The room walls are smeared in brown paint and I woke up with something white on my face and it was sticky.the services ok but a bit overpriced.the location is very far away.

A great youth hostel, half an hour walk from the village of Edale, across the fields. Lovely clean, warm rooms and friendly staff. We hired a private room, which was ideal for our family. A great games room is available and there are nice communal areas which are spotlessly clean. Food and drinks are reasonably priced and the staff are very friendly. There is plenty of free parking and lots of walks in the area. Tip-take any provisions with you as the shop is a trek away and you may find it hard to park in the village. peakdistrictwalks.net is a website we use for walks but the YH also has plenty of free ones.

A brilliant hostel to escape to whether alone, a couple or with family/ friends. Warm, clean and friendly. The setting is magnificent to relax, ramble or simply destress! Due to Covid restrictions the self catering kitchen and games room are closed but you can buy drinks, food etc. Had an amazing stay, missed it so much!

The Youth Hostel Association Activity Centre at Rowland Cote, Edale, Peak District is very well located for walks over the Kinder Scout plateau. The area, known as the High Peak has many popular walks in and around the Edale Valley such as Mam Tor to Lose Hill and the walk over to Hope Valley via Hollins Cross. The youth hostel itself, once a magnificent hunting lodge, has very good facilities for an over night stay offering private and dormitory rooms, self catering facilities, breakfast and evening meals.

This YHA hotel boasts a fantastic location. Mam Tor is just across the valley, offering easy walking access and stunning views. Most attractions are a mere 10-15 minutes' drive away. The rooms are clean, as expected, though toilets are limited per building. I was fortunate enough to experience snow during my stay, adding to the charm. The food is delicious too. However, for those reliant on tech, be aware that WiFi is only available, and mobile network coverage (O2) is limited to the nearest high point. I'd like to extend special thanks to Alastair, Lola, and Elle. Also, a shoutout to the gentleman from the kitchen who served me the delightful lasagna and margarita pizza, whose name I unfortunately forgot.

Great value place to stay prior to starting Pennine Way - £30 for a private room. Everything you need; clean room, comfy bed, hot shower, friendly staff. YHA's are sorely underrated.

Great place. Amazing setting. Walks just as you leave, breakfast was FANTASTIC, cheap stay, good WiFi and bar selection, great space to play games etc. Shout out to one of the staff, Anne. She was on the evening and morning shift. What a ledge!

It's a yha so expect a yha. Lovely building. Team super friendly. Nice evening meals and good breakfast available. Superb walking from the door. Note Edale Station itself is about 1.5 miles as the crow flys.

Nice Youth hostel in a quiet corner. Perfect to start hiking directly from the hostel. Or go rock climbing. The toilet facilities should be kept in better condition.

I would give a 4.5 if it were possible. I loved the location as it is located in a valley and that is the main reason for me to book the place. The food was amazing, had Italian for dinner and continental for breakfast. The staff was friendly and helpful, they guided us with the way as we did not have any network or WiFi; they even gave a map for us yo trek through the nearby mountain. The lounge area has a quite and a calm vibe. The 0.5 star is to have a better game room, as it is an activity centre it should have a fun game room.

Amazing stay here! Staff were great, special mention to Alistair who was very knowledgeable and helpful during our stay. Perfect location and atmosphere. We even got put in larger room as the hostel was quiet. Couldn't ask for anything else!

Stunning location. Staff at reception and in the kitchen were very personable and efficient. Not the cheapest accommodation but I guess these places aren’t cheap to run. Good vibe in the place. Games room kept us occupied for a few hours at night. There was also a lounge where you could play cards or read. Showers were a bit lack lustre, though the shared facilities were clean. All in all, if you are looking for shared accommodation especially with kids in tow, with easy access to the hills it’s a good fit.

Really enjoyed my stay at the YHA! The staff were so kind and helpful, particularly Ellen on reception who helped me plan my onward route. The rooms and bathrooms are very basic but clean. They also offer lots of food options which is good as the area is fairly remote. The site is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by lovely fields and lots of sheep. This is a great budget-friendly place to base yourself for walking, hiking or scrambling in the area.

Stayed here about 10 years ago though I have 1 queryto owner are your private room rates still very reasonable.lovely view main reason I come here.though the road to yha was something of mission to find due to laughable road signs and limited technology 10 years ago as edale something of a technology black spot valley . Nice place though room about what would expect in a hostel type building.do you still offer a wide variety of activities and can you book once your their.

Great youth hostel. Staff were very friendly. Rooms clean and well presented, food was lovely.

Very convenient youth hostel for walkers and other local outdoor activities. Rooms are very basic as you'd expect from a hostel, and the main attraction is the beautiful rural setting. Useful to have access to a kitchen also. Be aware if arriving on foot or via public transport that it's about a 30 min unlit footpath walk from the village centre/train station so do bring a torch and appropriate footwear if arriving late. One point is that it would be useful if the WiFi can be improved as phone signal in the area is bad and the WiFi seems to only work in the main building, not the rooms. It is also relatively expensive to stay here for the standard of accomodation but does reflect the lack of other options in the immediate area!

Very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room and pretty quiet for a busy hostel. Beers and coffee from reception were great, in fact, the coffee was awesome, and miles better than most hostels! We will return

Excellent hostel. Great location for walking. I got a very good price for the private room. The room itself was clean and comfortable and spacious. Staff all very friendly. Food service quick and great experience. I don’t usually like hostels but found this one to be very good.

Amazing location for a stay in the Peak District. This location is walkable from the train station in Edale and conveniently parked on the public footpaths. The staff are helpful in planning your trip, the beds are clean, and the food is plenty to keep you going! Love this place!

I had a one night stay here. The accommodation is roomy and the old house / villa has bags of character. I was there to explore surrounding moors by mountain bike, and got up early, had a quick breakfast at 7.30 (about £5) and then off to see sunrise over hills. My visit was during term time and as such the place was mostly full of school trips, but whether by luck or thoughtfulness, my section of the youth hostel was quite and I got a good night's sleep. I paid £30 for a private room, with an on suite shower and WC. This is my first time staying YHA for 20 years plus I would consider it ideal if you require base to explore rural areas.

Room in the main building was great, warm with comfortable beds and toilet/shower facilities were spotless. Unfortunately there was a lot less space in the self catering kitchen than expected. Only 5 tables which quickly filled up in the evening so we had to wait an hour for cooking/eating. Location is amazing and everyone there was very helpful! Games room is great (and all games are free too!)

A great place to switch off from the world, bring a book and leave your mobile at home! The hostel is in a fantastic location for cycling, mountain biking and hiking. Wake up to amazing views while you have breakfast in one of the most peaceful locations you can imagine. The staff are all fantastic and really do go out of their way to help. I cannot wait to go back.

The team here are excellent, I’ve known many of them for over 10 years and I still keep coming back for more. Welcoming staff and wonderful coffee, a great respite in the Peaks.
