Vivienne - the owner - is a fantastic host. She and her late husband Phillip created something very special in a wonderful setting. Despite arriving at Underleigh House much later than we said we would we were given the warmest of welcomes when we arrived. Downstairs the walls are festooned with photos of their family and the most accolades for hospitality that I have ever seen in one place. All entirely justified. We were astonished by the breakfast; there were so many choices and everything was utterly delicious being freshly cooked by Vivienne - aided by Carol. There is a guest lounge with a wood stove and I took the opportunity to catch up there with some emails (there is a strong wifi signal throughout the house) - only ever so slightly distracted by Bella the (very friendly) cat! Our bedroom was cosy and very comfortable; in the morning we opened the curtains to see a field full of sheep one side and the valley on the other. The bedroom fridge contained fresh milk (& soya milk as requested). We much look forward to our next stay at Underleigh.

Phillip and Vivienne were incredible hosts, and made us feel so at home (in their home)! Rooms were very comfortable, clean and had everything you would need. The breakfast was amazing, like you have never had before! We’ll definitely be back at some point. The hiking in the area is great fun and so picturesque! We experienced mountains with mud and snow! Thank you and see you again soon. X

You won't find a better suited place for a stay in the Peak District. Vivian will point you to the best walks and will welcome you back with the perfect afternoon tea. The rooms are quintessentially English, clean and very accommodating. And the (3 course!!) breakfast is worth the trip on its own.

A magical stay here, and our hosts set a new high bar for making us feel welcome and well looked after. They were truly exceptional in every aspect and I can tell you now, breakfast is a treat that you won't find anywhere else, of that I am 100% sure, we ate like kings!

Vivienne is such a lovely host, very welcoming and helpful and made us the best breakfast we’ve ever had at a bnb! The room was clean and comfy and had a big sized bath tub to relax in after a long day! What a great treat it was to stay there and we look forward to coming back soon x

Staying at Underleigh House is a real treat. The location is ideal, our suite (Derwent) was very comfortable and spacious and Vivienne is the perfect host. From arrival to departure we were very well looked after, for example being offered a tea tray in the lounge on return from days out. The breakfast is second to none in terms of choice and quality, an experience in itself.

Phillip and Vivienne are incredibly helpful and absolutely delightful. Our rooms (Thornhill Suite) were clean and quaint and perfectly acceptable, though not really anything special. But Underleigh's location, nestled between sheep fields and hills, is absolutely gorgeous. We parked our car upon arrival and didn't drive again until we checked out. The hosts have a binder full of maps for different walks/hikes in the area that you can start from Underleigh House. They're knowledgeable about different attractions in the area, and they even called and made dinner reservations for us. Breakfast was incredible. For our full day in the Peak District, we ate breakfast then left on foot. We hiked Mam Tor, toured Treak Cliff Caverns, and looped down through Castleton where we went to all the little shops, toured Peveril Castle just above town, ate dinner at a pub, then walked back home on the picturesque road through Hope. It was about 9-10 miles altogether, and it was a perfect day. If you're more of a homebody, they have a common area/living room with games and a piano and cozy chairs. We had an absolutely lovely time, and we'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

5 * stay from us. Just stayed here with our two dogs. Friendly service and very welcoming. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Rooms were clean and lovely and the view from the bed and breakfast was stunning overlooking the hills. A perfect location with great walks right on your door step. Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely place to stay. Breakfast is probably one of the best I've had, and I've had a lot of cooked breakfasts! Lovely hosts too.
