Despite of its age, the castle is very well preserved and is one of the most impressive fortresses that are still standing in Finland. Nowadays, the buffed and military-ish appearance of the castle is softened and embraced by the beautiful nature surrounding it. Entrance ticket is quite expensive: 10 euro per adult. The inside feels a bit empty with nothing much going on. The signs are very confusing: some signs are only Finnish and Swedish, and some are only in English? There is one temporary exhibition on the second floor and a permanent exhibition scattered around the upper floors.

Hieno pala Suomen historiaa.

Nice exhibits and educational displays. We visited at end of September with two children both enjoyed exploring and learning about the castle and history. Trying on the suit of armour was the highlight. Displays were written in English/Finnish and Swedish. Unfortunately the prison was closed as we visited outside of the summer time which was a bit of a disappointment.

Museum itself was awesome and super cool! Definitely recommend a visit to experience a 900 year old castle! The gift shop looked like it was really cool, but sadly they closed 20 minutes before the rest of the museum so we didn't get to buy anything :(

Big, well-maintained castle at the shore of Hämeenlinna. Nice to walk around along the water as well. If you want a glimpse into medieval Scandinavian history, get your ticket into the museum. The exhibition is also narrating about Russian occupation and use as a women's prison before its most recent renovation.

Such a beautifully situated castle! A walk along the river is must. I happened to have visited during their annual medieval festival and the castle grounds were buzzing with happy Finns, great merchandise and amazing food! Inside the castle, there is a history exhibition. You can admire the strategic location of the castle from the higher points. The museums are equally interesting. Don't miss the prison museum!

Super interested and gorgeous architecture of this castle dating back to the 1400's. Definitely take the time to visit this location and gorgeous setting along the water. The surrounding town of Hameenlinna is lovely!

Good experience for those who want to know about the history and how people used to live in ancient times! It's a well maintained castle with amazing views of the lake from the castle!

To begin, Häme Castle is a pretty place😍😍🤩🤩 situated along a river🏞️ and surrounded by grassland.🌾 This castle is absolutely beautiful. *⚠️Just a heads up, some places are off limits due to construction.🚧 The staff are very friendly and seem passionate about their job, since the lady who assisted me gave me some pamphlets about the place (*which I had to return). The castle🏰✨ is amazing❤️🗝️. Actually amazing is an understatement since there are no words to describe how beautiful this place is. It's huge on the inside, with decent water closets (*I even got a chance to use the royal restroom🚾🚽🧻🧼). Furthermore, there's a dining hall; you can see knights shiny✨ armour 🛡️⚔️🗡️and other cool palace features. 🃏✨ It set up like a house of Anubis maze on the inside, so try to remember your way out. This castle is medieval style and if you're into the Merlin series and pretty places then this place is for you. Also if you want cool pics for insta. 😘📷 It looks like somewhere Merlin🧙🏻‍♂️ could be filmed. Although it took 17 euros💲💲💲 and about 1hr⏳🚌 to get here, it was worth it. In addition, Häme has a little museum shop w/ souvenirs you can take (I mean buy). I got a little snowball🔮 and a rainbow🍭🍡 lollipop. Furthermore, there is also a prison house museum which read "Closed due to private event" to my surprise and disappointment since, I really wanted to go there and even bought a ticket. 🤔🤨 I also heard it's haunted.👻🏣 There's also an exhibition. You can take a walk along the river outside.🏞️ I was gobsmacked there weren't a lot of people at this amazing place.🤴🏽👸🏾 Visit Häme Castle if you get the chance as it was the highlight of my visit to Hämelinna . It is truly a wonderful royal experience to be here and I feel blessed🙏🏾 to have had the opportunity to walk on royal ground. 👑💎💍 It's an actual heaven on earth. 🌁 *Tip: some of the ground is pebbled, so take shoes suitable for that. 👢

Historical place and restored and available for the public. Easy to find, and combined with other buildings that make a full day out, but note the place closes at 4pm. Guided tour was short and included in the ticket. We spent around 2h to go through all rooms and read thoroughly the info. Opportunities to try out armour and peasant clothing. Shop was a bit basic though.

We made it in time for the daily English guided tour (included in the ticket), which was a 40 odd minute summary of most parts of the castle, after which you have time to explore it on your own. The castle itself is not too big and can easily be explored without tiring yourself out. There are just enough artefacts and exhibits to keep you occupied for a few hours, but not so much that it overwhelms you with information. The gardens and the areas surrounding the castle along the lake make for a nice stroll too.

Hieno paikka vierailla. Hyvällä säällä vaikea löytää parkkipaikkaa, lippujonossa ei kauaa kestänyt. Paikkaa kunnostettu hienosti ja nähtävää riitti. Moderni osa hieman tuntuu hassulta vanhassa linnassa.

Vaikuttava paikka.

Hyvin restauroitu linna, jossa esitellään vanhaa linnaa. Osa linnasta remontoitu näyttely-, kokous- ja juhlakäyttöön. Vaihtuvan näyttelynsä Metsän kuninkaat näyttely, jossa oli esillä Suomen suurnisäkkäitä sekä aiheeseen liittyvää taidetta.

Great location to feel medieval atmosphere. Unfortunately not every part of it was open to visit due snow :(

This castle is a MUST-VISIT one in whole Finland! It's quite close to the train station (like 20mins walking along the very beautiful river Hämeenlinna has) and it's not only the Castle, but the museum inside (with guided tours), the museum of the Prison and also the Military museum! With those three, you literally have hours of visiting, and it's quite interesting (the last one the most, in my opinion). The castle entrance costs 8€ for students, 12 for adults. Then you have packs for the three museums that you can visit undefinedly! So if you don't have time to visit one, you can go another day! The castle itself is quite well restored, maintained and able to visit whenever! Close to there, they celebrate the Medieval fair and also the Wanaja festival, both are super nice! Inside, you can go to several bathrooms, there is a coffee shop and you can visit some limited-time exhibitions! Definitely, a wonderful spot to stop by during your trip around Finland!
