Free. 6 minutes off interstate. Ample parking. Calm waters. Life guard on duty. Officer on the area. Clean. Shelters where you can eat. Designated swim area. Place to rinse. Not too crowded. Great places for small kids to play. You can rent jet skid..

I've been coming to Buckroe Beach for more than 30 years. It's a beautiful little beach in Hampton, VA with both public beach and private beach I've been lucky to enjoy. Sitting on the Chesapeake Bay, you can see the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on a clear day. If you're lucky, you'll see dolphins fishing or playing when the tides change. Buckroe is hardly the nicest beach, but no tourists come either. It's truly a beautiful community beach.

Nice beach, many life guards with a police presence. Clean, well lite area. Only issue was parking. If you are looking for a good, safe, clean beach for you and your kids in which you don’t have to worry about strong rip currents this is your beach. Even had local food trucks driving past. If you are into fishing many places to fish. I plan on returning to walk beach really soon.

We love Buckroe Beach! Our first trip here was last year and only a day trip but we loved it so much that we spent 3 days on the beach this year and plan to come back year after year! The beach is beautiful and not so crowded that you don't have your own space. My kids enjoyed both playing in the sand and the water.

I can not get enough of this beach!!! It is beautiful! The park is very nice. There is a small stage for outdoor concerts. I love the swings & benches along the boardwalk. Nice picnic areas. Clean bathrooms & wash up stations. The port-a-pottys could use a regular cleaning, but its a port a potty so keep your expectations low. My only issue: not open late enough. If I may offer a recommendation or consideration to the people in charge... My husband & I are into star gazing & late night strolls along the beach. Maybe have an evening or 2 on a weekend (or maybe every other weekend) to allow limited access until 12:00 midnight? No children under 18 unless accompanied by an adult. No swimming after sundown on said evenings. Just an opportunity to sit & enjoy this beautiful beach at night!!

We went on purple flag day( jellyfish alert). The lifeguard was very nice to explain this to my son. We still ventured ahead and had a great time. He was able to meet a friendly kid an they had a blast together. The beach could use a little sprucing up but otherwise nice. There is also a playground on site but we did not get a chance to use it. There was a cop at the end of the night making the announcement that the beach was closing. However you can't really hear it. We only understood because we were leaving and walking in that direction. So if you see the cop at the end of the night it's time to get ready to leave. Have a great time.

Buckroe Beach was really cool, Simply cant beat free parking and the Boardwalk all the while gasping at the Ocean.Plenty of restrooms and Shelter for some Amazing Cookouts which the grill is already provided for you. No Alcohol allowed and There are Rangers patrolling as well as the City Police. So drive safe and enjoy The Buckroe beach with a Fishing Pier .

It's a great public beach, one of the best I've ever visited! No fee for parking, and they have ice cream trucks spread throughout the beach. The lifeguards are very friendly there, and so are the people :)

Beautiful local beach. Clean changing and bathroom facilities. Wonderful playground and amphitheater. Great discovery for new residents. Did encounter jelly fish in the water so be on the lookout. It is the ocean after all.

Of course it was freezing outside on a Saturday evening right before the sunset so the beach was fairly empty. The beach itself looks clean and beautiful and is a lot easier to get to then any of the ones we’ve attempted so far. There is minimal-moderate parking so I’m sure on a warm spring or hot sunny day it will most likely fill up fairly quickly. We will definitely be back in the summer to check it out!

Not incredibly crowded but manageable. Good cool water, hot sand, and long walks. Great place for the family. I recommend a pop-up tent or a spot near the edge under one of the piers.

The beach is very nice. They have made improvements to the beach since I was there last. You can rent umbrella's and chairs. We bring our own chairs and lunch. We had a wonderful day. Will be coming back soon. There are public restrooms.

Very kids friendly beach with a designated play area for young kids. A bike lane and a separate walk way! Very clean place! Lots of swing sets and benches to relax with the Atlantic in front of you.

This was a busy experience viewing the goods for sale at the street market. Very busy! It looked very clean and safe. I didn't get to the beach, but enjoyed the shopping at local craft vendors.

Buckroe Beach and Park is located in Hampton, VA. Buckroe Beach and Park is north of Fort Monroe. I have not visited Buckroe Beach since 1978. Buckroe Beach had an amusement park 🎑🎒🎠many years ago. The amusement park closed in 1985 and was torn down in 1991. Buckroe Beach original fishing pier was destroyed in 2003 by Hurricane πŸŒ€ Isabel. The fishing pier was rebuilt by the city of Hampton in 2009. Buckroe Beach has done an amazing job on the improvements. If you have not visited Buckroe Beach for many years, come back and check it out.πŸ–οΈ

Great beach, clean, large, water great. You can walk pretty far along the beach. The signs say no dogs on beach until after September 15th. However, we saw quite a few little ones with their owners. There are lifeguards most of the time.

Quaint small town beach. Well maintained and plenty of police presence making sure rules are followed. We enjoyed the many areas to sit or swing. The Park includes a nice size playground for the kids of all ages, a separate from the boardwalk bike trail with multiple areas to tend to your bicycle or pump air in tires. The bathrooms close early, like the rest if the beach and park access so keep that in mind. Their are showers located on the side of the building. There is a stage for live music or movie night. Would love to see the city begin that again! There's also a Farmers Market every Saturday. Appreciate seeing locals care for the beach and pick up litter left behind from beach goers. All and all a family friendly, wonderful area to gather with friends and family and enjoy a day at the beach.

Plenty of parking. Good restrooms that are accessible as well as family style single room bathrooms beach side. Large fenced playground. Lots of room to spread out on the beach. Ice cream truck rolls by periodically. Boardwalk is long and very wide. Great for strolling.

One of our favorite in the area. Free parking close to the beach. Playground and restroom facility available. Free boardwalk and a fishing pier not far away. Life guards on duty during peek season.

I live in Smithfield and this beach is a great alternative to Virginia Beach in the Summer months. Parking is ample. Facilities are clean and maintained. Very family friendly.

This place is a bit of a hidden gem. It's a smallish beach facing the Chesapeake Bay. So the waves are pretty modest which is easier for folks with young kids. Plenty of parking with easy access to the beach. Not overcrowded. Nice board walk and a couple of piers. Clean bathrooms and changing rooms. A large children's playground. The surrounding area is a largely residential neighborhood. So there's not as much eating, entertainment, or night life options if that's your thing. If you prefer a slower pace then it might be what you're looking for.

Great quiet beach experience. ⛱️ there was ample space to spread out and not too many people. The water was nice, and we went out about 10-15 feet, and the water was only about 3 feet deep. There was jellyfish out, so keep your eyes open. Great family-friendly beach!

Very clean, beautiful park with friendly people! Highly recommend. A little sad that it's only dog friendly September 15-May 15th as my puppy loves beach walking with me and watching the ocean and people.
