I visited the hotel 3 times. One is a family is trip. Other two are company trips. What I noticed during the trips was staff is not well--trained according to 5 star standards. Specially in co-operate events we could see less number of staff members to handle restaurant chaos. Not kid friendly. For the whole restaurant area there were only 2 high chairs. I faced that issue even in my private tour also. Rooms were luxurious. Beautiful surroundings. But We were disturbed by a religious festival in the temple next to the hotel. We could not access beach those days because of massive crowd there. Better to avoid religious season when you book.

The hotel was very elegant and high-tech. But the staff was very incompetent from the room allocation to serving. They should get a proper training. They had the lowest food varieties I've seen in a 5 star hotel. It felt more like a budget wedding buffet. The rooms were very good and had all the amenities. So overall a mixed experience for me.

We spent a weekend there. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Breakfast had quite a few options and all tasted good. Room was neat and tidy. Staff were friendly. But I feel the staff should be trained more when it comes to a 5-star hotel. There is a separate beach entrance it was best place to be. Highly recommended for a stay.

The recent price is 7600/= per person for the day out. Staff Hospitality is awesome and friendly. Lunch Buffet food is good but does not have many varieties compared to Colombo's 5-star hotel buffets. veg/non-veg items are not marked as per standards. For a vegetarian, you have only a few foods to eat compared to a non-veg person which is hotel competitors taking advantage of buffets. reaching the hotel from the main road and Unawatuna railway station is the difficult one. Most threewheels do not agree to drive to the hotel from the main road due to distance. The hotel should implement a solution for this as a ride from the main road and drop off to the main road, it will help people to reach easily and stand out from the hotel's competitors. Good decent hotel for a family and playful babies to have facilities to play.

Well built resort. Room amenities are of top quality. Extensive wooden interior including wooden craved elephants may have caused severe destruction to the environment. Service standards does not represent the quality of the property.

One of the top hotels that i recommend for Foreigners as well as Locals. Nice location with a beautiful sea view, cozy rooms, delicious food and great service. One of the biggest hotels in the area. The interior is done with a more colonial modern aesthetic. You can see a lot of wood based interior elements here. The beach side pool and the bar has a unique design from what we see in Colombo. The roof top and the infinite pool has a stunning view that gives a tropical vibe when u go there.

Highly recommend for the families with kids. Kids have special kids area and activity rooms as well. Staff is friendly and the rooms are up to the standard. Tasty food and had a good variety of food for the buffet. Nice atmosphere ❤️ had a nice experience in infinity pool, overall pleasant stay.

We went for a day out during the first weekend of 2024. Situated in a prime location. Nice atmosphere and nice concept design. However, the service is extremely poor. The staff seems to be consists of young people who are just finished school. It is very clear that they have received minimal or zero training on how to treat guests. They seem to lack the basic courtesy on how to direct guests and how to answer a basic question politely. We were very rudely turned back from accessing the lunch buffet despite the fact that we made the reservation well ahead for the day out package and showed up at the restaurant around noon. The restaurant manager very impolitely informed us they give priority to in house guests and kept us waiting for another two hours until 2pm to get the lunch. The professionalism was clearly lacking form pool staff to the managers. Very rudely questioning local guests where they are going just like they are intruders. Staff has a very clear discrimination policy against local guests when compared to white skinned foreigners. It was very apparent from the tone that they addressed locals Vs foreigners. I can keep on going about the rude, racist impolite staff but above cases are more than enough to describe the horrible service experience we had.

Visited Unawatuna beach after a long time and I'm glad it happened because of Araliya hotel. Got there because of an offer published by the hotel. This hotel is the largest hotel in Unawatuna. Located in such a nice place. This hotel has all the facilities such as spas, kids play areas, a kids club, bars and restaurants, a massive swimming pool and a beautiful gardens. We actually didn't stay overnight. Therefore cannot say anything about rooms. But I hope they are also great. My two kids of course had a great time from morning to evening at swimming pool, bouncing castle and beach. The lunch was great. It has a vast selection. Overall... Great value for money!

Araliya is masterpiece which resides majestically in Unawatuna beach. The room was clean and had a modern touch. The view from the room was amazing. There’s a huge pool in front of the clubhouse and another on the rooftop which they call infinity pool. If you’re going for one night it’s better to go to the beach early around 3pm and then head back to the infinity pool to witness a picturesque sunset. There were some negatives. We weren’t informed about the interlock which switches off air conditioning when the rear door is opened. There are only 13A socket outlets which wouldn’t fit most of the mobile phone chargers. However USB sockets are available but not sure about the current value. The buffet had a variety of food items but there were less choices for deserts. Food was moderately tasty.

We had a beautiful week in Araliya Unawatuna! The staff were friendly and kind; the room was wonderful as was the view of the sea; the sea itself was lovely and we already dream of going back. Other great points of this property: The infinity pool on the top floor was long and very fit for actual swimming, not "just" beautiful :) I liked that the beach is not private; the hotel still has a private sector you can use behind a 'do not cross' line with security, but this way the public can still use the beach as (IMHO) it should be.

Experienced their weekend lunch buffet at Araliya Unawatuna. The hotel looks really elegant and has a premium look in terms of look wise. This buffet had limited number of cuisines choices in comparison to the other regional 5 star buffets. However the choices were delicious and we liked it. The buffet seemed too much staffed. It was observed there were too many chefs in the buffet floors roaming around while limited number of stewards were available for table serving on attending finished dishes. The price tag for the buffet was high. It would be nice if they could offer few more cuisines like Thai and Japanese choices for the buffet. Surrounding was good and the only negative was the air conditioning was too cold.

I just wanted to say this place is worst place to stay for your vacation. I went there with my friends from America but the staff are so rude, they don't know how to treat people, they're not nice and they didn't give welcome drink or something at 1st, poor staffs. They give us some band and always asking like are you staying here and asking for the band. Special they're not treating Sri Lankans well. You can go there if you're white. Foods and juice also not good normal shops are better than this place. Waste of money, not worth for the money don't go not recommend

I had a great experience with this hotel for the day out. The package they are giving is money worth while. The buffet lunch had more than 100 variations with country specific food corners. There are a lot of activities including a swimming pool for this package. I can recommend this place to anyone who thinks they have a day out plan. I can't rate the room's condition because this package does not include rooms.

We went as a family of 8 Parents children adults. Pros: The staff is very helpful The rooms are great and i think most of them have a super view. The breakfast is a massive spread with good options for the vegetarian palette. The proximity to the beach and restaurants is excellent, everything is nearby! They also have beach access with chairs etc,! The sea activities are on the same beach so you don't go far Cons: The pool is too crowded. They have a pool on the upper floors but that is exclusive Nothing much else. An overall great experience!

If you’re staying in Unawatuna, this hotel is the place to be. They offer some gorgeous rooms with great ocean/beach views for extremely reasonable prices. The hotel comes with breakfast buffet included and can be upgraded to also include lunch and dinner. On site restaurants are quite good and the proximity to the beach is perfect. The pool is very nice and there are beach side chairs and bars with plenty of availability for all guests. Definitely not a better hotel in the whole area than this one

Myself and 8 of my friends visited this place and enjoyed a great weekend here. Food was amazing and the receptionist guy was super cool and friendly. He even called us during the stay and asked how was our stay and if we are required of anything else. Amazing experience, I recommend this to friends, family and especially for couples. All the rooms got the beautiful beach view. 10/10 happy customer rating..

We had a really amazing memorable nights there. I really love the surroundings, place, location, and rooms. Especially the vibes are really cool. But the management and the staff are not much prepared and trained compared to other 5-star hotels. I would give a 5-star rating but the service was not so good there. And make sure you don't book the hotel for day outs if there are events near the beach. Then of course you will not be able to access the beach.

The staff were friendly and active. The rooms were clean and very hygienic also had a breathtaking view of the sea. They had buffet for all three meals which had a variety of food items, tasted good as well. Overall me and my friends had a great time

We had a beautiful stay over there! Everything is perfectly done. The room and the bathroom, the buffet, pool and the infinity, beach experience and speacilay the staff and the chefs are so polite and friendly. Amazed by their warm hospitality even to us locals. Of course would visit again. Have been to Unawatuna before but loved it so much this time. Thank you very much group Araliya for offering us a lovely stay!

We came for a weekend vacation with family. First of all, the staff was very friendly and attended to our needs very quickly. It had comfortable rooms with a beautiful sea view and variety of delicious food. A beautiful environment has been created in the hotel grounds as well as in the hotel and there is a separate play area for children. A place where you can relax your mind.

Me and my wife had a wonderful experience. The food was amazing. Landscape is beautiful. A special shout to the ANIMATORS TEAM for making our stay so much more enjoyable. I think Araliya Beach resort is a really good hotel. I attended a wedding there very recently. The hotel was enormous, the staff was very friendly and courteous. I think the hotel itself had a lot to offer. The food was quite tasty, the hall i was in was beautiful. The hall overlooked the sea and the sight was breathtaking. There was ample parking and i had a really good experience and i highly recommend this establishment to anyone in the vicinity of Unawatuna. I fo have to mention that the road leading to the hotel is not ideal and is very narrow in some areas, but the hotel can't be blamed for that.

Hotel is located near beach on a beautiful location and the garden areas are simply gorgeous. Roof top viewpoint is out of words. Wooden work everywhere and feels like too much at many places. Went there for lunch buffet at Saffron restaurant and it was a big let down. Firstly restaurant is not well maintained the tables are wobbly. Cutlery are not cleaned properly and also same with chairs and tables. Staff is not supportive at all and service is simply terrible. Biggest disappointment is the food. There weren't a variety of food items and were also not very appetizing. Add to that nobody seemed to care about health regulations during a pandemic period. Lots of areas to be improved well not worth the price.

The staff was very warm and welcome. The normal pool was good but the infinity pool was crowded most of the time. Food was good but could add more to the buffet. Elevators took a lot time to get to the floor. Rooms were in amazing condition and the views from the balcony is beautiful. Overall the experience was good.

A bit of a disappointing experience here. The hotel has a really beautiful view of the southern beach of the island. Rooms were spacious and they have 2 restaurants as main restaurants. Apart from that all modern hotel facilities are there. However during weekends and long holidays the hotel seems to be over crowded. Restaurant staff was very busy so our starter plates were not removed until dessert. Nothing special about food, and completely not worth the high price you pay for.

Spent one night at this hotel. Too much crowded. Zero (0) covid preventive methods. The best food you can have here is COVID. Lots of varieties at the buffet including alpha, beta, gamma, delta, …, OMICRON, etc.

Wonderful location with an amazing view of the ocean. Rooms were very large and very clean with wonderful amenities. We checked in during a crowded period but in spite of that the service was EXCELLENT from every member of the team
