Third time here. The more you come the more you like this restaurant. The menu covers a wide range of food from north to south, east and west part of China. Skeptical about the kitchen could handle these wide range of selections. But apparently, the cooks back there are pretty versatile. Regarding the taste, I would rate it 4 star if this restaurant is in Beijing or Shanghai. But in brown bay offering this good taste, it deserves 5 star. The ambiance is nice though hardwares are a bit rundown, no luxury, not spotless clean. Services are pretty good. Hope I set the right expectations for you.

ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH!! No sooner and we had sat down and were told “You have an hour, we’re busy!!”!! Not that any of the Chinese were told the same thing in Mandarin around us!! Then we only saw the same trolleys with the same selections going round, no Rice Rolls or Fried Squid or Vegetable Dishes….. half the dishes were almost cold and the BBQ Pork we ordered took forever and when it did eventually turn up, it looked insipid and had hardly any BBQ flavour! Not only that, when we went to pay, we were charged $18 more than what we actually spent - having added it up myself! If you are EUROPEAN and enjoy great yum cha, do yourself a favour and go to GRAND HARBOUR and avoid the disappointment of this place!

So….where do I start! I have been looking forward to visiting this restaurant for the last 6 months and as I had family over it seemed the perfect time…how wrong was I! I am not normally one to leave bad reviews but I honestly have not been more disappointed at a restaurant! Firstly we were served uncooked prawns, still blue in the middle, luckily I spotted it! They took them back and cooked them some more and then brought them back, even the half bitten one! I Ordered the spicy Mongolian beef, it was more like beef in bisto gravy with a few peppercorns, would have gone well with some roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. My son ordered the lemon chicken breast (it specifically said chicken breast) it arrived and it was chicken thigh in a weird sweet batter with a kind of honey sauce with lemons on top, it wasn’t good! Finally Ordered a Chinese hot and sour soup..it was hot…about 90 degrees but had no spice, no sour and no real taste, apart from the mushrooms… they were pleasant! probably the highlight of the meal was when we asked whether we could adjust the spice level of a dish from hot to mild, was told that wouldn’t be a problem, next minute the dish was on the table…on its own….we hadn’t even ordered anything at this point, just asked a question! All in all very bad food and I certainly will not be returning!

I've dine here on numerous occasions for dinner and it's always highly recommended by friends who live on the shore. The table layout is spacious and there is ample parking on and off street at night. Food came out quickly after ordering. Good value for money and very tasty! The Peking Duck was very good.

Wonderful and polite service and generous portions for all food ordered compared to other similar priced Chinese restaurants. No allocated parking for customers but had free off-road parking near by. Offers yumcha at lunch and dishes at dinner. Family friendly restaurant and had bright and large atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Yes, no doubt you should visit for some very yummy Asian goodness! Visited with family and they ordered some favourites and I ate untill I couldn't breathe! AN ABSOLUTE must have is the che-cheung-fun (not sure if that's the correct spelling but it's the dish that has soft steamed rice noodles that looks like lasagna strips with filling and sauce poured over them - check my photos). Make sure you dip that into the chilli oil sauce as without it the taste is not complete but with it the whole taste is transforms to an unforgettable dish! Even the tea was very, very good. I highly recommend every dish that's added to the review...

Delicious! We particularly enjoyed the the steamed BBQ pork buns, pineapple buns and shrimp spring rolls. The staff can be a bit enthusiastic in giving you food, but that's fine. Recommended!

Get reservations. Especially on weekends and especially if you're thinking of doing brunch. We drove a good distance to the 'Shore from the city as our usual dim sum place had a queue out the door. We decided to try a spot that was said to be pretty decent. Parking is horrendous and prepare to walk about 5 minutes or more from your parked car to get to the restaurant. If you're lucky, you'll get a spot just behind the restaurant in the shared car park. That said, with the number of people parked in town, you'll be incredibly lucky to get one of those rare spots. Food was...mediocre, to say the least. The steamed pork ribs lacked flavour and...meat. Skinniest little buggers that I've ever seen. We had to ask for our order multiple times and the wandering waiters and waitresses seemed rushed off their feet more often than not. Our teapot came with a mere pinch or so of tea leaves which meant that we had to steep our tea for ages so it doesn't look like we've hydrated well when we go to relieve ourselves in the bathroom. The fried squid was rather nice with a bit of crunch but again, compared to some places, this was again, mediocre. Steamed buns were good and the chee cheong fun (with mushroom and roast pork varieties) had puffy glutinous rice skins. Would I come back? Not for the drive and not for the food. That said, if you live out on the Shore, that might be a closer option. I'll stick to my usual, thanks.

Very good place for a Chinese Asian banquet. I had plenty of food it was well done and not heavy, for example their Peking Duck is excellent. Pleasant atmosphere, range of Chinese and Pakeha families. If you have a Chinese friend, take them here so they can unlock the best of the menu for you n

This Chinese restaurant is the worst I’ve ever been to. The wandering waitresses always bump into my mom’s bag and constantly asking if we want the same thing over and over again when we told them no thanks. The tone and service of the owner of the restaurant is unbelievable. My mom ordered some Chinese vegetables and the boss straight up came up to us and told us that they were too busy, so they won’t make it for us. Crossed out the order from our paper, and told us to scram. I couldn’t believe what I heard when he told my mom to hurry up and leave and as he walked past us, gave us a death stare and tapped on his watch. Unbelievable. I recommend you guys to not go to this restaurant.

We had a great end of season team dinner here. Food was really good, with quick service considering there were over 20 of us. Have also been here for casual lunches and look forward to it each time.

Good solid Chinese dinner. The food was good but I am a push over for good dumplings which we had to start and I wish I had more of. Quick easy service and a special mention to the man at the main desk for adding that bit more to our evening with his hospitality :)

Wonderful yum cha. We chanced upon this place on a weekday and it was almost full at just after 12pm. That, and the almost total lack of English in the signage outside, suggested it was going to be very authentic. We loved the prawn triangles (not sure what they're called) especially.

Rating for food only: excellent excellent food, cannot forget the peking duck, sichuan eggplants, salted olives green beans. Highly high recommended. Amongst the top Chinese diner in Auckland.

Asian Wok used to be my family's go-to dine in but we'd not gone in for a long time (partly due to long wait times). Got takeaway pad thai the last time I was there which was delicious and a massive portion (could easily feed 2). Their calamari is also incredible.

Good Chinese food that is available from 10 in the morning until 3pm. So if you are hungry and need good fast, the food is ready and waiting.

Tasty authentic Chinese food. Value for money, large serves, the mains would be better for 4 or more people. Too much of one thing for a couple, but you can always take away the left overs. Remember the chillies are ornamental, don’t be like me on my first trip to China and try to eat them all.

It is a very good Chinese restaurant, I love it so much. Although it sometimes offers me the wrong dishes, they are always good. When I was having a meal there, I was amazed! ↖(^ω^)↗
