Fabulous campground. We stayed in Cabin 2 with a queen bed and twin bunk beds, mini fridge, microwave, and a/c. The fire pit and picnic table were a great touch. The bathhouses were clean and well maintained. The pool has a great view and is a nice way to spend a hot day. We also did the cavern tour which was excellent. Eric gave is a private tour and we really enjoyed it!

We definitely enjoyed our stay at Raccoon Mountain Caverns and Campground. It’s easily accessible to downtown Chattanooga, and other tourist attractions in the area. The campground is surrounded by mountains and you have a great view. Full hookup sites, trash pick up twice a day, nice dog park, swimming pool and seemed to be very well maintained. We will definitely be back again for another visit. Highly recommend this campground if you are looking for a nice getaway.

Loved the cave tour here! Our tour guide (wish I remembered his name!) was fantastic and very knowledgeable. It was a small group of about 10 of us which made for a great experience. Plenty of time to stop and explore, everyone was very respectful of the cave formations, and we learned a ton! We did the Ruby Falls tour the next day and it was awful - highly recommended skipping the tourist trap and coming to Raccoon Mountain instead :) oh, and the cats were an added bonus!!

Campground has nice views, full hookups in some sites. (Called Deluxe sites), a bit priced and early checkout (11 am). Bathhouse could use a very good clean up. No handicap shower or toilet. Toilets not bolted in place, air vents very clogged with dust, showers don't have hooks or bench to put your clothes. If you don't have to use the bathhouse you will be OK. I think that clean and comfortable bathhouse is important in this kind of business.

We had an amazing experience today during the hour tour with Christmas lights and decorations. We called to reserve and were able to join the next group. Cory was our tour guide and he shared amazing scientific background and history about the cave. He got us very excited about going back for the 2 hour wild cave tour. My 8 year old son, who was not very attracted to science, is now super motivated about learning geology and science in general. We are definitely going back. I highly recommend this cave.

We came to visit from Florida and ended up having our own private tour with Rachel. The tour was wonderful. The cave was beautiful and our tour guide was very personable and knowledgeable and really let us experience the cave and answered any questions we had. It was an overall wonderful experience and if we ever come back to Chattanooga we will be sure to revisit.

Had a really nice cave tour here. My tour guide Ava was very knowledgeable. I was lucky to go on a tour by myself, the next group was much larger. Very nice cave with lots of formations. Also saw cave crickets and salamanders. Way less touristy then ruby falls and more enjoyable honestly.

We loved this place! Our cabin was great. The staff was wonderful, helpful, and friendly. The facilities were great. The cave was Beautiful! (We took a vote amongst our group and preferred Racoon Mountain cave to "that other cavern tour with the waterfall across the creek valley."

I would love to leave a better review. First of all, the campground itself is excellent. The camp sites were an adequate size for our pretty good-sized tent, though the ground is a bit rocky. Also, the bathrooms are clean, in great condition, and very conveniently accessible from the camp sites, along with a nice playground for the kids. There's an excellent set of hiking trails just off the cavern tour parking lot, which makes for a great activity option without having to go anywhere else in the area. Finally, the service from the manager and all other employees was impeccable on our visit. So why the lower rating? Unfortunately, the nighttime noise was a significant issue for us. First, the campground is not all that far from the city, which means you can hear trains blaring their horns as they come into the city all night long. *All* night long. And you can hear the trains playing bumper cars in the train yard somewhere off in the distance, as the cars slam into one another to engage their connections. Also, the area where our tent site was located is right next to a service road that leads through the campground to a private residence at the back of the property, which the homeowners used liberally late at night (their dog also got out and wandered into our camp site, but the dog was nice at least). The gravel noise from the tires and the light from their headlights came right through our tent easily, sometimes near midnight. I really wish the review could be better. If not for the noise, it would have been a perfect camping experience. If you can add some ear plugs and maybe a sleeping mask, or if you're a really heavy sleeper, this would be a great choice.

While I was staying in Chattanooga I decided to take the 20 minute drive out to Raccoon mountain to tour the caves. While you can’t make a reservation online for a tour (and you can’t tour them on your own) I was able to join the next tour. I recommend calling to make a reservation as they do not have consistent tours. Zachary was our tour guide and he did an amazing job sharing the science behind the cave and all the different formations. I grew up going to a lot of caves around the US and this one rivals many of the better known caves. The owners have done a wonderful job preserving the natural beauty of this cave and we had the opportunity to see all kinds of cave creatures including some bright yellow and orange salamanders. I just did the 1 hour walking tour but they also have some cave crawling experiences that looked like a lot of fun. Highly recommend!

We only stopped on a recent visit to Chattanooga to tour the Raccoon Mountain Cavern. We took the Crystal Palace Walking Tour. Rachel was our guide and she did an exceptional job! She was very informative and made it fun too! It takes about an hour to do the tour and the cave was a cool 58 degrees so a welcome respite from the 100 degree weather outside.

Loved to have a tour in the cavern. So much to learn and our tour guide was kind and funny. 😁 He really made sure we got the best out of our time and money. I loved my experience there. I learned a lot about the cavern and all of animals while in there. It's a great thing to do with family and friends. ❀️

Crystal Caves walking tours was very informative and easy to do. Lasted about an hour. It's a bit pricey but glad we did. The guide was very nice and flexible with us due to our anxious special needs girl, so that was much appreciated. Recommend for something to check out in the area.

Staff was great, location was awesome. Lots of amenities. The Caverns were right on sight and the tour was really fun and interesting. I have a 10 and 12 year old and it kept their interest. Trash picked up every day on time and the office stayed open late which was really nice. Cable was really good. Easy to get to Chattanooga and there was shopping nearby if you needed to pick up something that you forgot. Price was very reasonable. Overall we had a really great experience. Would definitely visit again.

This campground has just about everything you want in a campground. It has nice spots, cabins, tent spots, a swimming pool, 2 playgrounds, and a laundry. It even has gem mining and cave tours right there in the campground! Their camp store is small, but that's fine because you're right on the edge of Chattanooga, and Walmart is just down the road. Located on Raccoon Mountain, and just across I-24 from Lookout Mountain, the park offers some breathtaking views. My family enjoyed it and recommends staying here.

This was so much fun. I generally only have one day where I can visit my wife, and she planned a cavern exploration while I was here in town! The place has a great vibe. The cavern is huge and the guides know a ton of cool information. Highly recommend, and they also have a dirt panning experience if you're so inclined. A ton of fun for kid and adult alike :)

The hardest hike I had ever been on. It was definitely challenging. Coming down is no easier than going up. It would be nice if there were more labels. We went looking for the waterfall in one of the pictures but there was no direction to get there on the hiking ground. The paths weren't super clear. There was some guys work to get to the top. Luckily some people left rope behind to help people up once the path became steep. The views were fantastic.

There is not a lot to do if you don't wanna get in the pool. There are some games and things for kids. But the cabins have always been clean and the staff is super nice. We haven't tried the caves, but it is a good place to get away from a full house and spend some time with the Mrs. We've been 3 or 4 times and will continue to go when we need a break and some alone time. Decent prices, and close enough to Chattanooga that if you forget something there's a Walmart and dollar tree right down the road

A hidden gem!! Absolutely beautiful campground. The staff here is amazing. Excellent hospitality. Very clean and well cared for. Daily trash pick up at your site. Firewood delivered. Quiet and peaceful. Beautiful mountain views. One mile from gas, grocery, and restaurants. Two very nice playgrounds. Clean bath/shower house. We will definitely return. This was an unexpected one night stop but the next time we pass thru we will look forward to an extended stay. This is going on my favorites list!

Campground is located in a great place! Close to everything! The underground cavern is a must! 100 times better than Ruby Falls! Corey was the best tour guide ever! If you are in Chattanooga, it is a "must see"!

By far one of the most hospitable places I've ever been. The rooms are updated with fresh paint, throw rugs towels and linens. The bathhouses are all refreshed and clean. The staff is engaging, knowledgeable about the area and they pay extra close attention to detail and satisfaction. Lilly, Josh and their team is amazing. Don't hesitate, book today!

We didn’t camp but did the 45 minute cave tour. We were the last group of the day so there were only four of us that went through the cavern. Our guide was amazing & shared awesome history and facts of the cave. Weren’t money hungry or pushing us to pay for pictures & the guide took our picture for free. Definitely enjoyed the cave conservation experience vs the common money driven places. All around a great experience to finish our day in Chattanooga.

This campground is well taken care of, all of the staff were attentive friendly and worked hard to make sure we had everything we needed. Firewood was delivered to our campsite whenever we needed more. Trash was picked up from our site and the place was walking distance to the Cave which we enjoyed so much! The staff was having their annual Christmas party and invited us to attend with them. Don't miss the opportunity to stay here if you are close.

Great campground..very friendly and accommodating! The cavern tour with our guide Tristan, was the best part of our 3 park ten day trip. He shared so much knowledge, answered all our questions, and was friendly, funny and an amazing young man. It's an awesome place you have to add to your itinerary if you're in the area. Close to downtown but still quiet and relaxing. Nice pool and great dog park too!

Cockroach infestation in cabin! To start off they admitted the didn't realize we were arriving that day. (i booked it two weeks prior). I walked in the cabin and noticed, cockroach poop all in the bathroom cabinet and two dead cockroaches. I assumed they just didn't clean well. To my dismay, each morning we woke up to more dead cockroaches! I had to borrow their broom to sweep them out each day! it was disgusting. I really wanted to leave early, but they have a no refund policy and i couldn't take that $200 some a night loss. Which is a lot to charge for a bug infested room. They obviously know there is a cockroach problem because cockroaches don't just die after one night, so they have to have poison out for them somewhere. The last morning (4 nights unfortunately) i woke up to a dead one on my pillow!!! Each morning i threw out a couple of dead ones, and the last day as I did the final more thorough sweep of the cabin before we left, under the bed I swept into a pile, cockroach eggs, babies, and many adults. I have never seen so much in such a small area. I made sure to check our clothes when we got home and sure enough there was a dead one in them. The one positive was my children had fun meeting new friends on the playground. But I will not be back. I hate to leave a bad review, but I really wish i had known this before booking our 'vacation'. They also had recently painted the exterior of the cabin. You could tell as paint gloves were left on the gravel walkway to the door.

The campground is very nice with friendly and helpful staff. We reserved with shorter notice for a 2 week stay and the only sites available were the narrow ones. The space was a little tight but it allowed us to meet our neighbors more readily. We ended up with a private tour of the caverns as no one else had reserved the time slot. It was interesting and beautiful. I would return if back in the area.

This was our second time tent camping at Raccoon Mountain. We are locals with small children, so we enjoy the location close to home with the feel as if we are getting out of town, but with the closeness of all our favorite activities. The grounds and bathroom are sparkling clean and other guests are considerate of quiet hours and friendly. Our kids love the playgrounds and gem panning. Some of the tent sites with pads can be pretty rocky, but there are also sites in the grass. These can be pretty close to one another, but it is what it is.

Rachel was a wonderful guide for the crystal palace cave tour. We spent a full hour but it flew by. Such a beautiful place, everywhere you looked there were amazing formations. It did not feel "touristy" at all. There were about 10 people total in our group. Rachel answered everyone's questions and gave a lot of info about the formation of the cave as well as interesting stories about it's history. The cave is in really good shape and water is still dripping inside. I highly recommend this tour.

Camped here and really enjoyed it. Sites near us were all pull-through which was awesome. Plenty of green space for our kids, and seems to be a good place for dogs as well. Friendly and hardworking staff. Enjoyed the cave tour, but I think there are more beautiful caves out there. Corey did great job making us feel comfortable and safe on cave walking tour. Learned the facility is under new management, so curious to see if some of the old attractions are brought back. Would stay here again.

The lady that guided us was very knowledgable and very helpful and fun. The cave is "smaller" than some of the others in the area, but it's also better preserved. There's a pretty strict "no touching" policy, obviously. It has a lot of good features. It's not as flashy as Cathedral or Ruby Falls, but it's still very interesting and intimate. It's a lot more wet and muddy than other cave tours I've been on, so be prepared for muddy shoes.

First time here , loved it. Big rig friendly and very quiet park with an amazing views. The staff was very accommodating to our needs. They have a large clean dog park and plenty of green space . We visited the caves next door and enjoyed it as well. We thought the experience was way better than Ruby falls. We will be back.

This is the best campground we have ever visited! From the facilities to the amenities, Raccoon Mountain Campground is fantastic! Amazing staff, beautiful location, pool, showers, games, camp store, and CAVERNS! The cavern tour was fantastic, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the whole experience! I would leave more stars if I could! Can't wait to come back!

Great location and great service. Check in was a breeze and staff was lovely. We were on a road trip with our kids in early Feb. And did a cavern tour with Hannah. We lucked out and got a private tour that day and it was amazing! We totally geeked out with Hannah on all her great geology knowledge! Definitely worth a stop for a cavern tour and overnight.

My wife and I stayed at the campground for our honeymoon. It was quiet and relaxing and we had a wonderful trip. We realized over halfway home to Ohio that my wife had forgotten her phone at the campsite when we packed up. The staff were all very kind when we called, sent people out to look for it, and called us right away when it was found. I sent them a prepaid mailer to send it back to us and it arrived today in the mail. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. The campground went above and beyond to help us return her phone that contained so many precious memories. Thank you Raccoon Mountain!!

My family of three rented cabin 6 for a few days this past week. Cabin was cozy and clean with comfy beds, and the small porch came in handy during the spotty rain showers that popped up. My son LOVED the pool and playgrounds, while my husband and I most appreciated the CLEAN showers and on-site laundry. Staff was friendly and helpful. There are 8 cats on staff. Tippy (who I suspect may be head of customer relations) adopted us for a few days and was a constant companion. Would love to stay here again!

Very clean quiet and friendly campground. Check in process was very smooth. Cabin was clean and neat as a pin. Kids enjoyed playground as well. Very convenient to local attractions. The cavern was much nicer than expected. Probably as a whole nicer than the more well known ruby falls. Already planning our next visit

It was good. We have one more night to go. Cute little cabin. Only negatives I found were that they gave us firewood that was too wet and that the neighbors dog wouldn't stop barking most of the time we were here (not their fault) I have 2 dogs as well and they were not barking. Little bark park is cute. Caverns were cool and Ben was a good tour guide.

A well deserved employee of the month poster. Talk about INCREDIBLE customer service.... The wonderful feline by the name of Callie is the definition of incredible customer service. We booked a cave tour and she kept us company the entire time we waited, she provided us with purrs and meows and was not opposed to being pet.. which was the best part! She's friendly to everyone! (well everyone but the dogs that came by but that was warranted) I'd come here again just to see Callie, the cave tour is a bonus.
