The Worst Hotel Ever! Firstly the hotel was very dirty, the rooms were in a poor state and the amenities were quite frankly disgusting. Then there was the noise issue. We had a room away from the road, but you could still hear cars constantly. We struggled to find any staff in the hotel as they were constantly on breaks and there was no food or drink available. The pool was extremely dirty and the hot tub wasn't;t even working. Then to cap it all off, we had a bag go missing in our hotel room. It had an air tag in and we could see it was on the property but none of the staff helped us find it. We have now asked for security camera footage and this issue is being escalated to the police. My recommendation - give this place a miss, especially as it's v.expensive for what you get.

I would give this hotel 3.5 stars. Rooms are comfortable but dated and small. Walls are thin so noise can be a problem. The food area was closed but they still charged for coffee in the lobby. The roof lounge and lobby were fun to hang out and there were lots of places to grab breakfast nearby. Views of the ocean are a big plus. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

I’ll keep it short. I think this hotel has a lot of potential and I would love to come back but there are a few things that they would need to change before I would consider another stay. I’ll start with the pros- great views of the ocean from the balcony, short walk to the beach, across the street from a grocery store, friendly staff, nice patio with furniture and games. The cons- cockroach in our room, the most uncomfortable couch I’ve ever sat on, poor lighting in the room, and generally a dated feel to the room and building (minus the lounge area and patio, they were quite nice). I’ll also mention that many modern hotels have a desk and chair for business travelers. Unfortunately, we did not have a desk or a chair in our room. My wife was working remotely for a portion of our stay and it was not a comfortable space for work. It seems as if they started renovating an older hotel but for whatever reason stopped half way through. If they fully updated it and improved on the things mentioned above, it would a really nice place that I would love to return to.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights so my husband could scuba dive in Catalina. The hotel has a great location. Other then that the hotel was a disappointment. The room smelled musty, was not clean (particularly the floor) and there were virtually no amenities. The hotel rooms are desperately in need of a remodeling. They are very dated. The staff is helpful and you can get anywhere in Avalon from the hotel so those are the good things. There is no outdoor communal space for relaxing or unwinding. We stayed in a cottage so it was easily accessible but I am attaching a picture of the stairs. They are quite intimidating if you have a room at the top. We would not stay here again.

WARNING!!! WOMEN BEWARE THERE IS A PREDATOR ON THE PREMISES. I visited this hotel and all was well until I had waitstaff named "juan" or "jose" open my door and attempted to enter my room unannounced while I was in the bathroom undressed. I clothed and went outside to find a man outside my room door and when asked if he entered my room he ignored me and pretended to not speak English. I went to the front desk to report this predator to the manager named Daniel who blew me off and said I was wrong and mistaken. I asked if there were cameras to verify or a record of electronic key swipe access to doors and he said no. He said I was mistaken and no one entered my room, he told me he would investigate and get back to me and now today July 29, 2023, I have yet to have anyone contact me. In hindsight, I regret not calling the police but in those moments of diress, you don't always make the best decisions. I was told by the Mgr Daniel that there is no record of key swipe or cameras in the halls to verify anything. The establishment is NOT SAFE OR SECURE

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the hotel has a cool vibe. Some short-comings though… Room was dark, bed was old and some very thin walls. Great area and walking distance to the beach.

We stayed at Hotel Hermosa April 2023. We had originally booked the Baja Loft Suite. However, once we checked in I was not pleased with the room, it had only 1 balcony and not a great view. Mind you, we checked in early and probably had the last room of its kind available. I called the front desk to see what the options were. They did let me know there would be another Baja room with a better view and 2 balconies available at 3, however, they also let me know the penthouse was available for an upgrade charge. We went and viewed the Penthouse room and it was a no brainer to switch rooms. The view was absolutely beautiful, it had a small kitchen, 1000 square foot, large dining table, fireplace, 1 1/2 bathrooms including a jacuzzi tub. There were 2 balconies, one was on the first floor, the other was a large balcony with a table on the second floor. The staff was very helpful, rooms were quiet, I also did not hear any other guests while in our room. Beautiful 25 minute walk to the pier. I would absolutely recommend this hotel. If the penthouse is available I would definitely spend the extra money!

Older property but great location. Funky decor and vibe. I've stayed here twice now and will probably do so again for future trips to the area. Easy access to the beach and nearby Hermosa Beach restaurants.

The rooms are fine, my only issue is that for some reason my card kept getting demagnetized. But the front desk workers were extremely nice. And the location is amazing. There's a trail nearby to run and walk dogs, and a little more down is the beach and a bunch of restaurants and shops

Beautiful place, modern decor, comfortable bed. Bathroom lights have a motion detector and they came on randomly in the middle of the night several times (due to AC blowing the shower curtain??). The light would wake me up, I'd go push the button to turn it off but it would come on again later so I gave up. If staying there again, I'd shut the bathroom door all the way at night. Frustrating that something that is supposed to save energy is wasting it instead.

I entered the lobby and observed one of the Hotel staff (Henry) being completely berated by a hotel guest. He remained extremely calm under the circumstances, and continued to provide excellent customer service with a smile. I felt terrible for him. Aside from this, the room I had was nice, clean, comfortable, and served its purpose. The sitting area outside is beautiful and has a nice view of the beach. I didn't visit the pool area, so I can't give an accurate opinion on that. If I HAD to gripe about something, it would probably be that most places I've stayed at have at least one bottle of complimentary water in the room, alas, this one does not. I need water to take my medications at night and it would have been nice to have that. Otherwise, my stay here was ideal. Henry alone deserves 5/5 stars.

Stayed at hotel hermosa for a work trip and it quickly became one of our favorite little staycations in South Bay. The beachside room view is breathtaking at sunset. We loved the food, the spacious yard, and the light-filled lobby for having brunch and remote working during the day. The parking was convenient, secure, and handicap accessible which was a plus (the hotel is situated at the top of the hill overlooking the beach).

We booked this for the tail end of our trip (2 nights) and it was very okay! Like cute boutique hotel, but likely wouldn't stay here again. The location was very close to the beaches which was nice/ convenient and there was a parking deck which was nice. Breakfast is an additional charge. Lots of construction on the first floor with rooms blocked off for "contamination area". Made my anxiety immediately sky rocket, just because like.. construction?? Or something else. Our room had issues opening, constantly. We had to ask the front desk worker to come help us at one point, cause the door just wouldn't open. That was frustrating considering the cost, and we would stand outside our room for a few minutes every time trying to get back in. Bathroom lights are every efficient, although they didn't seem to work consistently and I'd say the bathroom lights / fan were on 95% of the time we were in the room with no real way to disable to energy efficiency. Road noise is loud as it sits right at a busy intersection. We didn't use the pool, so can't speak to that. But we did sit in the hot tub for probably like 5 minutes before getting out as there was an insane amount of foam that formed (I am guessing from the chemicals), but we have a hot tub at home and both were like nope, we're good and got out.

Booked a Spa suite, The jacuzzi tub in the room was cracked and the paint was peeling. The front desk person was very apologetic and put us in a loft suite, much nicer room with just a regular tub, but it was clean. The bed was super soft, not our cup-o-tea but at least it wasn’t a block of wood. The couch had a funk to it, they might want to replace it, we just put a spare blanket over it. It’s a pull-out couch so not very comfortable to sit in for a long time but we didn’t stay there to sit on the couch all night. The staff was really nice and helpful, if it wasn’t for them we probably wouldn’t have stayed. The hotel is nice, clean, cool areas to play pool and hang out in the courtyard. The pool and jacuzzi was clean and warm. Overall we had a great stay, would definitely book again, hopefully they’ll get a new in-room jacuzzi tub couch. Thanks!!

I spent many hours researching the perfect hotel that met my budget needs and LA vibe needs and this place knocked it out of the park. Beds are beyond comfy, vibes are unreal, views are incredible and location was perfect. My only regret is not having enough time to enjoy just the hotel because it was that amazing. Already planning my return!

Great location (close to the beaches and airport), nice rooms and friendly staff. Underground parking was surprisingly spacious even with the full-size van I had. Not sure about their room service though, as I stayed there for 3 nights but no one showed up to make up my room (not that I really need it though).

Amazing staff and service. The laundry facility was a bit hard to find (no clear signage to find it) room smelled like there was a dog prior to us using the room so they could do a bit better on cleaning (or at least designate specific rooms for pets and non pets) but most of the hotel is pretty clean, nice outdoor patio to do lots of stuff, close to the beach and airport.

Lovely boutique hotel near the beach. We enjoyed our short stay. The staff were kind and helpful. Parking is available which is super helpful in this area (paid parking but reasonable). Nice deck area to relax outside and some nice food options available across the street.

Hotel Hermosa is so nice! I love the location with good restaurants & Lazy Acres grocery across the street. Parking is super easy & not overpriced like other places. The staff was so nice! Greg, Daniel, Claudia & Alejandra were all helpful. Shout out to the “behind the scenes” staff that made sure my room was clean and nice.

It was under construction. Furniture looked like they got it from Goodwill. It had tears, was dirty, and stained. Pretty gross. The room was clean, and the maids were great.

The rooms are too tiny I mean ultra small rooms. That right there is a deal breaker for me. Our blanket got spoiled and I called the front desk for a new one and they never came. The people at the front desk there's one person that's there I met two of them and they were both very friendly. The hotel does have a beach view on the 2nd and 3rd floor. It's very congested little area and it's a quick turn off on the road but easy to find. I would definitely suggest you wake up early morning after sunrise and go to the Manhattan Beach Pier it's amazing vibes and super chill. I do have some really good soap that they provide and hand moisturizer which I think is a really nice touch.

We had a great experience! Definitely recommend. Some of the reviews had me nervous, but it was probably the best hotel experience I’ve had. Stewart checked us in and gave us a room by the pool! He was a pleasure to chat with during the check in process. I realized the pillows in the room were down, so I asked for poly fill pillows and Adolfo was kind enough to find one for me! The room itself was very clean, cute, and perfect for our stay. I think some of the people leaving bad reviews should do more research into this boutique hotel so they aren’t disappointed there’s no bellhop. It’s clearly not the Hilton, but that’s why it’s great! I love that they only do housekeeping by request. It’s a great value for the price. Not *on* the beach but a pretty easy 15-20 min walk through residential areas. We will definitely be back if we find ourselves in the area again!

Lovely place to stay! The ocean view rooms were not overpriced (at least when I went) and the beds were comfy and the facility clean. I stayed there due to a concert at the Forum, and I loved that we could get to the Forum without taking the freeway!!

This spot has been a solid choice for our Hermosa beach visits. Beds are comfortable, it's in a good location close to the beach and you can walk around pretty easily. Parking in their lot was an issue but was able to find parking on a nearby street so it was an issue but not a big one and I'd just check the map or call in about available street parking that might be nearby just in case this happens. Outside of that, another great stay.

This is a real disappointment. They charge you like other top hotels in the, area while their rooms are tiny and the lobby looks like a NYC subway station. It is very clean but very old and has a carpet smell. Was trying to cancel. Y reservation but they wouldn't allow me

We booked this hotel for 2 nights for a quick get away. We were a bit nervous, based on some bad reviews. However, those reviews couldn’t be more wrong! We checked in, and Rayy at the front desk was so kind and friendly. The inside has a cool modern design. Our room was FANTASTIC! The bed was SO soft and the interior design was so cute! It was an easy walk to the beach and the views from the hotel are fantastic! You do have to pay for onsite parking, but it’s covered and leads right into the hotel. So, we gladly paid for that. 10/10 would stay here again!

It is only 6 minutes walking from the beach, an excellent place and the lobby, pool and rest area is ideal to spend time with the family. The pool tables are great to hang out with friends and it's probably one of the best decorated hotels between modern and classic that I've ever been to.

Friendly and helpful staff. Easy check-in and check-out process. Our room was small but it was clean. The bed was comfortable. Just a few minutes from the beach. Overall it was a nice stay

I loved my experience. I lived in Hermosa and went back for my daughter’s wedding. I used to have my son stay there when he was in town and he loved it. This was my first stay. I came with a friend. We both loved our time there. Fabulous experience!

UPDATE*** Finally stayed here. The service was just as superb in lobby ad it was over the phone. I did not get the woman's name working the front seat but she was awesome! This hotel takes pride in its customer service. The room was adequate size. The bed was super comfy. Best nights rest I have had in a long time! The atmosphere of the room is inspiring. Very quiet. The beach is not far away. Will be back for another break from life for sure! *** I have not stayed yet. I am planning a trip soon and called with questions. I am not kidding you, I had the absolute best customer service experience I have ever had in my long time on this earth. Miles was absolutely amazing answering my questions no matter how ridiculous they may have seemed to him. I know exactly where I will be booking as soon as I get the dates hashed out and it will solely be due to the customer service . Thank you miles! You are appreciated!

First and foremost Diamond & Benedict we’re excellent on every aspect regarding customer service. Friendly, welcoming and attentive to their guests needs. The rooms are clean. Location is great. The only thing that could use some TLC is the hallway carpet, they were a little dingy and could use a good cleaning. Other than that the place and staff were excellent! Thank you!
