Excellent starting point between the Bensheim districts of Gronau and Wilmshausen. From there there are numerous, comfortable hiking trails around the Gronau Valley or down to Schönberg and the Fürstenlager. Be careful: there used to be a secret path here, but now there is a driving ban. Nodules occur. Good hub for MTB riders!

The Schönberger Kreuz is a crossroads built in 1915 and is located at the common border point of the districts of Schönberg, Wilmshausen and Gronau. The Knodener Höhenweg leads along here, with great views of the Lauter and Meerbach valleys. There is also a shelter and a bench at Schönberger Kreuz. Unfortunately, the asphalted forest road that runs along there (closed to vehicle traffic) between Wilmshausen and Gronau is used as an illegal secret route - and not in isolated cases, but quite frequently. The public order office could make a killing if it stood there for an hour.
