Interesting but very dark displays. The farmstead next door was beautiful.

This was part of a tour from the Hurtigruten "Taste of Vesterålen" excursion. It was a lovely history center with a lot of interesting objects, displays, and information!

The museum is pretty well organised despite the modern period area being still under construction. I enjoyed the Viking section in particular. My main criticism is that there's a restaurant at the first floor which shouldn't be a problem however, the smell of food is so strong that it completely ruins the "historical atmosphere".

Quaint local museum with a single focus on the local history of a medieval church first founded in the 900s CE

Nice museum of Alta History. The medieval farm was interesting.

Well narrated social history by appropriately costumed young lady in a reconstructed ancient family home. A tour of a museum of the area and superb surroundings in deep snow. Well worth it

So interesting! The church is amazing! So much history and ancient art. The Historical Center is full of artifacts of the medieval times and Viking Era. The medieval farm is a very realistic depiction of what an actual Viking Lodge would be.

We didn't have enough time to explore the museum thoroughly enough. But very interesting place

Helpful guide and a fairytale winter wonderland. The museum allows you to mingle with the exhibits and you feel a part of the history.

Awsom place to see one of the four Adolf guns. Ensure you book a visit before arrival. The guns are located in an Army Camp. We were escorted by an armed member of the Army.

Very friendly staff and fun exhibit to walk around. Quite dark throughout, but has disabled access. Cafe with hot and cold drinks available, as well as free parking when using the facility.

Some very interesting information and exhibition about local history, however it's definitely more interesting during summer time due to outdoor areas.
