Wow, this is really a "must visit" if visiting Hanoi. Free entry, you pass through security and then follow the one way route upto and through the Mausoleum. Make sure you dress appropriately or you won't be allowed in; no shorts and wear long sleeves. This building is austere and imposing, it commands your respect and reverence. Entering the chamber you must continue moving around the three sides on silence. His body is amazingly preserved and clearly viewed through the glass sided coffin. Four guards stand motionless in their pristine white uniforms at each corner of the sunken pit where the coffin resides, and another five guards attend the walkway and ensure you keep moving. No headwear allowed in the chamber and obviously no photos/video.

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is one of the most famous spots. It attracts a large number of local residents and international tourists. You can learn more about Ho Chi Minh's life and its significance in Vietnamese history here. Ho Chi Minh is regarded as a visionary leader who played a significant role in Vietnam's history. In May 1975, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum was inaugurated. Dress appropriately while visiting the Mausoleum. Avoid shorts, sleeveless dresses, etc. otherwise your entry might be denied. You need to pass through a security check before entering the Mausoleum. The visiting time is from 5 AM to 10 PM. There is no entry fee. In the backside of the mausoleum, there is a pagoda (One pillar pagoda)

Really cool free activity in Hanoi. The guards are all dressed in parade white, and the way to mausoleum itself is has beautiful gardens and views. Ho Chi Minh's body looks peaceful and well preserved. You must wear long pants and covered shoulders. There is a security checkpoint to get in where you must pass a metal detector. You can't take pictures inside the mausoleum.

Very much worth going with a guide who can walk you around and explain everything and the history ( one sided as it may be ). They put dress codes on people so watch out and if you look like a western tourist you are scrutinised heavily. You get a feel for different architectural styles from the yellow French buildings to the grey and very communist mausoleum structure built by the Russians. Our party chose not to see the dead body but I understand it can be very interesting. It certainly is a very interesting and effective price of propaganda and well worth a visit !

Although the entire "square" may be open during the hours listed on Google Maps, the entrance to the Mausoleum itself is only open until 10:30am or something like that. I went with a small group of fellow tourists and I think I was literally the last person they let in before they closed it. It is very similar to Lenin's Mausoleum in Moscow (gee, I wonder why?) in that once you enter there are guards everywhere and you better not stop walking, even as you pass the wax-looking figure in a glass case. Once you are through the mausoleum you can slow down and enjoy some of the other nearby sites like the single-pillar pagoda or Ho Chi Minh's stilt house.

Sadly despite researching this attraction on various websites there was no mention of it being closed for maintenance mid June until mid August 2022?. There were at least 4 guards outside the gate but none spoke enough English to inform the large group of tourists outside why they couldn’t go in. After much more googling I came across an article that explained the problem. There should be better signage and updating of the website. I am hoping to save someone else the trouble I had after walking a half hour there in the heat and humidity. I was very disappointed as it was one of the main attractions I wanted to visit in the city.

Nice way to start your morning in Hanoi. Come here early as it closes sharp @ 11:30 am. Have to leave your baggage at the entrance., it’s safe and free. They will give you a token. Long pants and decent attire a must. Whole place has a very solemn vibe and rightly so, please respect that by keeping your voice low and phone on silent. Entry is free and it’s a nice walk around a vast complex

Be there early in the morning to get in line to get in unfortunately I didn't know this but maybe tomorrow. Some facts wear t-shirt and trousers, they raise the flag in the morning around 0530 and lower at 2030 playing the national anthem. So would be worth seeing of course. The guards don't let you take photos of them but you can sneak it. They also change guards every hour so you get to see the goose march.

This is one of the most historic sites in Hanoi. The testing place of uncle Ho! Be careful cause they will not let women in if the knees and arms are not covered, so make sure you get a light jacket on top and long pants. This is only for woman, no idea why. Also to avoid huge crowds I recommend that you visit on a Friday morning that the museum is closed! Great experience overall!

When you take in the magnitude of what this 1 man means to these people, this is a very special place. Go between 07:00 and 10:30 as otherwise you cannot enter. Free but very strict, organised, no photos, you follow a path, there is no waiting inside but you will see his preserved body, almost glowing. The path takes you out to the stilt house and the pagoda is not far from the exit.

Wow, this place really is a must-visit. It’s a bit weird in that you can’t use your phone or even have your hands in your pockets. But it’s crazy to see Ho Chi Minh’s body up close. I’d recommend spending another hour exploring the rest of the grounds, including the museum. The luggage staff told me it closed at 11am so I had to rush back, even though I saw them still open at 11:30. So they made my experience worse for no reason.

The entrance/ process is confusing because the premises is so large. For the mausoleum tours you must park and enter at the corner of Ngoc Ha and Le Hong Phong. They will walk you through security and corral you through to the mausoleum. Well worth the visit. The area is very peaceful and calm and you can see Ho Chi Minh’s old cars, home, meeting places, and the stilt house. There are souvenir shops at the end and an additional museum and temple. Free admission, dress as if you’re visiting a temple. The tours are only 7:30-10:30am T-Th and weekends. The area is open in the evening for walking and exercising.

It is one of the most visited tourist spots in Hanoi. It is home to Vietnam's first founder shrine, pagoda, leader house, souvenir shops, and museum. Local entry is free but foreigners need to pay. Check the timing for the shrine visit and no shorts are allowed here. It is usually guarded by royal guards, so be careful in your action near the shrine. One time visit is recommended.

I didn’t really know what to make of this but I suppose that it’s something you have to do if you visit Hanoi. It’s only open early morning from about 7.30 to 10.30. It gets busy so get there early otherwise the queues get long. You can’t take photos and they put your camera into storage and give it back at the end. You eventually get to the mausoleum and file into the room and he’s laying there. It’s all a bit strange really. He looks like a wax work really. It’s over as soon as it’s started. Every year or so the body is sent to Russia for revamping so there are times the whole place is closed. Check before going.

Difficult to get into. Queue is very long and a lot of restrictions: no water, no chewing gum, don't keep hands at pockets. Quite cold into mausoleum. However, it had strong impression. Uncle Ho looks exactly as is depicted at every banknote. Entrance is free of charge. You have to pay only if you want to go to palace. Visiting mausoleum is free of charge.

This place is for locals to go and respect their great leader. The queues are peninsula long stretching for many kilometres but take this as part of the experience. You will be surrounded by crowds of locals and enjoy the journey inside as everyone's anticipation grows. The queue moves quickly and you will only be inside for a few moments. The building itself is a beautiful piece of brutalist architecture and this is set inside a large complex with a few other interesting buildings and trees where 'uncle Ho' spent his time working

Central square of Hanoi with mausoleum and parks around located. it takes 3-4 hours to walk around seeing sights. Several famous place are available by walk. The minus is that the lack of places to eat. Coffee and tea are terrible at nearby cafes. Food is critical for sensitive european stomack which used to quality of food. To drive by taxi here is also comfortable, don't use public wild transport.

After many times of visiting Hà Nội, I was finally able to visit the inside to see Ho Chi Minh himself. It is a very important place for the Vietnamese people who come to pay their respects to such a distinguished leader. Dress respectively and don’t bring any bags as these will not be allowed in. On days when visitation is allowed, the Mausoleum will be open 07:30-10:30, with queuing starting before this. Check in advance if it will be open to avoid disappointment. After visiting the Mausoleum, you should visit the Uncle Ho Stilt House and the various other sites in the square.

The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum that I visited is one of Vietnam's symbolic tourist attractions, and I was impressed by the beauty of the building and its decorations. Inside the building, I was able to learn about Ho Chi Minh's unknown facts along with the sanctity of the place. When entering the mausoleum, I was required to check my physical condition and was warned to pray quietly. In the surrounding park, you can reflect on your experience at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum while taking a break. However, it can get very hot and crowded with tourists during summer, so I recommend visiting on weekdays in the late afternoon. To understand the history and culture of Vietnam, please be sure to visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

Very interesting place to visit. A must see. The general area is very rich in history. Entry is free. Entry closes at 11.30am The entry procedure is well organised, and you have to leave your larger bags in a storage area (safe and reliable system), while your cameras specifically aren't allowed in the Mausoleum. You have to give them to a separate storage area, and they'll give it back to you once you exit. Remember to dress appropriately and show your respect.

Ho Chi Minh (disambiguation). Hồ Chí Minh (/hoʊ tʃiː mɪn/;[1] Vietnamese: [hò cǐ mīŋ̟] (listen), Saigon: [hò cǐ mɨ̄n]; Chữ Hán: 胡志明; 19 May 1890 – 2 September 1969[a]), born Nguyễn Sinh Cung,[4][b][6] also known as Nguyễn Tất Thành, Nguyễn Ái Quốc, Bác Hồ, or simply Bác ('Uncle', pronounced [ʔɓaːk̚˦˥]), was a Vietnamese revolutionary and politician. He served as Prime Minister of North Vietnam from 1945 to 1955 and President from 1945 until his death in 1969. Ideologically a Marxist–Leninist, he served as Chairman and First Secretary of the Workers'

A must see attraction in Hanoi. You're only allowed to enter the mausoleum at certain times of year, but the cultural significance is worth going inside the complex and walking around.

Was not able to get inside as I went on a weekend afternoon, and apparently it is already closed at the time of my visit. Nonetheless, I had a great time taking photos around the mausoleum as I love seeing good architecture. Hanoi has lots of that.

Great piece of history and well maintained. Entry is cheap, and while security here is high, they will guide you if you walk in the wrong spot and can also be friendly and say hello. Beautiful location worth the cheap entry

At the heart of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is the marble stone chamber where President Ho Chi Minh's body is enshrined. Very nice place. We took pictures here. I had the opportunity to see the parliament of Vietnam. Nice place to take photographs & very nice view during evening.

Exploring the Ho Chi Minh museum on my final day in Vietnam 🇻🇳 was truly captivating. Immersing myself in the rich history of Vietnam added depth to my travel experience. Highly recommend checking it out for a glimpse into the country's fascinating past.

Ho Chi Minh is a hero, a man who defended Vietnam from western powers and colonization. He united Vietnam and because of his contributions and legacy to the people he is rightfully memorialized here in Hanoi. The flag ceremony is worth the wait, we watched it at 9 p.m. The guards were very friendly and helpful in guiding us. This memorial is probably one of the most beautiful modern buildings I've seen in Vietnam. The design and attention to detail represents Ho Chi Minhs legacy very good. RIP great leader.

good event to check-off the list. i wanted to see the body of the comrade. the lines are usually long, but they go fast, thanks to the military guard that give you an experience of communist discipline. advisable to go early; we went around 9.30 am, so better prepare if you plan to also check out the museum. they’ve a break from 11-2 pm, and it closes at 4 pm. not sure of the mausoleum timings though. but the premise has many artifacts related to ho chi minh’s life. has loads of eating and shopping opportunities.

Great place to visit. It is an important and historical landmark in Vietnam. Sleeveless tops are not allowed so make sure you bring a jacket or shawl to cover your shoulders and arms. Too bad we went on a Friday as the museum was closed. Nonetheless, it was still a must place to see.

    - Completely dedicated to the hero of nation: Ho Chi Minh. - Entire Mausoleum as well as adjoined museum reflects his journey from pre independence to that of existing state of country. - The museum also reflects the growth of communism throughout the era of Indochina region. - Suggest taking a guide for better understanding of various monuments and u said tales of Vietnam war and about other war heroes.

Its the place of importance for all Vietnamese. Its place where Vietnam leader Ho Chi Minh (Uncle Ho) body is on display. You can see change of guard every hour. Clothing Restrictions kindly check before you go. Always crowded with Local and Tourists.

Definitely a landmark in Hanoi that is by far worth a visit; Expect this to take most if not an entire day; it can get extremely busy. I would suggest going early as the line for entry can get very long and access is limited. When I was there, photos were prohibited inside

It was close when I was there. My friend/guide did not check the hours so we were not able to see his preserved body. No wonder there's not so many tourist on the grounds. Weather was humid and very hot. It's another reason to go back to Hanoi. Surroundings are clean and lots of securities. Nice facade.

The mausoleum of the founder of modern Vietnam is a 'must visit' place in Hanoi. The architecture of mausoleum is similar to that of the Mao's mausoleum in Beijing. There are guards in mausoleum - mind it and behave.

A place where uncle Ho sleep forever. He was a great man inside the heart of every Vietnamese. Beware of visiting time, it start from 8am to 11am. Your have to queue as early as possible to enter the mausoleum. We have been waiting almost 2.5hours.

Respectable and peaceful place. Tip: 1. Due to luggage limitations, no food, water, drink, or tumbler No camera is included. Go pro - Do not bring that stuff with you. Otherwise, you must wait 20 minutes in a crowded and chaotic line in hot weather and poor logistical conditions to collect it. Experience: After visiting, I had to wait 15 minutes to take my gopro back, then walk 10 minutes back to the entrance gate to take my tumbler - The officer or local people may not know which gate is open. We hardly understood it closed today. 30 minutes later, I saw they were open for guests. Experience: Check the opening time on Google and be patient to observe what is going on by yourself.

The Mausoleum is an impressive display with beautifully kept gardens, but the museum has poor opening times and there lacks an overall reading or Audio experience to learn about him. I’d recommend visiting if you’re in Hanoi for a few days. If you’re keen to learn, it’s best you go with a guide There is a strict dress code, otherwise security won’t let you in. Cover shoulders and past the knees

I would say this is one of the highlights of my trip as I get to see the preserved body of Ho Chi Minh. It was a quick walk inside but you can feel the solemnity and respect the locals give to their leader. You would need to come early as this place closes at 11:00am. Security is very tight and you cannot take pictures which is totally understandable.

You can visit the complex during daylight except Mon and Fri due to maintainance. But if you want to go inside, please arrive in the morning before 10:30, make a long queue especially in holidays. If you go later or afternoon, dont worry, still alot of things to do. The recommended journey: after security checkpoint => Ba Dinh square (front of Mausoleum) => check point to Ho Chi Minh wooden house => exit to back of Mausoleum => one-pillar pagoda => Ho Chi Minh Museum => start security gate

If you have time free than you can spend it for a visit. Waiting time might be long and might be hot on the huge square in front of the mausoleum. No beverages allowed in the area no mobile or camera for taking photos inside. Only few seconds to see Ho Chi Minh in the glass sarkopharg.

The only public site in North Vietnam with quite a security presence and strict protocols to be followed till one exits the premises, the HCM Mausoleum as the site name suggests is where the body of the founder rests. One is required to be on apposite habiliments, and items like water bottles are not allowed and will have to be dropped at the entry point. One will walk on the red-coloured carpet, go around the room under the monitoring of the site staff, and will exit the premises. The whole thing takes less than 15 mins.

I did not get to meet Mr. Ho Chi Minh, but I did get a taste of the sacred air. Tourists who come here, especially white people, should respect him and Vietnam. This is a sacred place, it is normal to dress well and cover your tattoos. I am Japanese and I respect him and his achievements. He saved Vietnam from the riffraff who have no respect for other cultures like you.

I was really surprised by how interesting this visit was. I was amazed by the state of the body and really impressed with how good of a condition it was in for being 54 years since his death. We went on the audio self guided walking tour of the palace and grounds and only wish we could have gone inside the space.
