Very beautiful place. My son attended space camp for a week. Then we went to tour the building. Lots of spots for photo opportunities even on the top deck of the roof using binoculars just take some quarters. They have so many exhibits including space that let you see your weight on other planets. Play rover and space games and a flying simulator. There is even a little small kids section for play. There is also an imax theater and Cafe. There are a lot of planes, rockets, ships and touchable items here. If you have some free time you should check it out.

Love that this phenomenal museum is right here practically in our backyard! Great exhibits, particularly the aircraft and Apollo 12 capsule. IMAX theater is clean and comfortable. Cafe prices are not too unreasonable. If you live in the area, consider purchasing a membership…well worth it!

Great experience! We went for my son's birthday and he really enjoyed the simulation activities. He was really happy to see the Apollo and Artemis displays. We have a family membership with ATSC and it's worth It! We also met the new director he was approachable and kind. The inflatable moon base and the simulation attraction was closed so that was a disappointment but overall the museum was a great trip!

Lots of exhibitions and things to play with. The virtual rocket is awesome! Plus the 727 kids can get into the cockpit. Very cool. Real pricey [22$] so go for the whole day. (Includes iMax)

This was a very fun museum. With free parking across the street. Good for all ages. It's not huge, we went through in about an hour. Has a few neat exhibits and a good layout.

Been a while since we visited the museum and we were not disappointed. The IMAX theater is always a treat. Love the games in the planet gallery! There is a new section for the little ones that is absolutely adorable!

A slow start getting admittance, the process took a while with several families ahead of us and only one employee. The exhibits are nice and include several interactive areas. The robot lab had one employee trying to link computer pads to the rolling balls which was a little slow. We opted to eat at the cafe before the IMAX movie. This too was extremely slow. We were told the 2 salads and flat bread pizza are made fresh and would take a few minutes. 25 minutes later we got our food. We were the only people eating. If they had a crowd ordering it would have been horrible. The movie was good with only 20 people or so attending. There is plenty to see but be aware there could be some delays. There is a free 2 hour parking lot across the street.

I really enjoyed the museum and as a pilot, I personally want to spend more time in this place since it has so many models in explanations for me to see the whole progress of both the air and the space history. However, I do think that some of the stands with explanation for certain models are not matched to some models. What’s more, if you go to the gift shop, you might find it is crowded and the space between racks are narrow. So I would rather give a four ⭐️ .

Knowing history about human evolution has always enticed me. But never knew knowing about evolution of military aviation could bring so much joy. Before reaching the spot we read reviews about it, that it would be an hour job, a movie included and just planes. But none of it mentioned about it being one hour of unlimited wow moments. "I would say for an enthusiast, like me, it was an amazing experience. Watch, experience, learn, hear and even create paper planes to test your pilot skills. Also, don't forget to go for -- A story of Earth -- and learn more about how the evolution story is changing with everyday research and findings." Ratings: 5/5

We definitely enjoyed our visit! Our girls are 13 and 12 for reference. We all enjoyed the Asteroid Hunters IMAX movie that was included in admission. It was a perfect length - about 45 minutes - the 3D was impressive, and the film itself was truly interesting and inspiring. I was ready to join NASA to help find asteroids by the end of it! We all were "wowed" looking at all the planes suspended from the ceiling and learning about each one based on the displays. The space exploration displays captivated us as well - especially seeing how tiny the Apollo capsules were and how three astronauts spent a lot of time in close quarters! Our girls and specifically my husband also had fun with the interactive video-game type exhibits (moon lander, mars lander, build your own solar system, gravity game, etc). It was a little bit of a bummer that many of the interactive aspects were not working correctly or open (the "your weight on other planets" specifically and some of the games, as well as the robotic lab) but I also suspect that has something to do with short staffing as we visited on a weekday. We spent more than 2 hours here exploring, though, and our teenagers were engaged the whole time. Everyone gave it a thumbs up.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't super crowded and we spent about 2 hours here and were able to see everything that was open. That's the down side though, not everything was open. The interactive computers and screens were really cool and it was a very fun learning experience for my son.

Very nice and high-tech. Great stimulating experience for children. There are smaller rooms where kids get to play with some gadgets. The best part for my kids was the 3D movie. I recommend the visit.

This place is great to see, visit and understand and learn about history of Air vessels. Fun interactive simulation of launching a space shuttle! Great photo spots. Friendly staff. There is parking across the street or nearby lots but the building itself doesn't have a specific parking lot. Watch your choice of movie in IMAX there. It is included with your ticket. Just note that the movie is around 45 minutes and in 3D.

This was a fantastic find! My niece wanted to go back after visiting on a school field trip so off we went and had a great time! There are so many exhibits that are interactive as well as a kid's play area to get wiggles out. Everything from airplanes, ship models to space and planets was available to see and learn about. We didn't visit the cafe but I did notice they had one as well as a very cool gift shop. Restrooms are clean and there is plenty of seating in all areas if you need a rest while the rest of your party explores. There is also a viewing area on the 3rd floor if you don't mind a few stairs.

Awesome experience and very educational! I especially enjoyed the mini movies and interactive displays. You could totally get lost in here for hours from taking in everything this place has to offer. My only regret is not visiting earlier so that I could stay longer than I did.

Underwhelmed, exhibitions were closed, and observation deck closed. Imax on Caves was fabulous. We only stayed about 2 hrs, our 13 yr old son was frustrated so many hands on experiences were broken. Not worth the high admission cost. Disappointed, sigh.

The Virginia Air & Space Science Center provides a wealth of information for anyone interested in aviation, space exploration, and technology; including giant-screen digital IMAX films. A wonderful experience for all! The Virginia Museum of History & Culture sponsored this amazing trip.

It's not that huge a place, but a fun place to spend a few hours. The IMAX movie is included in the admission price. The Deep Sky IMAX movie was good. Some of the interactive activities, like driving the Mars Rover and the lunar lander, were fun and challenging.

We loved the Virginia Air and Space Museum. We had kids from 6 to 13 with us, and all the children and adults loved it. We wish the observation deck was open and some of the exhibits were close, but we still had tons of fun and spent 3 hours there!

It was unbearably humid. It was so hot their computers overheated, and they ladies had to set up elsewhere for a purchase. I liked the displays, but not worth the price. Most things were closed or blocked off, and there was nothing online indicating where we could park or for how long. Not likely returning.

Amazing experience! Lots of ships and activities to see and interact with! Lots of informative posters and signs. Worth the price, and so much fun! The ticket includes a 3-D movie experience!

This science museum was small but packed full of planes and space! A lot of the museum is geared towards children, but definitely a place to visit at least once as an adult as well.

Expected more from such big names. It was clean and visually pleasant but seemed lacking. Many exhibits were closed or missing pieces (airplanes in kids section, etc, pop-up astronaut pods, robotics section and more)). The kids section looks nice but had relatively little to do. There was no staff around on a Saturday to talk, teach, or answer questions. The displays were impressive but most of the big planes, etc. lack explanations. Seems more like an event space you can walk through that had a “hidden figures” makeover than a planned out museum. Electronic interactive displays worked but were limited in explanation and seemed geared toward older kids.

Fantastic museum; we visited in the Fall while my children were on Fall Break in Georgia. Virginia schools do not have a Fall Break so the museum wasn't crowded. There were a ton of hands-on activities to immerse yourself in and the quality of the activities were top notch. Everything was in good working order and clean. The IMAX theatre was cool. Parking garage nearby was convenient.

This was a great experience for both the adults and children in our group. I've been to many air and space museums yet managed to find unique educational exhibits. I would highly recommend this make the attractions list for anyone in the area!

We enjoyed our visit! Lots of good stuff here. Educational and fun. We also saw the asteroid hunters show in the imax theater during our visit. Cons:lots of the technology for the displays wasn’t operating correctly during our visit, which was a bummer. The layout was a bit confusing. And I thought there’d be more to it, it’s actually quite small and we got through everything in about an hour before the imax showing.
