Not your normal Mexican Restaurant. Pure energy and fun in the atmosphere. Our server Luis was out of this world. The food and environment were eclectic and next level. Food taste and presentation were true art forms. Tasty….tasty…and more tasty!!’

Casa del Toro is a beautiful Hayward gem - amazing atmosphere and customer service. Had lunch today for the first time, and I was very impressed! The mushroom empanadas were soooo good. My pasta dish was made with such care. The noodles were hand made, you could tell. Delicious drinks too. Definitely will be back soon!

Went here on a whim without reservations on a Friday night for my birthday and was seated within 10 minutes. The waiter recommended 2 cocktails, pasion medianoche and tu sonrisa; the former was very fruity and sweet (must try), and the latter was less so and had stronger alcohol taste, but was still good. Onto the appetizer, we had ceviche mixto to share which came with 4 tostaditas. The texture of the seafood was soft and bouncy with the right amount of acid/salt/sourness, nothing overpowering between the ingredients. The first entree was the skirt steak cooked medium rare with a side of mushrooms. The meat was easy to chew and had great flavors, but the standout was the chimichurri sauce. One dab and you can taste the vinegrettiness with olive oil mixed with the herbs/greens, definitely changes the profile compared to eating without. For the 2nd entree, we ordered the paella del toro. Big, fresh and crunchy shrimps with clams/mussels and soft scallops. A slice of crisp bread can soak up the creaminess of the sauce, wish they had offered more of it. Paella was decent, served on the side as not to immerse too much of the sauce until you want it to. I saved the leftover sauce since it contains all the seafoody goodiness that I can infuse into spaghetti or rice for my next meals. Overall, the friendly ambiance, nice attentive waiters and relaxed atmosphere create a casual night outing into an incredible experience.

Made a reservation for Father's day brunch and didn't realize that there would be a preset menu for the day, which basically consisting of two courses--a dish from a small selection from their regular brunch menu and two choices for dessert. It was $48/person. It likely is our fault for not looking carefully, but it didn't seem apparent when making the reservation that the menu for the day would be different. Our total came out to be way more than expected because of this. The appetizers were tasty, but portions were a little small, especially for the pork belly. The entrees were very good. Their potatoes were a highlight, perfectly seasoned and very fluffy. The dessert was a bit lacking, in my opinion. The flavor of the flan was a bit bland and not very sweet. Overall, the food was enjoyable. Service could have been a bit better; we had to remind our server that we asked for water a couple of times, and they forgot to take the reservation fee off of our bill until we reminded them. In conclusion, it is worth a try if you go on a regular day so that the prices are not unreasonable and you have more options to select from.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Food was delicious, the Pisco sour (Peruvian Pisco) was ok, and the sangria was above average. It's a Latin American restaurant with Latin American and Spanish dishes. A great spot to meet up with friends or a date. It is very bright inside so don't expect a romantic setting if on a date.

Came here for Brunch with the kids. We all shared family style and all the food was so tasty. Next time I'll come for the bottomless Mimosa.

Had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. Food was amazing and service was great! I love a good fried chicken sandwich and the one here does not disappoint! Chicken was juicy and crispy and the spicy aioli goes well with it! Wife got the Casa Tequila Salad, which was very good as well with the jumbo prawns. They have a good selection of spirits as well. I tried the Peach cider, which was refreshing and went well with my sandwich! There is a kids menu and our toddler had the fideos (noodles with cheese and butter) and she loved it. I would highly recommend this restaurant when visiting downtown Hayward.

Amazing menu! Best cocktails I have ever tasted. Seriously. The "torero" is my favorite. Plates are delicious and, though they look small, they are satisfying and sufficient. Service is good, friendly, personable, and humorous. This has become my wife's and my favorite place. It is very loud, however, so be prepared for that kind of experience.

I can't emphasize enough how good this place is. We have been to the best restaurants in the East Bay, and Casa del Toro has the right to be among them. The food is a mix of Latin American food (it's not a Mexican restaurant. No tacos here), very well cooked, with great ingredients and straight to the point. No fancy stuff that could distract you from the raw materials. Also the location is very nice, and the service was great. This is a hidden jewel in the East Bay.
