Small, but intriguing art museum. Talented works of art, I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Friendly staff, they offer military, student, and even EBT discounts!!! Regular admission is $7. Super clean, relaxing and nice!

Small but very reasonably priced art museum. Exhibits were beautiful wish they had a bit more of a gift selection.

What an amazing place! We are here for the 1st time on a school trip. The morning presentations were divided into to parts for the elementary children (k-2/3-5)& was at a level that was easily understood by them without treating them as if they were unintelligent. My son (7) thoroughly enjoyed the creative actitivty & said he even liked learning about the artist & seeing the other paintings. My daughter (11) attended the afternoon (6-12) presentation & said that it wasn't as boring as she thought it would be. The also did a creative actitivty which she loved and said the presentation on the pictures was very interesting & informative. With the muesum changing exhibits every 12 week there are multiple times each year you could visit & do new things. We enjoyed this trip a lot & plan to become members to enjoy it even more. Some of the perks are AWESOME.

Very small but entertaining museum. The entrance fees are very low, especially when you're a student. The majority of the artworks displayed are part of the temporary exhibit, which was interesting when I went there in March 2017. There are also some workshops for children in order to promote culture, which is a very nice initiative. No restaurant or cafeteria if I remember correctly.

Central PA is lucky to have this museum. The recent "In Nature's Studio" exhibit was beautiful and well-curated. I really enjoyed the time I spent with the paintings. The staff were kind and helpful while still giving me space to enjoy the art. Thanks and keep up the great work.

There are essentially four exhibit areas. Very well done. Perfect additional stop if you're headed to Midtown. Take advantage of the free parking in back. I didn't realize it was there until I saw the sign on the front door.

Wonderful space. Small art museum. Eclectic collection. Artists split among locals -- particular genres and multimedia -- and from around the world. The old York and Lock Co. vault in, yep, the Vault Gallery, is a work of art itself. Affordable. Educators', senior and military discount.

A small two story museum that has carefully curated collections. The "Making Your Mark" exhibition is a great educational experience that put together different techniques used in modern painting practices. Very informative and easy to understand for general public. The hands-on area provides simple tools and essential materials so that visitors could put their thoughts into a quick scratch. There was a workshop session going on but didn't have a chance to signup for a short stay in town.

I did not like the art musuem. It was too small and the paintings were uninspiring. It was a disappointment.

Great time, very cheap admission especially since I'm a student. Very impressive collection of both ancient and modern art, displayed very well. Very interesting use of the old bank building to creat a unique artistic space! Overall a very nice and inviting experience, and the staff was incredible and fun to talk to

What an astronomical waste of time. Yes, there were a few interesting pieces but most of my time there was spent on me laughing at what someone considers “art”. • A piece of string hanging from the ceiling (I kid you not). • The window looking outside (yes, somebody is taking credit for this masterpiece) • A birthday candle (like something you would by from the dollar store). I understand that art is subjective but paying an admission fee to see these laughable concepts was a travesty. If this is art, I’m Pablo Picasso.

Small yet captivating venue that showcases a distinct focus on local artists from Central Pennsylvania, the Susquehanna River Valley, and the Harrisburg metro area

I subscribed to museum membership given the love to arts and creativity, and to support and participate locally, inspite our financial circumstance. However, the two-faced approach of a principal SAM staff member, if not others as well, in singleling out a then 6-7 year old child (with certain ADHD-like struggles) who has never damaged anything nor hurt anyone in the museum, accompanied by a lone health-compromised parent, can be interpreted as hypocritical and oppressive-- like a cold, rigid police milieu in the midst of an art studio. No heart or true intelligence shown to the vulnerable one(s), including blatantly disregarding my request in the hopes of coping with their lack of professionalism. Thus, now made to seriously wonder whether certain staff there have true moral values.....or at the end of day just an ape-herd of cynical machinery. Otherwords, you're drawn in of what might've been an ambient celebration toward neuro-diversity. Only to be hit behind with narrowminded neuro-typicality. As a so-called "compensation" to those who lack humility, my sincere apologies not just to my younger child, but to the older one, who wasn't able to get the most out of the older kids art class, that she deserves, and would've deserved; had we been genuinely welcomed and accepted by the director and the alleged board. Who knows......maybe they the children, just weren't "white" enough ?
