Very nice and quiet place to visit close to Hanstad ( Northern Norway).

Quite simply, one of the most stunning mediaeval churches I have seen. Well worth the journey to get to it! And the welcome that we then got at the Historical Centre and Café nearby just added the icing on the cake, as far as I was concerned.

Beautiful old stone church with wooden ceiling and internal screed. Very old stone font gifted from Sweden. The organ is modern (1964?) but the engagement is 18th century. Beware walking along the sides outside as the roof tiles are falling. There are signs showing this. The adjacent Museum which chronicles the history of the region from earliest time is well set out and worth a visit. The cafe there is open in the morning and up to 1400.

Lovely church but as a non believer, I did not really want to waste time sitting through a service, whish was a mandatory part of out tour. Would have liked more information on history of the church and it's fortification, which is unusual for a church.
