We came across this newly opened “Authentic Spanish Tapas - Deli / Bar / Restaurant” by accident having been open only a couple of days at the time, these guy’s were already knocking it out of the park in terms of quality, overall experience and service! We have subsequently returned numerous times over the last 12 months and the food has never disappointed, great menu and seriously good chef! However the service has always been a little fragmented with several front of house staff appearing to be locals, friends of friends, potentially friends children. Why does this matter you ask? The owners are certainly more bothered and attentive to locals and seemingly lots of friends who frequent the establishment regularly, parents / relatives/ friends of the staff get maximum attention whilst visitors become invisible! Extreme viewpoint / perception you may think but never the less this is how we have felt now on the last two visits. Friday and Saturday nights are manic and service can be as i have described, however we love the building and what the owners have done with it, the atmosphere overall and the undisputed high quality food and beverages on offer. I would recommend trying a weekday lunchtime or extended lunch for the best experience! Santiago owners please consider my viewpoint as my experience from the 1st visit when you opened to the latest in (Oct 2022) has become more and more disappointing in terms of service. I have taken my rating from 5 star down to 3 purely on service which is a real shame!

Our first time having Spanish tapas and visiting the Santiago restaurant in Buxton. We were not disappointed! The lady who took our table reservation the night before was so helpful and friendly. This restaurant is always busy so booking in advance is highly recommended! The food & service is top notch! It's not "cheap", but the quality of food and flavouring makes it worthwhile. Their portion is just right: (T for one person, R for two person). We had 5 dishes and a dessert to share, with drinks. The two young waitresses and two other women who was looking after customers were very proactive and attentive. Everything ran like clockwork. Compliments to the chefs and kitchen workers too!! I would definitely recommend anyone who is in the Buxton area to give this restaurant a try!

I would usually say the phrase "it exceeded my expectations" is a clichéd management speak phrase. However that's exactly what our meal did last night. The Google score was pretty good so I expected to be nice, but it was absolutely amazing. 3 of us shared 4 tapas and one ration (main size) portion plus a 4 item deli board. Everything was prefect. The air dried tuna, which was a first fir us was so delicate and delicious. The gambas the size of lobsters and each of the 3 cheeses and the 4 year aged ham were all sublime. And great value for the quality. Tapas can sometimes be done as a bit of a cop out lazy, cheap and cheerful dining offer. This was exactly the opposite. If felt really authentic and the quality of every ingredient was top notch. The service was also super attentive without being over the top. If we lived here we'd be back every week.

I've persistently tried to phone this establishment. If necessary I can verify this. My partner got through once only to be told there is no availability. We have a voucher her sister purchased. I've not tried the food and currently it looks unlikely. Would a reasonable person find this acceptable? Where is web booking for example? Seriously need to address customer service. ** I subsequently did get in to this restaurant. The food was on the whole very good ( its always a matter of preference ) and the service was very quick and attentive . Obviously I stand by the comments re booking but I have now changed the grading to reflect what a good experience this is. Also it is no doubt tough in the restaurant sector.

Our visit to the Santiago’s tapas restaurant was an unforgettable culinary adventure that transported us straight to the streets of Spain. As soon as we stepped inside, I was enveloped in a warm and lively ambiance, with the sounds of laughter and clinking glasses filling the air. The rustic yet charming decor added to the authenticity of the experience, making me feel like I had stumbled upon a hidden gem in the heart of Spain. The menu at the tapas restaurant was a treasure trove of tantalizing options, offering a wide variety of small plates bursting with flavours. From traditional staples like patatas bravas and chorizo al vino to inventive creations that showcased a fusion of Spanish and international influences, each dish was a work of art. The attention to detail was evident in every bite, with the perfect balance of spices, textures, and presentation. The highlight of the meal was the camaraderie and conviviality that came with sharing the dishes. It fostered a sense of togetherness and allowed us to sample a diverse range of flavours, creating a truly immersive and communal dining experience. To complement the exquisite food, the tapas restaurant boasted an extensive selection of beers wines and spirits. The knowledgeable staff guided us through the wine list, recommending pairings that enhanced the flavours of the tapas. Their passion and expertise shone through, further enriching our dining experience. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who were eager to accommodate any dietary preferences or answer questions about the menu. Overall, our experience at the tapas restaurant exceeded all expectations. It was a culinary journey that celebrated the richness and diversity of Spanish cuisine. From the warm and inviting atmosphere to the exceptional food and impeccable service, every aspect was thoughtfully curated to create an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're a seasoned tapas enthusiast or new to the concept, this restaurant is a must-visit for all.

Came here for my nieces birthday and it was one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. The food was faultless, delicious, served quick and perfectly. The staff were fantastic and really made us feel special, especially my niece for her birthday. Cannot fault it at all. Facilities were clean and in excellent working order and my niece particularly loved the soap and moisturiser scent. The atmosphere and decor was lovely. Will definitely come again. Thank you so much for making our evening so amazing

We came here for some lunch, walking in without booking a table. The staff were very friendly and accommodated us with no issues at all. They still need to book you into their online booking system so you have to give your details over which I found a little weird for a walk in. The venue is fantastic, really interesting building with great decor. We tried a few dishes, the prawns were really delicious although only having 5 was a shame as they were the best thing we got. We felt we probably made a wrong choice with the rest of the food as it was all fried, and so we felt a bit sick at the end of it due to the amount of fried food we'd eaten. The chicken wings were also not good. Lacking flavour and just bland. The potatoes were lovely and flavour full though and I do recommend them. Their wine selection is amazing, so many to choose from! Overall it was nice experience, although if I went again I'd make sure I balanced the dishes more to have less fried options.

This place is fantastic, our absolute favourite . Family run and so welcoming. They greet you like old friends. Food is stunning but pace your order. It's so tempting to order everything all at once as it all sounds gorgeous...and it is. Can't wait to get back here. Any excuse to go..birthday, Xmas, day with a 'y' in it!! 😊❤️

Found this place last minute when staying in Buxton. It is stunning, the food is fantastic, the atmosphere is great and the staff look after you in the best way. We were particularly impressed with Sandra and Connie, both of whom looked after us so well. Would 100% recommend the restaurant and would love to go again. We had the chocolate cake recommended but decided not to as we were too full. The churros were excellent

One of the best nights out in Buxton even if you're not going to a show at the Opera House. Excellent authentic food, great drinks selection and a lovely atmosphere. If you're visiting on the weekend make sure you book or else you aren't getting a table or even a place to stand. Dogs welcome too.

We dined outside, which meant we could chat easily with passers-by asking what we were eating! That is only reason for the 4. We had patatas allioli, padron peppers, morcilla with egg, fritura de pescado, albondingas and the amazingly lush croquetas de cangrejo (they recommended 5 for two, but we're greedy!). Then puds, even though we really shouldn't! Everything was tasty and great textures. Some croqetas can be almost doughy, these crab ones definitely were not. And the albondingas were really soft and juicy. The menu is Asturias influenced, so it was surprising not to have arroz con leche on the menu, but maybe next time! Service was prompt and attentive but not intrusive. The drinks menu is brilliant and I was able to buy my dad a bottle of his favourite tipple - Anis Dulce - at the deli.

A friend and I were in the Peak District for a weekend away and were keen to try this for dinner on Saturday evening. We couldn't get through to make a reservation. So just dropped by around 6pm to see if we could get a table. We were seated and told that they need the table back within an hour, which was fine, but doesn't make you feel particularly welcome. The service was quite slow and poor, but I suppose it was a busy Saturday evening and they possibly didn't have enough staff. The food does seem to be on a par to authentic Spanish Tapas and the dishes we chose were quite nice, albeit some on the small portion side. Would have been nice to be able to ask someone with experience about dish choices and pairing wine but we weren't really given that option, from mainly being served by younger, inexperienced staff. We didn't really even try to ask for another drink because it felt quite rushed. If I'm in the area again, I might pop back to have a look in the Deli, but not sure if I'd go to eat at the restaurant again.

First and foremost, the food was incredibly good. The usual range of tapas but every single one we ordered had an extra something in both flavour and care in preparation making it distinctive and memorable. Portions were very generous and prices very very reasonable. Service was great, welcoming, fast. Clean, well-lighted, pleasantly warm, background music that complements rather than overwhelms conversation. A true jewel. It deserves to thrive and prosper as it was conceived with great attention to detail and is clearly run with care and great consideration for customers.

This was my first stop after arriving in Buxton for the weekend. So glad we chose to have lunch here! The tapas dishes we chose were all delicious, especially the goats cheese croquettes with chilli jam! Paired with a generous jug of sangria, it was a brilliant start to our trip. Highly recommend to any foodies visiting the area.

Wanted to visit this restaurant last time we were in Buxton. Managed to find time this time around and we weren't disappointed. Food was excellent and some of the best Spanish tapas we have eaten outside of Spain. The quality and authenticity of the food is something you would expect to find in Barcelona, Valencia or Madrid. Reasonably priced with excellent service. The tapas plates were a good size too. Service was excellent and all the staff were attentive of us and our very young daughter. Will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely atmosphere. Food was lovely, staff very accommodating on the bar and waiting on staff. Only thing was t there was a big wait in between the dishes arriving so you sort of got just one thing at a time. But all very very tasty!! 😋. Thanks will definitely come again.

Great authentic tapas. The nougat-style ice cream desert with acorn liqueur is to die for! Estrella Galicia on tap is a rare treat in the UK. Service staff were a bit overwhelmed at times, we had one or two long waits for their attention later when it got busy.
