The best place to park is up new road. There isn't a car park as such, you simply grab a space at the side of the road. The higher to the top you get, the less you have to walk ! Once you reach the entrance you climb over wall using the wooden steps. The walk isn't too bad. Within 20 minutes you're at the top. Beautiful views. My only criticism would be, do NOT go at weekends. Its ridiculously busy to the point where at times we couldn't even reach the edge to take photos without standing next to someone else. Worth a weekday visit, but its quite popular at the weekends, and even a car space can be a struggle !!

Easiest hike with the best views in the peaks even on a windy day. You can park at Heatherdene if you want to pull a longer walk or alternatively park on New Road which is an off-road car park right by entrance of the trail. If you are taking public transport from Sheffield then take the 257 bus and get off by the Ladybower Inn and walk up New Road which is on the left hand side until come up to the off-road parking by the entrance of the trail. (I have included pics of all 3 options)

The most amazing experience after coming to UK. After you hike for 10km you realise the value of the country side of peak district. On a bright sunny day the reservoir looks as blue as an ocean and the amazing lowlands and green valleys just makes the moment perfect. You can sit there and look at the Lady bower reservoir for hours. There are two ways to reach the place, one is when u follow every other person through the road that goes away from the reservoir and passing through the Hope valley (which is a longer one). There are short cut routes through the woods which you need to find, it is a bit steep but pretty amazing. The woods look beautiful when the sun shines above the canopy and peeks through the gap. You can visit this place from Manchester as well as Sheffield, it is almost the midway and about half an hour drive.

Stunning views of Ladybower reservoir from the top. We parked in New Road and walked up from there. You can walk back down the way you came or continue on the path along the ridge to do a circular route that brings you out by the reservoir. Fairly easy walk up from the car and well worth it for the views.

Quite nice, and easy outdoor walking, and experience itself! It was a bit tricky to find the main public footpath (where the barbed wired fence is) but later on we found a small gap in the fence where you can squeeze throughout. At the top of the edge itself, is superb feeling and beautiful views for sure! It's a wonderdul place to go with your family and friends a like! My verdict: 7.5/10.

Surprisengly beautiful place with a lot of things to do. I went with a colleague of mine and my dog and was plesently surprised to find out that there are a lot of paths to take and go around. There is toilet facilities and well maintained car park nearby. The dam is impressive and recommend a walk around it! Definately will come back again to explore more.

A very popular spot for sunset! There is no proper carpark, u have to park on the sides of New Road, but its FREE. The walk is about 20min up the hill, then 10min along the edge to reach the point where u see Ladybower rΓ©servoir, where people and photographers are all sitting. The fern, the heather, the sheep, the edge, the reservoir and the sunset! It's a fantastic place! My youngest is 4 and didn't have problem, easy walk. No toilets. No food. But a great place to have a picnic!

Fantastic place to come visit in the Peak District from Sheffield. Easy to drive to and with a short walk you're right up on top of the edge with great views over Ladybower Reservoir. One thing to look our for is that it can get quite windy up there sometimes, but don't let that put you off!

Amazing views over Ladybower and surrounding area. Paths were much drier than anticipated, especially with the considerable rainfall we've experienced over the past week, no doubt this is due to the strong wind blowing up here. The weather today was ideal for this hike.

One of the breathtaking sceneries you can visit in the UK! Offering one-of-a-kind view to Ladybower Reservoir, and worth to visit with your family or even kids during a sunny or cloudy day! Also don't miss watching the sunset and sunrise from the edge! You can park your car on the New Rd at the side and walk up, Or park on the main road and burn more calories to get to the edge. Suitable for kids accompanied by their parents. And also dog friendly! If you do photography, here is where you wish to to your next photos! Either landscape or portrait, both gonna render amazing!

A very beautiful picturesque place with stunning views of the Lady Bower Reservoir and the entirety of Peak District. The hike is a lovely walk and not too hard for the elderly and kids, it was very enjoyable. The heather coats the land in the Summer which adds a lovely touch to the place and gives off a beautiful smell. It was around a half an hour hike to the top and it’s worth every step. Can get quite busy when the weather is good so best off going in the morning/Early afternoon. Be careful with kids as the edge can be dangerous and scary. I recommend visiting!

Had a lovely walk up to the top and then came back on the opposite side of the Ladybower. We were lucky with the weather and it was a beautiful day. The views from the top are stunning.

Beautiful area, funny rocks, a lot of sheeps Always check weather before going on a hike, it’s sunny day but hazy. Very nice for hiking beginners, most of the paths are not muddy, but kind of a soft grassy texture, need not to wash the mud when done hiking Only problem is parking, suggest to go early morning

Parking at Heatherdene makes it about an hour's walk to the top. Side of the road parking is available, but makes the road quite treacherous at busy times. Sunset is beautiful and popular. Bring snacks and warm clothes because the wind coming across the peaks is much colder than below the edge.

Parked just above cut throat bridge in small free car park and walked back down. Large circular walk to the edge, absolutely stunning views and a moderate walk. I can imagine in wet weather it would be much tougher going. Worst bit was the small, but steep gravely path back to the car park!

Along the trail leading to the Edge is worthy of every step for what lays ahead. Epic and stunning views looking over the district and Ladybower. If you love beautiful and amazing scenery then this one of places to visit.

We visit this place for first time and our experince are amazing. It is one of the many beautifull places in Peak District. The way up is very easy just little breath taking πŸ˜… Can be very steep but the view up there is worth it! There is some places to park your car on side so you can walk up. This place is so far our favourite place but we will come back to Peak district to explore more places because is to bigger place just for one day. 😁

Simply put, WOW. Walked up to the top on a miserable day, but it was well worth it. Will be going back again, hopefully with better weather!

Amazing place! One of the gems in Peak District. It is not steep as our kids were able to climb the hill without too much effort. Overall we spent around 2 and hours to climb up and climb down with some time for photography. Once on the top the views of the Ladybower reservoir are brilliant. If you are going by car, park on the side of the road on New Road.

Great walk. Not too far from the road or a car park. The path I took up was severely overgrown, the path i found for the way down was more direct and well trodden. Can get extremely windy. Great views on a clear day.

I recently visited Bamford Edge, a beautiful location for trucking enthusiasts. If you love trucking, this place is a must-visit! At the top of the hill, you'll find a stunning view of the reservoir dam and the entire village. The view is breathtaking and makes for a great photo opportunity with friends. The trucking experience at Bamford Edge was truly memorable. The trail was a bit moderate to truck, but it was well worth it for the amazing view at the top. The scenery along the trail was also gorgeous, with lush greenery and stunning rock formations. Overall, Bamford Edge is a fantastic destination for trucking enthusiasts and anyone who loves the great outdoors. If you're looking for a memorable trucking experience with friends or family, don't miss out on this hidden gem!"

Best view I've seen in the peak district so far. Looks amazing in the autumn. I followed the black trail from heatherdene, pay and display car park. Could park on the layby the other end if wanted a shorter less taxing walk. If you want to extend there's a circular route down into bamford and across ladybower reservoir.
