Although the hiking trail network is supposed to cover 5,300 km, this number is more misleading than relevant. Not every km needs to be signposted, just the intersections. Here, hikers and other nature lovers often find no information at all or just numbers that only provide help via a purchased hiking map. Who takes photos of the local maps in the forest and then laboriously looks for the route and number on their smartphone? There are only a few signs that say ... km to XY. These are the only signs people look for - everything else is useless for the average citizen! Given the high subsidies from the district and donations, one wonders where the money is going. At least not in invested benches that you could rest on. There are days when we don't see a bank in the Odenwald. A lot of money probably goes into publicity such as the Geo-Naturpark aktuell magazine or the administrative apparatus. The geo-nature park does not even begin to live up to the standards it has set itself and is superfluous.
