Rightly said a la gare as it is in close proximity to the train station not sure if it's a reliable means of transport. Had to use cab apps at all times. French brasserie is excellent offering international cuisine. Rooms are small. No pool. Tiny gym. Le club accor is useful . Great attentive service. Mind you the terms and conditions

Rooms are suitable for 2. No enough plugs in the room. Didn’t like the idea of the glass wall of the bathroom. No cleaning water for the toilet similar to the one in the reception. My friend saw a rat late at night running in the reception. Receptionist were polite and door man were helpful. Not in the old quarter but not that far.

The hotel is in the heart of the old quarter. It’s accessible to most of the tourist spot around the area. The food was good and the room is big and bed is very comfortable. I love what they normally have in their buffet breakfast. Had a really good time staying here. Definitely will be back.

Always happy to come back here. Mercure is ideally located for most business trips, and very close to the old quarter and it’s restaurants as well. Great value for money. Windows are well soundproofed, can’t hear the traffic.

Located in a very convenient location, Mercure is a very interesting destination with cozy space, very good service. I was particularly impressed with the restaurant's service. Restaurant staffs are very well-trained, friendly, enthusiastic, always taking good care of small things. Ms. Hang did a great job. Kudos the team!

Short stay here. Location is near Hanoi train station, but walkable to old town. Breakfast is nice. Hotel going green with wooden room key. Behind the hotel there is the famous Vietnamese restaurant Quang An Ngon selling Vietnamese street food.

Very clean rooms in a French inspired, regal looking building. Rooms were well furnished, cozy, and the rooms on the higher floor offer a nice view of Hanoi. Conveniently located within walking distance to Hanoi station, but it’s outside of the Old Quarter. I was initially assigned a room on the 2nd floor (which had a bad window view looking into someone’s backyard!). I made it known to the reception that I would’ve preferred a room on the higher floors. Unfortunately, there weren’t any other rooms available. On the 3rd day, they took the initiative to inform me there was a room available on the 8th floor (the second highest floor) and asked if I was still keen to switch, which I did. Kudos to the team! Staff spoke English reasonably well and were also helpful to help call an airport taxi, and helped to liaise with the tour company for a day trip I booked. No comments on dining but prices are steep as expected of hotels. International food menu available. Gym is small with limited equipment. Avoid the rooms on the second floor as there are events held in the function room there occasionally and it can get noisy. Recommended for the comfortable rooms and polite staff.

Very good hotel. Friendly staff, great breakfast with lots of fresh fruits. Great for business trips. Short way to the old Town of Hanoi. Will be back again.

Great value hotel. Friendly service from your arrival until departure. However, no extra check in counter for ALL member. WiFi is available at good speed. Laundry service is available which can be useful for business traveller. Bed is comfortable. Room temperature is perfect. No smart tv in my room but it’s totally OK. Bathroom is rather small.

Outstanding and very helpful staff... Always smiling and pleasant and made our stay at the hotel memorable and comfortable. I stayed at the deluxe room which was both spacious, cool and comfortable. Location is great too within a 15 minute walk to most of the local hot spots.. great place to stay if on vacation in Hanoi....a very special thanks to the front office manager, Hang for keeping things running smoothly for us and everyone else here! Thank you Hang!

Very small bathroom. Door touches lavatory. Don’t have water faucet in it, just tissue. Bed was comfortable though. Breakfast spread has less variety. Hotel is far from old quarters where all the action is. Staff was courteous and polite except receptionist. Verdict: Not coming again and do not recommend.

Rooms and facilities are smaller compared to their other locations in Vietnam (which makes sense considering they're located in Hanoi). However, rooms were reasonable and clean. Amenities were good and everything was topped up everyday. (It is curious that they'll put signs up in the rooms asking clients to be more conscientious of laundering as a Green Initiative, but then take any towels that look used even if you put the sign up to not take it.) Rooms were mostly quiet from the outside, but sound does travel indoors (particularly from the hallways into the rooms). Bathrooms are small, but sufficient. Counterspace is sparse but manageable. Lighting in the bathroom was horrendous. Difficult to see clearly if you like to apply your skincare/makeup in the bathroom. Gym is small but serves its purpose. Staff were often seen busy, but helpful when asked. English was OK for the most part, but there were moments of language barrier between staff and clients when asking for things beyond the typical. Location was good! Away from the busier parts of Hanoi (so a little quieter esp at night) but still reasonably close to tourist sites. Overall, a good and reliable choice to stay if you're in Hanoi.

4 star hotel with 5 star staff. Comprehensive breakfast, great espresso coffee, and good dining menu. Rooms very quiet, and very close to the railway station.

  • 5/5 Vũ Phương A. 11 months ago on Google
Staff are very nice, helpful and they made me feel confortable. The room is clean. Interestingly, the location of the hotel is quite near many tourist attractions in Ha Noi. Therefore, it's easy for me to visit and explore new things from that city.

Very pleasant stay. The breakfast is well appointed and fod tasted great. Hotel staff very courteous too. Room attendants were very keen on cleaning our room even if we didn’t ask for it, and it’s well appreciated.

We really like that area: easy access to the old French quarters, and a bit less touristy. Staff was very helpful, especially Chung. Room was quite spacious and they are moving closer to being truly on the side of sustainability.

I was not staying there. It was destiny. A month ago, we was trying to do the paperwork for thai visa. My husband and I everyday going to the Thai Embassy sometimes twice or three times per day, and everytime was a different requirement. We found a computer at the Mercure Hotel, and we spend long periods of time in that computer buying flights, booking hotels in thailand, dealing with our bank in Colombia who block all our accounts, wow... many frustrating situations, and I had an anxiety crisis. The personal in the lobby was so NICE, GENEROSITY, HELPFUL. When I was broken, crying, the simply gesture of give me some kleenex and a glass of water, and feel the support and the answer "how can help you?" says a lot of the quality of the people who work at the MERCURE HANOI HOTEL. So, THANKS SO MUCH!!!! We will never forget the support at that moments. Just a glass of water and a great attitude, can change the moment.

The hotel lies in the city center and all attractions are in walking distance. We had Room 412 for a week. It was good equipped, well maintained and Staff cleaned without complain. The view from the window was to a backyard. - Breakfast Variety is ok. But if a breakfast is offered to start at 6.00, it should be ready prepared at 06.00 - specially if you are on a business travel. - Fitness room small for max. 2 Person but ok - IF! an urgent maintenance at the machines is made. Everything is rattling and shaking.

The room is ok. The service is also good. All staffs are very helpfull and nice. The breakfast buffet is ok but not variety. Trying some local restaurants nearby instead is my suggestion

Do not go!! The worst experience I ever had in a hotel. Terrible service, my colleague made a reservation and agreed on a price per nigth (inclusive breakfast). When I arrived at the hotel I needed to pay an additional 300.000 VND to arrange breakfast for my partner. Even though this felt strange, we accepted to pay the extra charge. At check out they changed (increased) the room fee that we agreed upon before and dit not follow the price they previously confirmed on email (I could show the confirmation). The cooperation from their reception staff was terrible. It took them more then 30 minutes and many phone calls with their booking office to admite they made a mistake. After returning later to pick up our luggage the case started all over again.. terrible experience. Never returning ever again!!

The service has been great and an outstanding performance. Linh, Minh and Kitchen team have been one of the kindest people I've met on Vietnam.

  • 4/5 Roger N. 11 months ago on Google
The room was adequate. I had trouble with the room safe, but staff came to my rescue. We ate at the hotel, because the surrounding area is very busy and walking is difficult, with many motorbikes parked on the sidewalks. The restaurant menu was was simple and the food decent.

Mercure Hanoi La Gare exceeded all my expectations! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The modern rooms were a delight, offering the perfect retreat after a day of exploring. The breakfast spread was delicious, providing a great start to each day. Plus, the hotel's prime location near the central railway station made sightseeing a breeze. Highly recommended!

The hotel is really old. Rooms are small. Had to change a room i was offered to another one since a conditioner did not work properly. Do not think it is worth the money it costs. Renovation is needed.

My family revisited this hotel and we were delighted by the exceptional services provided. Looks like the senior management is very conscious and serious about making their guests feel at home and comfortable. From check-in till check-out, we have been delighted with the services from managers, receptionists, bellhops, chambermaids and restaurant waiting staff. My FIL n MIL also checked in and since they were unsure about the environment, the staff had been most helpful in guiding them. Miss Hang, the FnB manager, despite being very busy at the moment, even helped to guide them to the breakfast spread and helped them to have a good breakfast. On their early morning check-out Miss Hang spotted them by chance and even packed some breakfast for them to eat on their way home. We were greatly touched by the super great services provided and thankful that they were well taken care of. The location is also great, just across the rail station, and convenient for all dining and travelling as it is not deep in Old Quarter where traffic could be horrendous. Overall, a superb small but cosy hotel for all level of guests to enjoy the hospitality and great services. Thank you to the Management and Staff of Mecure for a great stay.

Stay & service was great! I felt the bathroom a little small! There wasn’t much place to keep the amenities. Breakfast was a challenge for vegetarians and for someone who prefers Halal food.

A hotel in a good location, within walking distances from major city attractions. The room I had was quiet, spacious and clean (though the bathroom was a bit small). Breakfast buffet, though not big, was delicious—I especially loved the pho and egg stand. All staff members speak fluent English and provide kind and polite services with smiles. I was especially impressed by Dat and Minh, who responded efficiently to my inquiries and rendered active helps with contacting the airlines for retrieving my lost luggage. I couldn’t thank them more. So, I surely will consider coming back next time I travel to Hanoi.

Poor customer service and very helpless staff at the front desk! This would be my last stay here, I guess. When checking in 2 days ago, the staff asked me to check in at 2:00 pm due to fully booked day that day and they could not upgrade to higher level of the room. But, in the afternoon when coming back, they informed me that someone had suddenly cancelled last minute and they could upgrade me to 1 tier higher. It seemed satisfactory. Just tonight, I requested for late check out and the staff without looking at the system, informed immediaty that I cannot because they will be fully booked for tomorrow. So unprofessional and unhospitable manner! All in all, the very first time i have the feeling The Platinum Member benefits suck! Soon to say good bye, I suppose!

Overall a good hotel. Clean, nice design, great staff, good breakfast, fantastic location, reasonably priced. The only negative is that despite being an Accor gold member I did not receive a room upgrade even though there were plenty of empty rooms of a higher level available. I usually have pretty good luck with upgrades at Mercure hotels and the other Accor hotels in Hanoi so this was a real disappointment. If you have Gold or Platinum status with Accor then I'd probably recommend spending a little bit more to stay at the Pullman (where I've always been upgraded), but if not then for sure this hotel is a fantastic place to stay!

Absolutely superb hotel, close to Hanoi Train Station and the Thai Embassy. The quality of everything is top-notch. I thought the Vietnamese were incapable of politeness, but somehow they've all got the quality here - lovely, friendly, attentive, and they seem happy and proud of their work. The food is delicious and fresh. Even if you're not a guest, I highly recommend the breakfast buffet, with its hugely varied selection of delights. Everything is clean and neat. It's popular but not too busy. People are quiet! Absolute luxury. I wish I had the money to stay here, but, for a treat, it's a great place for a meal and an escape from the street. The manager/s and owner should be very proud. They've achieved something brilliant here.

Very comfortable in the room. The room is not too big. It’s quite clean and have a nice position of furniture. There is no smoking smells in the room. There are a lot of menu for breakfast and get beverage coupons in the morning.

This is a compact hotel that is staffed by very well trained n motivated staff. U felt welcomed the moment u step into the hotel. Check in well executed. Rooms were always cleaned n well maintained. Food quality relatively high n breakfast is sufficient to start the day. What distinguished this hotel from others is the professionalism of the staff at all level. Positive to engage in conversation n a cheerful outlook that helps u feel at home. Checking out is efficiently done. U will somehow miss the hotel as you drove off. A very pleasant experience. Well done Mecure Hanoi.

Great location and wonderful staff. We had a very heartily welcome by Thuy the assistant front office manager and also would like to highlight the male receptionist that handled our check out. Unfortunately we didn't catch his name, but he assisting us with ordering a taxi and even fought for us till the last second to get the price that was agreed on before. Thanks a lot for your efforts!! The hotel is well situated within walking distance to street food, the lake and the beer street. Also a big advantage is the location next to the train station. Even though we didn't travel by train, it was very helpful to us since telling the taxi driver "Ga Hà Noi" will get you home, since only very few of them speak English. The rooms are very good soundproofed, I can't recall that we heard any noise. Our room was located on the highest non smoking floor and was very spacious, well equipped and maintained and also very clean. Thank you Team of the Mercure Hanoi La Gare - keep up the great spirit!! Highly recommended

This hotel was a truly excellent place to stay when visiting Hanoi. Not only is it incredibly well located, approx 10 minute taxi from all the major tourist attractions (Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Citadel, Military Museum etc), the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. In particular, Ms Nga, Mr Tan and Ms Nhung were very patient and accommodating. They helped us multiple times in booking visits and advising us on sites to visit. The restaurant at this hotel is amazing, the food is delicious and the breakfast staff in particular are always on hand to take orders and serve us with a smile on their face. 10/10 recommend, could not have had a better experience!

What I'm impressed the most is the soundproofing of the windows despite being literally beside the busy streets, the room is completely quiet! I also love the comfortable mattress and the overall vibe in the room. Sure the rooms are a bit small but this location is really convenient to all the eateries and attractions. I'm very satisfied with all the hotel employees from the doorman to the housekeepers. Overall i would definitely come here again on my next trip to Hanoi! Keep up the standards!

Hotel is nice and cozy. Hotel staffs are professional and very responsive. However there are few things that the hotel needs to change the following aspects: a. Please change the slippers provided in the room. Which is very slippery. b. Remove single use of plastic in the room for example water bottles. c. The room is small and also the toilets and bathroom. If possible chage the door to sliding type and please provide at least a curtain separator between bathroom and toilet. d. The complementary water provided in the room is really not sufficient. At least plz provide a litre of water. e. I couldn't able to use power shocket provided near to bed. Please change the orientation at least so that 3 pin plug socket can be used. f. Hotel was not accepting any foreign currency which made us a very trouble to pay the bill. At least please open for USD exchange or direct payament.

We had a pleasant stay at the hotel after many stays over the years. The staff are always attentive and friendly providing very good services right from the top executive, the GM, the front office staff to F&B staff. Uyen at the F&B department is a standout with her helpful attitude. Thank you all and hope to be back in the future.

Had a short but enjoyable stay here during my cross country tour. Being close to the train station meant everything here is train-themed, with photos of them literally at every corner on every floor! Rooms are small but cozy (prices are cheaper during the weekends, how strange!), a reasonably priced restaurant that fits my preferences, plus busy but attentive and helpful front office staff members (I attached a photo of the restaurant they recommended to be below). If there is any downside then the location is a bit far from the beer street and the lake, but the train street is just two blocks away and traffic is usually very forgiving. Overall a thumbs up recommendation for those needing a hub to explore Hanoi from!
