Wonderful campground close to Chattanooga. We stayed for 4 nights to visit the area and are already planning a trip back just for the campground.. We were very fortunate that our 36' camper with 3 slides fit in our site just fine. Some of the sites are super small. We had site 149 right next to the bath house. The site had plenty of shade and area for the kids to play and hang out hammocks. Ever where you look you can see the lake and deer so you have great views.

I had not been to Chester frost in over a decade. There are changes. Most notably the Nooga Splash floating inflated playground at the beach area. It looks fun, and has lifeguards, but I heard it was expensive. I went to kayak. The lake is large enough to get some good exercise in. The public use area was clean, with easy access to the water with my kayak. One drawback is that millionaires and billionaires seem to have bought every square inch of land around the lake and put mansions on it. No places to stop along the shore and pull out for a rest or snacks. It was all wild space and farm before. Now it's private boat ramps and two story boat docks everywhere. Except all the RV campgrounds. Good lake. Disappointing shoreline.

We love this park. It was very nice and peaceful and had an inflatable water park for the kids. Anything you need they have it there for sale or for rent. Food, drinks, dippin dots, candy, bucket and sand shovel, sunscreen, paddle board, etc. Only negative was they really need air-conditioning in the bathrooms. It was so hot in there.

Busy campground with long term campers. Great for water activities as access to lake is everywhere. Kind of crowded in peak times with lots of tent campers. Facilities desperately need updates and expansion. Overall a great govt park with pavilions and water opportunities.

I usually put in at harrison bay, but I was on this side of the lake so I put in here this time. Ample parking, and a 3 lane boat ramp if you can get some people who know how to back a trailer straight. The vending machine with fishing baits in it is a nice touch, and having police drive through every so often is also nice.

Chester Frost Park is an amazing place to come. It is great for couples, families or by yourself the lake is so beautiful with mountains in the horizon. It’s free to enter but you pay to camp.

Pair of Eagles seen on a beautiful fall day at Chester Frost Park. In the picture, I tried to get the pair of eagles that flew straight at us from across the lake. One is visible in the photo off in the distance as it flew past us. A very memorable experience. I hope you see them too.

Very nice park for the families. There is a sand beach and children playground and also a lot of possibilities for water sports.

This is our Happy Place.... Even with the rate increases, it is well maintained, secured by Rangers patrolling so your kids can play. A beautiful place.

Campsite was beautiful but the women’s bathroom by site 93 was disgusting. There is poor drainage in the shower and no hot or even warm water for showering. Also there are overgrown bushes leading up to bathroom. Please replace toilet lid and fix hot water!

I have setup multiple picnics here for clients, and it's always lovely. Great view, and a cool spot to hangout, even if you're not swimming. My clients always love the location & it's nice to put my feet in the sand while I'm working. There is also a few places to sit on the dock and fish or just relax. The beach area is usually really clean, but on the busier days, people can be messy, and that's unfortunate, but it doesn't happen often. The splash island inflatable is pretty cool, and they also have a playground the kids can play on. They usually have the concession stand open during splash island hours and there are drink machines as well. Bathrooms nearby & plenty of places to sit and eat. I highly recommend Chester Frost if any of these things sound appealing.

Sites are small and close, but well kept. Bathrooms and showers were clean. A Lot of boat traffic. Has a nice beach area and tons of spots to fish. Will visit again.

This place was definitely beautiful. The pictures doesn’t do it justice. I didn’t go swimming but it was great just to sit there and enjoy the peace of the outdoors

Chester Frost park located in Hixon TN. Is an excellent place to spend a day or an entire weekend. Whether you just there for a day of picnicking, or camping for a few days. The place has plenty to offer. Beautiful and serene lake where to practice all your water activities like swimming. Kayaking, jet skiing, paddle boarding, canoeing, or just getting your feet wet. There's a beach area for the little ones, or you could just choose a shady spot, and throw your blanket, set your camping chairs, and access the lake from there. There's also some picnic tables spread out, and a pavilion for large gathering. There are bathrooms available as well, and plenty of parking. There also in front of the beach. A concession store, and boat rental place. And lastly but no least. Chester Frost park is the base for Nooga Splash obstacle water park, where the kids can have plenty of fun for one hour, or more depending on the package you buy. So if you didn't know this. Make plans, and head out to there this weekend. You'd enjoy it

One of our favorite parks to camp in, even as tent campers. Lots of spots near the water. Can be noisy between boat traffic and other campers but it’s hard to beat the location.

Site 225: We enjoyed our time here, mostly because we were at the end of the island and had very quiet neighbors. The lake is beautiful and honestly, any site on the island i think would be a good spot. The spots closer to the Ranger Station, are just packed too tight for us. The lake level was a little low because of winter pool, but the lake was still beautiful and even more walkable. Our spot had descent wifi provided by the campground. The electric pole and water spigot were very new and worked as expected. The website said our spot was level, it is NOT but it wasn't too bad. The tongue of our trailer was only about 8 inches off the ground when we finally got it level. While i totally understand the check in time is 2, i've never been to a campground that wouldn't allow you in (within reason) if you got there a little early. That said, it did warn us not to get there early on the website. We got there 20 minutes early, trying to beat the rain and they made us wait til 2 to checkin. I do think it could be a better park if they updated the bathroom by the graveyard and made a few other improvements but i do think they're working on it. I did like having a park trash can beside each site. The picnic table was in nice shape as was the grill and the whole outdoor area at our site. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Great place to spend the day swimming and cooking out. Very family friendly and secure with Hamilton County Park Rangers constantly patrolling. Only 4 Stars bc of there only being 3 grills for the entire day use area, inadequate parking and the price of the water playground!

  • 4/5 Eddie C. 1 year ago on Google
Great campground! Only reason it's four stars is you have to haul gray and black by waste totes. Only one dump station you can pull up to with your RV. All the others you have to use the portable totes. This doesn't deter from the overall experience. We live this park and will be back again.

Beautiful place for pictures. Easy accessible boat ramps. Swimming area, overnight campsites available, beach area with sand and playgrounds, picnic tables available at no cost open pavilions great for parties or get togethers and one large closed pavilion which is great for large parties and weddings. All pavilions require reservations and deposits

Lovely evening in a perfectly beautiful setting. Cool breeze. Traffic very slow, parking very limited. Rather amazing for boating, swimming, water sports and family.
