10 out of 10! Great beer, clean bathrooms, pet & kid friendly, food on site, Even though the Pecan & Praline bock was not releasing until tomorrow, the brewers gave us permission to have a pour today! So good! Water available for patrons and pets. Seating inside and out. Board & card games available to take to your table. Movies and live music on weekends. I have visited over 60 breweries across the US and this place is in my top 3.

This was a great place! Only drank one flight while there. The Ginger beer was great! It has upstairs seating with TV and first floor seating I side near bar plus a great outdoor patio. Such a pretty place outside. Nice bartenders. Outdoor TV under a covered patio. It was a creepy drive, way out in the boonies but well worth the trip. UPDATE 6/2023: we were in the San Marcos area and I made the trek with my hubby this time. We weren't impressed with the beer this time but the pastrami sandwich was excellent! Bought a $4 chocolate chip cookie; it wasn't the best I've had but not the worst either. Still love this place for the outside area. Oh, there was an acoustic performer on the patio! Hot day, 104.

Great spot on the Austin Ale Trail that isn’t in Austin! Nice variety of beers, lots of farmhouse tastes. Didn’t get food but it looked AMAZING. Great AC inside of hot days, but no dogs allowed inside since they have a full menu. Nice little shaded patio though with fans and water for dogs. Will be back on our way from Austin to San Antonio!

Saturday was such a pretty day I decided to get out of the house and explore. I found this Brewery just by accident. I was looking at Google map and saw Middleton Brewery and just by accident I saw Roughhouse Brewery . If you go, you need to turn on Oakwood Loop as if you were going to Middleton but just keep going down Oakwood Loop for about a mile and you will see it on your right. The place has lots of seating under large Oak trees. I was there around 2 in the afternoon and there was a great band playing and some people were playing cornhole. There was a kids area as well. The atmosphere was super relaxing and the people were very friendly. I like it better then any of the other area brewery's.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting an incredibly cool establishment in San Marcos, and let me tell you, it's definitely worth adding to your travel itinerary. The food is simply delicious, and the beers are a real treat, especially since they're brewed in-house. Not to mention, the outdoor seating and heaters make it a great place to cozy up and enjoy a meal or a pint, even on chilly evenings. But that's not all - this place really knows how to keep things interesting, with regular music events that create a lively and entertaining atmosphere. And if you're a stargazing enthusiast, you're in for a real treat, because the night sky in San Marcos is simply breathtaking. As someone who hails from New York, the opportunity to see stars like this was truly the highlight of my trip. All in all, this spot is a true gem in San Marcos, and a must-visit destination for anyone who loves great food, delicious beer, and a lively atmosphere. I can't recommend it enough!

Great place for a local brew. Good choice of food... We had the fancy nachos and partner had a BBQ sandwich which he gave a 10. Loved this place.

Rustic farmhouse setting with beautiful carpentry and renovation. The loft overlooks the brew tanks which employ large wooden and stainless tanks. Thursday happy hour features 3 dollar pints. There is an expansive outdoor patio with kids climbing walls and a stage. The beer was solid farmhouse styles and friendly service.

We loved our visit to Roughhouse and would definitely go back! The beer was good and I appreciated they also had other beverages available for purchase. Did not have anything to eat. Hung out upstairs listening to live music which was great and not too loud! and playing Skipbo for a few hours on a very hot day. The property was beautiful. Definitely recommend. ~R Gracey, Owner, Great Houston Properties Real Estate

It's such an awesome brewery! We came on the recommendation of a friend and we were not disappointed. The beer was more than great. Their Flagship beer Treeform was spectacular. If you like sours, Ona is the one for you. Will definitely be back.

Roughhouse Brewing is a super cool place off the beaten path that my husband took me while we were on vacation. It has a great story and the owners are so very happy to share that with you. The venue, beers, and appetizers are awesome! They have some accolades as well. Games to play in the outdoor area, a space for live music. We’d love to return when in San Marcos.

Lovely, relaxing outdoor seating under the oak trees. Beer was cold and tasty. Homemade salsa was just the right amount of kick. Loved the garden! Staff was super nice and welcoming. We will be back!

We had our rehearsal lunch for our wedding at Roughhouse Brewing and it was a huge success! Roughhouse was a breath of fresh air during our whole wedding planning process. They executed the entire event in-house with minimal planning from us. They proposed a great menu (BBQ, which our guests loved) and arranged even the small things like food labels and a curated list of beverages for our guests that we chose from their main menu. On the day of, the food was great, the beer was great, the service was great… couldn’t have been easier! They also welcomed our guests to stay beyond the end time of the private event reservation, leading to many more hours of enjoyment in their lovely outdoor space. Thank you Victoria and Roughhouse!

It was an impromptu and great stop. Building an environment outside looked amazing. Ordering the beer was simple. I ordered a flight of four beers and that was plenty for me. The dark beer had a chocolatey taste. It was extremely relaxing outside while listening to great music.

Great brewery. Lots of shaded patio space. Live music. Generous pours on the flights. Food. What's not to like. Even have a kids play area. Check it out worth the trek off the beaten path

Pros: I’m not from around here, but i’m sure this is the best place to relax in San Marcos! It has clean bathrooms and good food with great employees that will deliver your food quick and easily. Cons: Wouldn’t let me climb the tree. You lost one star for that and the fact that the pretzels are hard and stiff.👍
