This use to be the best Mexican Restaurant in Hattiesburg, I recently got take out and I found a dead roach and hair in my food. I will never eat here again. I nicely returned the meal.

Buyer Beware. I ordered takeout from this restaurant today around 3:30 P.M. I chose it in part because of reviews I read that said they were great with dietary restrictions. I made it clear that I had allergies to flour tortillas. I had to be this specific, because the young waiter taking the order didnt understand what a gluten allergy meant. I specified with the flour tortillas, and I requested an allergen warning to be put on my food. I ordered my child a taco a la carte. They were unable to do that. So, I got him a kids meal, even though nothing else but the taco would be eaten by the child. I requested no lettuce. It was incorporated into the taco with the melted cheese. That was less of a problem to me. Mistakes happen in a kitchen. I ordered a Carne Asada and Enchiladas Verde, as well. The Enchiladas Verde I ordered with bean instead of chicken for a vegetarian meal, and I verified 3 times before the end of the order that the Enchiladas would be coming in corn tortillas, due to the allergy. I warned about the cross-contamination danger and verified again that the allergen warning be on the order for the kitchen, a common practice in a restaurant. I also requested that raw veggies be added atop the Enchiladas such as onion, tomato, and lettuce. This is a pregnancy craving that I have been having, which was our main reason for ordering this meal today. I picked the order up a little before 4:00, and headed home through weekend traffic across town. When I unpacked the food at home at 4:45, I discovered that my Enchiladas were not in the bag. I called the restaurant, and they said that they were there in the kitchen. Please come pick them up. My husband went to get them for me, returning at 6 P.M., after driving there and back again. When he returned, and gave me the Enchiladas I had ordered 2 1/2 hours before, I cut info them and found they were wrapped in flour tortillas, and that the toppings had been left off altogether. I immediately called the restaurant. I asked if they had been wrapped in flour tortillas. The to go waiter realized his mistake immediately and asked me to come back again to get new Enchiladas. I told him that I could not now due to time constraints. He said he didn't know what to do and that a manager would call me back shortly. A manager never did call me back. I paid a considerable price for this meal, and only one of three people in my household was able to eat it. The Carne Asada was also reportedly unappetizing and dry. I could let everything else go except for the flour tortillas wrapping up the food on the meal with the allergen warning for the flour tortillas. That coupled with the fact that it took more than two hours to "complete" the order, and that they requested I return a third time for mishandled food, with no management communication whatsoever makes this somewhere that I can never eat again. It is also somewhere that I would NEVER suggest that anyone with any dietary restrictions should eat. Steer clear, There are plenty of other restaurants in town.

We shared fajitas for 1 and it was enough for 2. There was a party in the back room and only one other couple in the main room. It took forever to get our order and I had to ask for chips and salsa. Our order was wrong and I think our waiter was new. His English was not good but he pulled up on his phone he was sorry. We had nothing else to do so we were patient and enjoyed a few drinks. Don't be in a hurry if you go there and have patience. The rating I gave was for much improvement is needed.

Honestly I do not recommend anybody going to this restaurant. I absolutely hated this restaurant and I normally do not use words like that! 1st the lady that set the chips and salsa on the table was very rude she did not greet us she did not say anything to us She just put the chips in sauce on a table and walked away! Ben came to the food but guacamole is right out of a package not made in house at all! The cheese dip was running. The chips were out of a bag they were not fresh a tasted very in store so if you look in for all finnick Mexican restaurant this is not it.

Just spent 30 something dollars for a Togo order and it wasn't even made right. Didn't even get the cheese dip I ordered. One of the shrimp tacos didnt even have shrimp in them and no cheese or anything that the menu said came on it!! I'm very disappointed and honestly surprised cause I have never had this experience before going to papitos. Will definitely use the 49 location from now on

As soon as we walked through the door there was an employee sprawled out on a booth and he screamed out. Mind you this is our first impression of this restaurant. We get sat at our table where the booth seats were covered in tortilla chip crumbs. That alone made a statement for itself but we choice to stay because we hoped our service would make up for the dirty table. Then we’re sent out our waitress who at first was nice. She got our drinks but upon returning she was to focused flirting with the boy who had been laying on the booth to take our order. One person in our party had to repeat their order 3 times before she understood what our person was ordering. She kept looking our at the boy, talking, and giggling while actively trying to take our order. I had to wait 5+ minutes before she finally finished taking my friends order which was three chimichangas and Mexican rice. Literally that’s it. After that my other friend and I ordered. About 20 minutes later in an empty restaurant, we were literally the only people there, we got our food. Our food was lukewarm not even hot. Then they messed up one order and had to take it back. All of our drinks were empty by the time we got our food and had been empty since about 5 minutes after we originally sat down. Our waitress was very scatterbrained and distracted. She never once looked over to check on us not to mention we’re in an empty restaurant. Any time we’d go to ask for a refill she would run off and ignore us calling her. After we finished eating I asked for to go boxes and tried flagging her down twice. The boy from the beginning even called her and she whipped around with a big smile for him. That same boy was staring at us for the entirety of our meal. This made us very uncomfortable considering he should be working not staring at people while on the clock. Once she came back she had to go cups not plates for our empty cups and full plates. Then she asked us did you say to go cups or to go plates? We said plates. She brought us our plates and our ticket. Needless to say she did not receive a tip. The only enjoyable part was the young man who seated us and took our money. The host. He was respectful, kind, and helpful. He had a great attitude and even offered us bags for our togo plates and put our stuff in the bags for us. - November 12, 2023

They have really good cheese dip.. probably the best in Hattiesburg. The food is ok but the service in the cleanliness at the restaurant is very lacking. I feel like they really need to work on cleaning the place and work on having faster and more efficient service.

We walked in at 9:40 and was told that Papito’s closed at 10. Google states 11 and I did advise the employees of this info. My issue was the lady at the counter had a very dismissive attitude. She did not want to see if it was ok for us (only 2 of us) to still dine. She finally went to the back and a male employee returned with her…..same dismissive behavior. I finally told him we would go else where. Horrible customer service!!

The parillada for 2 was so delicious and it was so big that it could have fed 4 people instead of 2 . The staff was friendly and I love setting on the patio. The food always comes promptly!

Waiter just disappeared, never refilled drinks or checked on us at all. He didn't even bring our checks. When we complained every employee showed zero concern. We were told we just need to pay and leave. Between the food and drinks we each spent $30 with piss poor service. Won't be back.

There food has definitely gone down hill. Grilled chicken dried out, beef taco was not good, my chicken taco was bland. Cheese dip was ok. Salsa was ok to me but not my son. Definitely won't be back. Service had a few problems with our meals but was solved easily.

Normally this place is good but it really let me down recently. The waiter was super sweet and was very attentive. The food was the problem. I ordered a taco salad and instead of shredded cheese, the accidentally put shredded soap on top. I was a little upset they still charged me for it even after I sent it back and told them I didn’t want another one.

Great food. It's tucked away off of 98 so it's easy to get in when everything else is busy.

I hosted a work event today and was overcharged double. The owner prepared more food than we agreed on and then overcharged for it. When I confronted the situation, he wasn’t apologetic. I was clearly taken advantage of. One of his own employees said he was sorry and that the owner was money hungry. Very bad business!

They did not honor their catering prices for our event and served more food than we requested and charged us for it. Once given the bill we questioned it as we were told a different amount per person and they threatened to call the police if we didn’t pay it. Will not be back.

First off, person had no idea what sweet n low was. Speaks English very well. She was new and should not be answering phone. Had mo idea of anything. Finally spoke with someone else. Ordered taco salad no sour cream and guacamole. Got the order back home and opened up. Covered in guacamole and sour cream. After removing it all I had left was chicken and tortilla. Not even in a tortilla bowl. Soggy tortilla. Threw it in the trash. Waste of my time and money.

I ordered food for pick up and freaked out because I thought there was a leaf in it. Turns out it was just seasoning and they still remade it for me after I asked. All in all great service. Very nice and respectful employees.

Papito's definitely has great food. However they desperately need to update their restaurant. The bathroom needs attention immediately. The service is absolutely terrible. The last three times we have been our waiter has neither refilled drinks nor came by for anything other than to bring the food. They are often very busy though so customers are trying to look past all of that because the food is excellent. But as a customer, my advice is put a little money into the upkeep and and have staff that enjoy the service industry.

I've visited Papitos many times I the past but never tasted the steak. It was very lean and tender and a good savory flavor.

It was a pleasant experience. but as expected nothing above normal for this kinda of cuisine. Better than fast food. Well worth the price.
