It was such a nice place to go for a walk, relax, or even go for a jog. If you follow them on social media, you can always check out events they have over the summer. Something about when people get together in hartford is such a vibe.

This is a Beautiful ,Family friendly , Historical Park ,Smack downtown ,in the middle of the city!! Walking Jogging, strolling or Biking is encouraged! Places to sit and eat ,grass green enough to lay out a picnic basket and relax a while. They have a outdoor Museum, with statues that speaks its history. The back drop is the Capitol Building in all its Glory! They hold events that support the community! The kids play scape is new and stimulating and it blends well with the Antique carousel that is part of the fabric of this Amazing CT Treasure! You want to check events schedule for this year and put it as a Must Visit Destination !

Well-maintained park with some cool architecture and great views of both downtown and the capitol. Has some cool statues, a nice pond, a beautiful fountain, an imposing arch, and even a carousel and playground for the kids. Whenever live music starts happening again, there’s also a stage for outdoor concerts. Lots of open space as well, even though the park itself isn’t all that big. Enough open space for a guy to break out the pitching wedge. One of the best urban parks I’ve been to.

Visiting town and staying just a few blocks off the park. I spent a while walking around the park and really enjoyed the views. The park is beautiful and has lots of history tied up in it. There are plenty of statues and signs that designate and describe what each piece is for. Just a couple downsides being that the park does seem a little on the neglected side. The trash bins aren’t completely full, but people seem to not be able to walk an extra 4 feet to throw their stuff away. There were a few homeless people who have set up a day time residency within the park, and have garbage the strewn around. Only a couple had asked for money, but weren’t overly bothersome. Unfortunately when I hike in large cities I don’t carry anything on me, otherwise I offer food & water over cash. The grass on the east side of the park had appeared to have been cut at all this year and really detracts from the beauty of the park. Otherwise, it was a beautiful day out and it was nice to hike around and see beautiful artwork and learn more on the history of the park and the city.

It's a nice little park in the capital of Connecticut, with plenty of memorials to go around seeing. Also I love the little signs around the area telling you the history of the park. However, you would think the city / state would take care of the park right in front of the stare capital. Take a pool net to the pond and grab all the trash out please, and may be fill in the man sized potholes on the walking paths. If it wasn't for the history of the park, I'd give it 2-3 stars....Room for LOTS of improvement.

Great original playground in good condition but no bathrooms close-by for children unless you're there while the carousel is open. (Sept '22) No porta-potties in the whole park, I was directed to the closest free toilets, which are across the park at the library or the capitol building. Don't bring toilet learning children to this playground, it's too far a walk for bathrooms.

Great day for jazz at the park. Grounds kept clean, food trucks available for food purchase and fountain was a great addition to providing a welcoming ambience at Bushnell.

In hartford city, this park can be your companion for sure. many small architectures, one carousel and one lily pond, different varieties of trees are also there. Skating areangement is also there during winter for some time specially during Christmas and New Year. Otherwise greenery, huge playground is also enjoyable. You can get many public buses reaching different destination departing from there. A bio toilet was also there near the park. Have a visit if you are in Hartford..

Today as My family and I were standing on the Capitol. All races colors and creeds stood for equality and justice. We let our voices be heard in a peaceful demonstration thru the streets of downtown.

Cool place. We saw a squirrel running around with an entire piece of pizza lol. I loved that the grass wasn't cut all super short like most parks and that they had nice old buildings/structures around the area and a very cool looking playground. The water was interesting but we didn't hang out to watch the ducks in it since it smelled so strongly of algae. Nearby bathrooms were locked, and there's construction in the park but all that being said I really did find it peaceful among all the tall buildings.

DISGUSTING! RAT infested. Used condoms, razor blades, trash, rotting food. All next to the child's play area and carousel. Homeless are slowly setting up camp. Graffiti on walls. Absolute disgrace.

There are two parts of Bushnell. I like the section that's under the capitol building since it's such a nice view. The parks are well maintained, with nice wheelchair accessible sidewalks.

This beautiful park,is situated in the capitol city that is Hartford. You can just simply walk through and enjoy the scenery/view. They do offer some unique opportunities to have some nostalgic fun. During the winter, they offer Free ice skating here, including the skates. There is an old carousel still up and in operation at one end of the park, near the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch. They have played old time baseball games here during the summer from back when gloves were not used (mid 1800's) and the teams were dressed to the era. Bottom line; This is a nice park to check out and you never know what you'll see here. I even attended a Temptations concert here with my father... Good times

Great place to spend New Year's eve with your family. It's become a tradition for us. Parking was only $5 and free after 6. There was plenty of officers on hand to ensure public safety. Although the carousel gets very crowded by 5 pm, the kids love it as well as the free skating. Before visiting the park, we stopped at Vaughn's Irish Pub for a great bite to eat with our granddaughter. The food was wonderful.and reasonably priced.

I call Bushnell Park "My Park" my family has enjoyed this park including old time original carousel all my life, I even witnessed JFK during his visit to Hartford in the late 1960's. Park has kid friendly duck pond and Ice skating tin winter starting with the X -Mas season. Fun, safe, clean activities for the whole family. Let's go!

America's oldest urban public park, and it's a really nice park! There are many good spaces here, and it provides easy access to the Capitol from downtown.

I love Bushnell Park and take pride that it is the oldest publically funded park. The area is pretty safe and I've never had a problem at the park or waking through the park late night. (To get cigs on Washington street. When downtown is a ghost town). The only reason why I rated it a 4 out of 5 is because the pond is full of algae, green and disgusting...even smells bad. I really do enjoy coming here and watching the nature. There are a ton of different birds including geese , Pigeons and even a blue heron . This park is peaceful .

Hartford has historical and beautiful parks on every side of the city. Kenney, Bushnell, Pope, Elizabeth, Colt, and many others have served to be great safe outlets for generations of residents and visitors to our parks. There is appropriate need to invest in the infrastructures and amenities of our parks so that they can continue to be safe recreational heavens for our diverse communities and all visitors to our fine city.
