My experience at the homeless shelter at the YWCA in Harrisburg was horrible first of all this supervisors act like they don’t want to help you with housing they act like they are limited and they look irritated whenever you need to follow up on things it just depletes your hope and motivation for a better life second of all there was a roommate who lived in the same room as me who was clearly I mean clearly obnoxious disrespectful irate and violent 24 seven and they did nothing about this this roommate also the same roommate stole from me on numerous occasions and they did nothing about this either all they did was say I am sorry but did absolutely nothing about it then they have the nerve to send me a notice to leave the shelter before they even helped me with anything mind you I was not the only one complaining about this roommate many people wore and they did not seem to care this was an a horrible experience and I was better off living in the streets or in my car I am just being honest everyone’s experience is different this was mine

I understand they're not used to women being the one's that need supervised but their gender biases were very obvious. They not only let my ex break the rules but they also told her things that were apparently confidential and they wouldn't tell me. I felt unwelcome every time I had to go there.

It's a very nice place! Friendly people all around! Except someones I.D. card went missing. There were also two people who weren't getting along. I heard a woman say something about physically assaulting another woman. Nothing was done about either problem. While I was there. This occurred, in one hours time.

I was assigned a DA, a month ago they were in court to represent me I get a phone call today that they have no record of that and I’m supposed to meet up with them... when I can’t I work full time and already had someone before the director said “I’m empathetic “ however the actions chosen proved otherwise... I legit had to hang up because she was no help and made me feel like I was in the wrong when I was not!

Absolutely totally unprofessional, and unfair. Rented to a person from their program. Avoid at all costs. They have no controls processes and will leave you hanging for sure.

A fine staff of compassionate and caring individuals. A great non-profit organization that provides a number of social services.

Has been a blessing for my friend to live for over two years. Some of the staff are very helpful and kind a help people move to the next level on their life’s. Some of the staff can be mean. Overall great experience :-)

The ywca will discharge you from the program with no place to go and will have you looking for a place then say it's no funding. The staff is sketchy tell all ur whereabouts confidentiality is a lie to the staff. Staff will set you up throw rocks and hide they hands type of adults. Don't get me wrong what may not work me may work for someone else different situations get different aid. Definitely a lot of jealousy from staff and clients who reside here. Plus the YWCA is in the middle of the hood be aware.

Why is the staple in our community our grandparents or parents our aunts or uncles their kids their grandkids and their great grandkids and even minds we all been had a part of it been there for multiple different family functions for the children and for the neighborhood

Have a case in litigation with Fair Housing Counsel. I said will keep you posted. What does your office do? One application was missed. One staff member stress out and she wasnt listening. Wrote a letter for that staff person. Hope she is fine and back at work.
