchen to cook our food while her husband shuffled around trying to clean so we never saw her again until I had to ask for the check. The food was definitely not what it used to be. Smaller portions and some items were burnt while others were under cooked. They removed some of the cool nostalgic decor and repainted to a dull grey. When I finally was able to get the husband’s attention to ask for the check, he had to go to the kitchen and have her come out to get it. Instead of bringing it, she let us know she needed to cook the food for the other tables first and then would give us the check. 20 minutes later, she came to sit down at our table to start writing up the bill. She had to get up and look at the menu a couple times to look at the prices while she hand wrote the bill and then added it all up. Unfortunately I had to help her figure out how to calculate the tax. The whole experience was such a let down. I have been coming here since I was a little kid and I’m not sure if I’ll ever come back. I truly hope they get some help and turn it around.

I don't stop by here often even though I travel around the Haltom City area several times. But i when I do, I'm well attended. I had a very hearty meal and the waitress was very sweet and kind. 😁 Can't wait for next time😁

Awesome cafe on Denton hwy. Come in and feel like going back in time. The set ups are back in time. Feel even more comfortable with the music bringing you back to memory lane. The menu itself has a variety of choices from eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, and yummy fluffy pancakes 🥞 I did not review the lunch/dinner options this time around. But since, the break was to dine in for delicious breakfast 😋 I'll be coming back to try later. Everything in this visit was splendid. The Cafe is the place to come while in Haltom City Texas 🤠 for breakfast and little put back in time.

If you are looking for a place where you can eat good home cooking, made fresh from scratch, just the way you like it, with people that care about you as a person, that will pray a blessing over the meal, that will make sure you get everything you want and nothing less, then you have two choices. You can either go to a) your grandmother's house, but then you probably will have to help with the dishes, or b) go to The Café and let Jay cook you up a meal that will be so good that you can taste the love she put into cooking for you. No joke, the fried okra is better than I've ever tasted anywhere else, and that does include my grandmother (bless her soul). Jay is an excellent cook, but more than that, she has a big heart and you can tell she loves the people she's cooking for. If you're in a hurry, maybe wait until you have time to really enjoy the meal. But if you're ready to relax and taste some collard greens with ham hocks in it, green beans with real bacon, okra that has never been frozen, and enjoy some fellowship, then get yourself out to The Café in Haltom City, Texas.

Nostalgia. Great breakfast. My goodness the biscuits are insanely delicious, perfectly fluffy, fresh, warm. The cheese omelette was perfect. Everything was so hot, fresh. Like grandma's house. Love the diner setting. Easy location too. I definitely will return. This place is a hidden gem! It's small, but the perfect food when you're simply just hungry and want the diner kitsch. Worth the visit. Fantastic food at very good price. Awesome!

Fast friendly service. Non-smoking. My family has been coming here for 25+ years. It definitely is a nostalgic place to dine. It gives you that old time diner experience. Prices are extremely inexpensive. This is a great place for the whole family.

Our first time visit this restaurant was bad. I don't understand all 5* reviews here. I left 2* because of the 1960s vibe. We impressed with the retro design of the restaurant but disappointed in the foods. Everything we ordered from pancake, waffle to bacon were overcooked with the burnt flavor. I had to literally pick the burnt parts out of the waffle and pancake. On top of that, pancake is so bland. The waitress was attentive but due to short staff or something that we had to waited more than 30 minutes for our foods, and we didn't get the correct order. We didn't bring this issue to their attention because they were busy already. There were several guests left after waiting for half an hour like us. Got charged almost $40 for 2 breakfast order. I didn't even bother to check if we got charged correctly or not. Just left the tips and reminded ourselves this is the last time we visited this place.

Under new management but definitely not better. By far the worse experience I had at this restaurant. Portions were small for the price and quality is as low as it gets. The staff was friendly and the owner seemed nice but unless the food and service gets a big upgrade I won't be coming back.

This was a great experience! The new owners (J and Reggie) are absolutely fabulous! Their customer service and care is second to none. The food came out hot and delicious! Savannah my server was great! Prices are amazing, and this Marine was fed well and very well taken care of. They are very veteran friendly so if any of you warriors want a great meal at a very reasonable price, come by and enjoy the atmosphere, food, and good people!

My waitress Haley was the best. I broke the sugar shaker and she was very apologetic and understanding. I come over and eat and hang out for a couple of hours while my motorbike is across the road being serviced. I get the Early Bird Special, which is 6 50, including coffee. With rising prices, that is an incredible price. May the Lord richly bless their efforts. Tory.

Talked with the owner who was very sweet and informative onwhat was coming. Breakfast was great and well cooked. She had us try her banana pudding and sweet potato pie, both of which were out of this world. We will be going back soon. Athena

Had quit going to this restaurant cause the food was going down hill. Went back today and am so glad it has a owner who cares about her customers and wants to serve great food. We also sampled the banana pudding and candied yams they were outstanding. Can't wait to go back and try the dinner menus. Thank you for bringing real food back to Haltom city.

Was greeted and seated in less than a minute. Service was outstanding our hostess was Briana. It was the best service i have had in years. Food was reminiscent of good old comfort food tasty, quick and hot. Hope the Cafe appreciats the fantastic waitress they have in Briana, great waitress like her are rare in todays times.

Absolutely love the atmosphere, it's like stepping in to the fifties! Pancakes were great and as big as the plate, went for breakfast after we voted. Waitress and cook were FANTASTIC. I'd invite everyone to visit so we can keep this business going. Would be a shame to lose it after all these years. Many local businesses need our business to survive. I'll be going back more often. Sorry, I forgot to take pics. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Had a strong craving for some biscuits and gravy so I dashed into The Cafe. Was afraid it was going to be busy based on the cars in the parking lot but I think they were all at the thrift store sale. I sat myself in a comfy booth. Ordered coffee, water, biscuits and gravy, side of crunchy bacon and hashbrowns. The GOOD: - Biscuits were beyond amazing! Fluffy and not a dry or hard spot on them. 🤤 - Coffee was great! Perfectly brewed and not so hot that you can't enjoy it right away. The BAD: - Only two people working. One working the floor and the other one cooking the food and washing the dishes. The young man working the floor was definitely trying! However, it was impossible for him to cover everything. A gentleman next to me ordered some more coffee which he never received. Two UPS workers came in, looked irritated and ended up leaving. My food was delivered and I had to wait for him to finish helping everyone else and ask him for utensils to eat with. - The hash browns were HARD. Not just a little crunchy, they were hard! - The bacon is paper thin. They tried to get it crunchy, which I appreciate, but it was kind of a weird experience with it being so thin. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience. I'm glad it wasn't busier than it was as it could have turned bad very quickly! Total was $14.36 plus tip.

First time trying this place and the last time! Food was over cooked and the waiter gave me a good salad and got mad because I wanted another side. She was the worst waiter ever very very rude.

This is a small town Cafe with retro decor 1960's. The establishment appeared clean. There was only 1 server but it was about 8am on a Wednesday. The server seemed familiar with some of the customers like they come in on a regular basis. There is a basic breakfast available for $6.99. I spoke with the cook who stepped out for a moment. He stated he fixes a lot of omlets & recommended the texmex omlet. Ordered 2 eggs scrambled, bacon, hash browns, biscuits & gravy. It wasn't exceptional but was good. Bacon done but not crunchy, hash browns crunchy around edge & soft in middle, biscuits soft. Good, filling breakfast. Would recommend.

Not even greeted another table came in they where greeted and served coffee right away, server stood and talked with them for a while. We walked out and she didn't even notice walked right in front of her. If this is the kind of service you will get from here I will never return.
