My favourite place to eat. Top quality food, best meals I've ever had... And the setting is brilliant. There is an outside area with tents, and a stage for music and pizza place. Inside there is also a little shop selling local goods and flowers. It's very cosy inside and staff are good.

We took over The Old Thatch for two days of filming for a local feature film production! The staff were so lovely, helpful, and accommodating. I cannot praise them highly enough for their support during the shoot. They provided catering, too, and the food was consistently phenomenal. Perfect idyllic pub, wonderful people and service, tasty food, what more could you want? Thanks so much! See you again in the future!

The Old Thatch in Stapehill, Wimborne, Dorset, a 17th century pub which sits directly opposite historic Stapehill Abbey has a very warm and welcoming feel to it, from the roaring fireplace to the friendly smiling staff. My wife and I decided to try this place out as we had heard great things, and we were not disappointed. We had not booked, but the staff found us a lovely cosy corner next the fire. The seating was very comfy and I could have stayed all afternoon. The staff was very attentive and a drinks order placed within a few minutes of sitting down. After a quick study of the menu the waitress brought over the drinks order and took our food order. The starter arrived in good time and it tasted fantastic, fresh and full of flavour, once finished the waitress wasted no time in clearing our plates and again the main course arrive shortly after hot and freshly cooked. The mains were perfect, the pie was great and the vegetables cooked to perfection, crisp and full of colour. The deserts followed and again food heaven. So what does this place score for us. Atmosphere, 5 stars Service, 5 stars Food quality, 5 stars Price, 5 Stars

Great food but abit on the pricey side. Walked in and you get hit with the smell from the artisan bakery and the rustic vibes made it feel really homely! Great place to come for catch up for a coffee or a pint

I had booked for a party of four for Sunday dinner. We were not disappointed, we were looked after on arrival by Rachel who served our table. The serves as very good and wasn't waiting long between courses. The food just melted in your mouth and so far the best Sunday roast out that we've had locally to us in Ferndown. We will definitely return again.

Amazing place to go with children. Lots for them to do whilst you sip on a cold cider. The lamb roast was tender, and it came with an absolute unit of a gravy boat. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful place both inside and out. It has a cute little shop inside you can buy jams flowers and other home made/grown items. We had Sunday lunch, and omg it was delicious and very plentiful. Staff were so nice and friendly too. Would definitely recommend. X

We did have an issue whereby our ticket was lost for a Sunday roast, although we had to wait for some additional time it was handled well, honesty goes along way and this was also reflected in our bill. An amazing Sunday roast and they’re very accommodating with Children. Would highly recommend!

Best pub I've ever visited. Incredible food. My pie was off the scale, every element of the meal was done to perfection. Staff are friendly and helpful and dressed really neatly. The interiors are also really aesthetic - warm and cosy, nice ambience. There's also a fantastic shop selling all local goods and flowers. In the garden there is also a pizzeria, a stage for music, tent area, giant game of chess and kids play area. They have thought of everything! My new favourite place. Definitely visiting again, thank you :)

We had an excellent breakfast on Saturday morning. Good customer service, we felt very welcome and dog friendly too. The produce was top quality and the sausage was particularly good. Presented beautifully and we ate every bite. Looking forward to returning for another meal very soon.

I love a good burger and this was okay. It didn’t scream amazing but didn’t scream bad. Average. Dessert took so long to come which was frustrating. A stunning location though for a pub.

Friendly service and delicious food! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Old Tatch today. The food was excellent (I had the confit of pork with crackling, apple puree, rich gravy and veg). Definitely a kitchen with chefs who know how to cook. Recommended!

Food was nice and the atmosphere was good. Lovely pub. Wasn’t happy with the 10% service charge. We’re not in London. Yes I know you can refuse to pay it but why make a scene? I would rather tip the staff directly. This will definitely put me off going back!

Lunch today was superb. Our roast dinner was so tasty. The staff are so helpful and attentive. We had a guest with us who has lots of allergies, the whole team /staff could not have done more to ensure her safety. Will be back very soon.

Really enjoyed our visit here. Great food and friendly staff. I had a kids meal as I didn't fancy such a large Sunday Roast on a hot day! It was tasty, went outside with the kids at the end and what a fantastic area they have in the woodland! Gorgeous! We were only here visiting family but if i was in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Popped in here after a lovely dog walk. On Saturdays they do brunch! We all had the Thatch full breakfast which was perfect topped off with a Bellini! Service was spot on, very friendly and efficient. There is also a little shop on the premises with fresh bread and other bits and bobs! Dog friendly.

We had lunch here a few weeks back and decided to try out the Sunday Roast today. The food is a absolutely delicious, generous portions and beautifully presented The staff, in particular Tamsin, are very knowledgeable about the menu and all the sister restaurants Lovely venue, will definitely be back

This is an idyllic pub, that infuses a traditional feel with modern design for it's decoration. The food here was fantastic, I had a chicken and mushroom pie that was spot on! The vegetables that came with it were perfectly cooked and left me very impressed. Those dining with me also had the vegetarian.mushroom option which they enjoyed equally as much. We each had desert and drink. The deserts looked.and tasted great and they had a nice selection of local beers available. Our waitress was friendly, accommodating and attentive. I cannot fault our visit to this pub/restaurant and will certainly be returning.

Been driving past this place for over 38+ years and have never entered!! What a great find.. obviously it's not the same pub as it was so many years ago but just a beautiful set up and a great place to eat as a family, individual, music supplied. Great outdoor area to eat and the inside is tastefully set with period decoration with a modern twist. Great service and attentive staff, the Roast was lovely, gravy nice and hot and tasty and meats cooked lovely the only down side from my perspective was the Yorkshire's were a little over done and hence dry and I like my tatties crispy!! however this was dutifully made up with extra pork crackerling💕🥰💯💕 Can't wait to come in an evening to outdoor lights on in a crispy Autum evening supping a beer and eating!! Thankyou👍

The Old Thatch - Ferndown Dorset FIVE STAR - Everything !! Sunday 10th Dec 12.45 - Table 16 Saw a recent advert regarding The Old Thatch and its award winning menu !! Thought I'd make a chance phone call and try to book for Sunday Lunch....fitted us in and we were not disappointed. The pub is beautifully decorated for Xmas, not too over the top. As you walk in the door there is an instance relaxing feel to the place....atmoshere great (log fire burning). We were shown to our table and served by REI, who was welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. The Lamb Roast and Turkey Roast was excellent and arrived quickly. Can see why it's won awards !! The team were superb, REI in particular was extremely helpful and gave great service (thank you). We will most definitely visit again, REI explained that we should come in the week as the menu is terrific.....we will. Thanks again.....I do hope REI gets the recognition she deserves, lovely to see a team member take her job so seriously and professionally so nice with it. REI asked if we were happy with our meal and mentioned that service was added to the bill and were we happy for it to stay on the bill.....instead of so many places just adding without a care it was such a nice thing to do, ask if we were happy !! Well done, and yes we were delighted with the meal and service !! Good car parking round the back too....we will be back, have great Xmas everyone. Thanks Julian & Amanda

The mussels starter off the Special menu were fantastic, plump and moist (so many places overcook shellfish!) the nicest I’ve had in ages. The pork loin was really well cooked and seasoning was spot on. I really cannot fault the cooking, no wonder the place is so popular.

The food here is really good. It's a little more pricey than other pubs in the area but I think the atmosphere and staff are worth the money. There are plenty of veggie and vegan options here and on both visits my food has been amazing. The staff have really taken care of my family - both young and old. I'd recommend the pie of the day or the fish and chips. Lots of parking and dogs are welcome too!

Nice old school pub with a Sunday roast on top. Service was OK perhaps would have been slightly better if it was quieter as this was at peak Sunday lunch! Great for kids also. Will return!

I rarely write reviews but had probably one of the best Sunday Roasts at the old thatch. Such great atmosphere. Quaint country pub, friendly staff and excellent food. Bit of a drive for us but will go out of our way to go back.

We booked a party of 10 to celebrate my wife's birthday, including 3 children under 8 and a new born baby. It was great having the play equipment close at hand. The food was served within a reasonable period of time and it was excellent, except the children's food was not hot enough. Service was friendly and helpful. Overall, a good choice and we would go there again.

Gorgeous looking pub inside & out. Shame the experience and customer service doesn’t match. Great quality food (with the exception of my daughters fish goujons which was just a big ball of batter - fish must have slipped through the net), small portions, poor service (for which you get charged 10% of your order - which would have been larger if they had asked if we would like more drinks!). Better places around so won’t be rushing back.

Really enjoyed our lunch today! We turned up just after noon, without a booking, and although they were going to be really busy, they accommodated us (6 adults and 3 children) without any hassle. The food was great and the staff really friendly. We had artisan breads with a lovely olive oil/balsamic vinegar mix. Really tasty and nicely presented prawn cocktail-with-a-difference. Very nice Sunday roasts -with lashings of gravy! All reasonably priced too. The lovely old pub also has an outside eating area under a marquee. Plus an additional outside pizza area and bar, with a great children's play area, under the trees. We will definitely be going back and look forward to the live music sessions, too.

Food etc was great, bad point is a deposit was taken for our mother's day family meal at £10 per head and I'm still waiting for my refund. Apparently it couldn't be deducted from our bill as a third party took the deposit, although my bank statement says it was taken by the Old Thatch, and I was initially informed I would be reimbursed within 5 working days! Emailed to be told there was an issue with third party and would be reimbursed, my point being why should I still be waiting? It should have been deducted from my bill. I was honest and pointed out I hadn't been billed for the flowers and had it added to our bill and paid it accordingly. Feeling very frustrated but the meal was nice, just never pay them a deposit as I'm now £60 out of pocket

Family dinner tonight with a poor menu with very little choice. We all had burgers which were disgusting and very dry and cost over £16 each. Plates were cleared because we had the dog with us. Pub was nice but food not.

A truly great place and for some un known reason took me ages to discover, staff are friendly, we requested a table by the fire which we got and the beer selection is excellent including Offshore (mind you when they have it ) good for gluten free and there are some good options on the menu.

Busy dinnertime. Food was great but staff had many tables so were quite busy. Mushroom pie and vegan burger were great!

Booked ahead for a large group Sunday lunch. Accommodating on telephone and large table set up under canvass on arrival. Great food and choice for adults and children. Lamb roast was incredibly well flavoured and copious! Chocolate brioche bread and butter pudding was a treat. Attentive and lovely staff, nothing too much trouble. Great children's area and fantastic forward thinking using woodland area for future children's play. Well done.
