A fountain that caught my eye with its curtain-like waterfall that flows from the upper to the lower basin. It creates a very beautiful picture that gains artistic clarity through the classic sculpture of a sower. The work may seem antiquated to people who do not appreciate its aesthetic versatility, but it is a work of art that has its claim as a contemporary witness. Anyone who loves beauty will easily recognize it in the Duve fountain.

The city's website says: The stately fountain on the central strip of the Leibnizu bank between the old town and Calenberger Neustadt was built in 1916 in memory of the Hanoverian entrepreneur Johann Duve (1611–1679). The Linden sculptor Georg Herting created the monument with the large bronze figure "Sower", who looks towards the original location of the fountain on Neustädter Markt while scattering his seeds. In fact, the fountain is stately and well worth seeing - unfortunately located on a busy street.

Unfortunately, due to the Second World War, the fountain is no longer in its original location "Neustädter Markt", but at least the fountain figure "Sämann" looks towards this place. The Duve Fountain is a piece of Hanoverian history...not spectacular, but still a contemporary witness!

Such sights are undoubtedly very important for a cityscape. With the best will in the world, I can only give the Duve fountain three stars. The deductions are for the fact that - standing directly in front of it - you cannot know at all what kind of monument it is (a sign or something similar is missing) and for the fact that it is VERY loud (and that with constantly heavy traffic.. .)

Not sure why this is marked as a tourist attraction - the sculpture isn't particularly impressive and the fountain wasn't working when we visited; judging by other pictures this isn't uncommon

Unfortunately, this fountain is a little unfortunate on the central reservation on the Leibnizu bank. Traffic rushes past here on the right and left and you can't really look at it in peace. The fountain is also called the Sämann fountain, it's easy to see why. It was created in 1916 by the sculptor Georg Herting and is named after the entrepreneur Johann Duve.

A great monument and beautiful fountain. Unfortunately a bit "lost" in the middle of an intersection, but it marks the transition from the old town of Hsnover to the Calenberger Neustadt. So it's exactly right there :-)

As I see it, it's right on the footpath to the old town, at the flea market on the leash... Always good for a little refreshment in summer. (Hold your hands underneath and moisten your face)
