This noodles is our very first meal in Hanoi and it's soooooo freaking good! I finished the whole bowl! Don't forget to add calamansi and a little bit of soy sauce. Edited to add: today is our last day in Hanoi so we have to come back here. The same level of deliciousness as the first time we were here. Will need to google how this is made when get back home and hope that I can replicate it.

Oh yes!! What a lovely place. Bun Bo Nam Bo is a great dish. Beef steak is first stir fried with garlic along with bean sprouts and a dash of slightly sweet and light broth. Then it is spooned over lettuce and rice noodles, another ladle of broth, followed by crushed peanuts, crispy shallots, pickled papaya and carrot. 60k for a bowl. Also had a piece of meatball sausage and sour pork. They were both good but the star is the Bun Bo Nam Bo.

Delicious and so simple. Staff are so fast with the service, and this place is popular with both locals and tourists. Make sure you mix the dish well before you eat it. The portion size for the normal beef dish is quite large with plenty of noodles.

Decent Vietnamese cuisine, price is good (especially for this location). Staff is fast, everything inside is neat and clean, what makes experience even more enjoyable. I only didn’t like fresh spring rolls that much - they had too much noodles and almost no veggies. Shrimps were thin and pork meat was mainly contained fat. Spicy seafood soup was good though!

Excellent bowl of semi-dry beef noodles. There’s a mix of of rice noodles, beef, vegetables, bean sprouts, shallots I think(?), and a whole lot of other stuff. Service is fast as most ingredients are already scooped into bowls. They just add the beef, soup, beansprouts and other toppings after. But what made this dish great is their secret recipe sauce that’s at the base - you can see it if you push the ingredients aside. Our food tour guide helped add some recommended soy sauce and squeezed some lime in. I’ve never tasted any other noodle dish like this. A must-try if you’re in Hanoi.

Was there at about 4pm. Pretty crowded. Shared table seems to be the norm. Although it's called 'Beef Salad', definitely not what you expect. Luke warm. Not chilled nor hot when served. The chopped peanuts and fried onions adds fragrant to the rice noodle. The greens are hidden below. May seem dry initially. Tendency to add sauces but i didnt. Not sure what's the transparent liquid. The red one looks like chilli. Please mix properly. Then it is easier and tastier to eat. The fruit (mango?) pickle adds some freshness to this bowl of 'beef salad'. Didnt try their pork roll. Enjoy!

Very good beef noodle salad. We got attracted by the number of Grab food pickup at this area and as such decided to try this place. The food was served efficiently and the staff were English friendly. Despite the high turnover rate, the place and tables were constantly kept clean which was a major concern for us.

Had the beef salad and herbal chicken soup. We were feeling adventurous so we ordered one of each main, but stick to the beef salad. The chicken soup was very bitter from the herbs and is only chicken in the soup so not much of a meal. The beef salad however was really tasty! They're cooking operation is so efficient, looks like a fast food chain.

Bun Bo Nam Bo is known for their fire grilled beef vermicelli. They also have a few other items on the menu, but you'll want to come here just for the beef vermicelli. Everything is cooked to order and comes out fairly quickly. Their sauce and veggies are all prepared and all you have to do is mix it up and eat. There are a few different ones on this street so make sure you go to the correct one. You'll know because there is always a crowd of people eating in the restaurant. There are a lot of copycats but only one of the original.

Great place to try Bún bò nam bộ. Their popularity doesn’t disappoint. It was good and well prepared. We had one order of Bún bò nam bộ for two and it was enough for dinner along with some fermented pork sticks (that we didn’t like so much). If you are looking for a place to try this typical dish from Hanoi, don’t hesitate and try it here.

This is a unique dish you can’t have anywhere else and it is to die for. First time I had it was a few years ago and just had it again after many years, one of the best things you can have in Vietnam. It will always be my first stop in Hanoi.

A place famous for its food but mainly catering to beef and pork lovers. The place serves Bun Bo Nam Bo, which is noodles served over fresh vegetables and served with meat, mainly beef. It's a hole in the wall restaurant but seems to be super famous. The only chicken options was the herbal chicken stew, which I had to order as my friend was tucking into the beef noodles. She enjoyed the beef noodles but the chicken stew was a bit too bitter. There was a strong flavour of ginseng making it feel like a medicine. I couldn't finish my chicken stew but the fresh watermelon juice helped a bit. Costing 205,000 VND or 10 sgd for two people which seems a steal.

If you want to try the typical beef noodle salad, this place got you covered. There's nothing much to do once you get a spot here, besides the Bun Bo there's only a couple of starters you can add to your order if you wish, and in a matter of seconds you're served with your bowl. Honestly, it was delicious, I enjoyed the food a lot. I would just point out that the tables are not cleaned/wiped when customers sit down or leave (but seems like it's pretty much like this in most traditional places in Vietnam), and there's a large trash bin just below every single table that, besides being a convenient option to quickly dispose of any used tissues, makes it feel a bit gross, as you'll be eating just a few inches away from someone else's trash. Anyhow, if you're travelling with an open mind and don't care about these details, I would still recommend this place for a quick bite.

Read another reviewer write they ate it twice and I thought no way. However after trying it I'm going to eat it tomorrow to end my trip as well! It's so delicious!! Menu is basic and simple with 4 things. A must try! We tried everything except the chicken dish. Excited to try it again tomorrow.

A very light and refreshing bowl of noodles. All the garnishes and ingredients came very well together! Service was also extremely efficient and food was served extremely fast, like clockwork. Been here twice, a great culinary experience both times!

Amazing food. Savoury and sweet with a mix of texture of the nuts and veggies crunch. The gravy is very delicious. Can skip the coconut dumplings. Nothing fanciful so save your calories for other food.

Excellent beef noodles with fried bread balls (almost like donuts, but less sweet—donut texture). Service was fast but industrial, as is food production. Not a place to relax but definitely an excellent, fast, fresh meal. Recommended!

Craving satisfied. Yummy nutty warm noodle salad. Expect the beef to be chewy like a jerky with nice bits of fat. I really loved the sautéed beansprouts and the pickled vegetable (I think it’s some sort of root), it made the lettuce leaves soak in a great flavor. I like mine with just kumquat juice, vinegar and fish sauce, which brought out the smokey flavor from the wok! Their spicy sauce is a bit too sweet for me, but it made a great dip for the steam pork roll.

Very clear place. Ordered all menus and great. Chicken soup was very similar Korean traditional chicken soup. Could feel my mom’s recipe. And the bread was really nice but about nem(?), it’s depended on the preference. A bit expensive 60K for one plate but okay for feeling a clean environment in old quarter.

Really good food, but I would prefer if they did vegetarian versions (for example with tofu). I ordered vegetarian dish and it was just without meat (also it was cheaper 50k), but I would rather have something instead meat in it.

They say it's the best beef noodle salad in Hanoi. And by that they mean the best in the world. And they might be right. 90% of the sales in the restaurant is from Bun Bo Nam Bo. The dish is super fresh and has the right mix of flavors. Must visit when in Hanoi.

Delicious noodle salad with beef. Amazing flavouring and so fresh - would highly recommend whoever visiting Hanoi to give it a try along with the other traditional dishes. The place is not big and service is quite slow as they cook in batches, but is really good in quality.

Bun Bo Nam Bo is one of these Vietnamese dishes that is particularly suited to Western sensibilities without needing to be altered or toned down. It's a typical Hanoi dish with very subtle flavours (Vietnamese from further south might just call it bland ;) and it's rarely found elsewhere in the country outside of tourist restaurants. Having said that, I do like this beef noodle salad a lot personally, and this place does a very good job with a generous amount of marinated meat and a nicely balanced sauce. It's 65k for a big bowl which is reasonable for a quality beef dish. Packed every day even in corona times, so it's definitely a local favourite.

One of my favorite local food in town. I have been customer of this store almost 20 years. The price has been tripled since then - this stores’ price is always higher than other local food restaurant yet we think it is worth the value. Nice bun, stirred fried beef, lots of veggie, some peanuts on top and to be served with sauce from fish sauce - made a very good combination. Must try in town.

Very good place to have noodles. The meat was tender and flavourful, and the sauce really mixed well with the noodles and vegetables. The one portion is good for one person, perfect size. The fermented pork rolls may not be for everyone, they're a bit sour but not very heavy in flavour. The fried pork wasn't anything special, but the coconut buns were very good. Would definitely come back again.

I discovered this restaurant through our tour guide. To my delight, it was truly amazing. Despite the fact that the place is not very large and the service is relatively slow due to batch cooking, the food was absolutely delicious. The beef noodle salad was a standout for me – a simple yet incredibly satisfying dish with amazing flavors and fresh ingredients. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Hanoi.

A flavourful bowl of vermicelli with lots of beef, vegetable and peanut flakes, very appetizing and couldn't stop eating after the first bite. Their fermented pork roll is delicious too! Highly recommended 👍

Our hotel recommended the place to us and it was totally worth trying. The staff are nice and very efficient, and the food.. the food is just awesome! It's a big serving of beef noodles, and the flavors of the ingredients blend well together.

This is the first time that I ate this kind of dish before. It delicious, warm & refreshing. Delicate subtle flavour. It’s a big bowl but I finished the whole bowl. A must visit indeed. Staff can speak a little english, enough for you to order & pay. Prompt serving. Definitely will come back before leaving Hanoi.

First meal upon arrival in Hanoi and definitely the comfort food you are looking for. The beef salad noodle is clean, refreshing and so flavorful with the warm broth, tender beef, crunchy peanut and fried onion toppings. Restaurant is clean, friendly and efficient. What a treat! 😋

A friend recommended Bach Phuong for bun bo and it was really good! This place serves only bun bo and a few Vietnamesen appetizers like steamed pork rolls. A bowl of bun bo is 75,000 dong and if you add extra meat, it's 100,000 dong which is only like 4 USD. Their staff don't speak English and the place doesn't really have a nice ambiance as it is a simple eatery.

  • 3/5 Lizz S. 8 months ago on Google
Beef noodle (vermicelli) that was just normal for me. The taste dominant is sweet and needs to add some chili if you like to eat spicy. Overall normal..

Love the food here. We ordered beef noodle salad (bun no nam bo) VND70k and herbal chicken stew VND70k. Seems like a place for tourists. It is an airconditioned place, great to keep away from the heat. Place is clean without tissues being thrown everywhere.

The best bun bo in town. Absolutely. Recommend to buy coconut dumplings at 7000vn each. Compliments your bowl of delicious heaven !! I will come back again. No doubt

  • 3/5 Kevin S. 9 months ago on Google
The food isn’t particularly great, I don’t really like the combination and the peanut doesn’t really gives it additional flavor. But maybe that’s just my preference However, the service 😅 I rarely talk bad about service but I just don’t like the server that night. Maybe he’s stressed because of busy hour idk, but the way he asks the order and also “punishing” some guests for being too loud just don’t sit well with me. Oh well, probably a bad day.

I'm a American who lived and worked in Vietnam for a while and this is one of my favorite places! First time I ate here I had 3 servings it was so good! Hopefully I'll be able to visit Vietnam again soon and I will not pass this restaurant up! Also, the sauce they make is amazing! I absolutely wish I could have a few cases shipped to the US cause I would go through it very fast!

  • 3/5 Donovan C. 1 year ago on Google
Was a bit underwhelmed. Flavors are fine but I guess I don’t understand this northern thing of taking delicious grilled meat and submerging it in hot liquid. I was hoping for something more like bun thit nuong, but this dish has no veg beyond some lettuce that gets soft in the hot broth. Don’t mean to be a hater, the meat is nicely flavored and the portion size was decent, but I was hoping for something a bit more…refreshing. They also really crank out the turnover pace here, and I was eager to move on when a couple was sat down across from me at the little table. It all felt a bit rushed.

The noodles with beef was tasty and refreshing with the herbs and vegetables. The noodle was prepared pretty quickly like most noodle dishes in Vietnam. The place was clean and comfortable. 65k for a bowl of noodles.

First meal after touch down. Many local folks also eat here so pricing shld be reasonable. Approx USD 3 for a beef pho dry. 5 star for a simple fresh tasty lunch! Cleared up all everything.

  • 5/5 Katie N. 1 year ago on Google
It is a very lovely dish and it’s cheap! We paid 65k/bowl but locals get them waaaaay cheaper - not going to complain about paying the tourist price because 1) the price was clearly displayed everywhere 2) it really was delicious and 3) the dining environment was clean and hygienic! I would recommend trying the steam pork rolls too - they’re like a small mince pork sausage wrapped in a leaf!

  • 5/5 Mazz K. 1 year ago on Google
Really tasty and fresh beef noodles, both the pork roll was good too. Really need to taste it yourself.

  • 5/5 Patrick P. 1 year ago on Google
Wonderful food. Bún bò nam bộ is a fresh alternative to either meaty bún chà or soupy búns. The bowl is filled with bún, lettuce, perilla, some other herbs, beef, bean sprouts, chopped peanuts, fried shallots, pickled sliced carrots and young/unripe papaya. There is a very small amount of soup on the bottom of the bowl so I mixed everything before slurping. In my opinion it is VERY GOOD. Very refreshing. The taste profile is light, savory, slightly acidic. I added the chili sauce that’s available on the table, and it made the bowl tasted even more awesome. This is definitely in my top 10 dishes to have in Hanoi.

  • 4/5 David T. 1 year ago on Google
Beef noodle salad is unique, quite flavourful though broth gravy is slightly on the sweeter side so it might be a bit of an acquired taste. Fermented pork roll has a taste that is left to be desired.

  • 5/5 Hà Nguyễn T. 3 years ago on Google
This "Bún bò" restaurant is my fav spot for having a quick, nutrition dinner. The place is spic and span and staffs are nice. The price is around VND100.000 ~ $5/person, and you'll have a delicious meal. From the city center - Hoan Kiem lake, it is only half mile/1km, you can easily visit the restaurant on foot.

  • 5/5 Shawn L. 1 year ago on Google
I was told this is the best beef noodles in Hanoi. I don't doubt them. I am not a beef eater, but so far, I am pleasantly surprised that the beef in Hanoi is well prepared. This has to be the best beef noodles I have ever tasted. I think they call is beef salad more than beef noodles. Its surely a healthy dish, and I think I might go back for a second bowl.

  • 5/5 Seah Min H. 11 months ago on Google
Looks simple bowl of noodles but so good!! It was empty when we arrived in the middle of afternoon so we weren't quite sure. Shortly after, groups of people started coming with large orders. Great place

Above average taste. The shop is famous for bun bo nam bo. The taste is not particularly good, but it’s not bad. The prices are aggressive. It’s definitely a restaurant for tourists. It’s a busy restaurant. The steamed pork roll serves as an appetizer. I wouldn’t say it’s a must-visit place in Hanoi. You can find great places that truly delivers on the streets.

Only cash accepted! Food is so delicious, arrives in 2-3 mins, prices are very cheap, and staff are super kind. We didn't know it is cash-only accepted restaurant, and cashier let us to leave restaurant for withdrawing cash, and that was brave trustful manner which I liked most. Thanks to him for understanding people, and giving best service to customers.

Quite a good place for tourists but not a restaurant to come in for daily meals. As a Hanoian, I must say the beef itself is good, fresh sweet, and soft. But the fish sauce kinda disappoints with the price tag. Not bad, but not my liking.

The main dish served here is bun bo nam bo (beef noodle salad) it was my first time trying this dish and it was great! The side sauce/salsa tasted great too. The nem chua ran (fried fermented pork roll) was nice, but not my taste. Definitely recommend!!
